It's crowded inside. It's very crowded. The store isn't really all that large, but they manage to put three store's worth of merchandise in one small location. Wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling, it's all merchandise. The merchandise is crazy and awesome. There are vinyl records, games, comics, vintage signs and post cards, ages-old memorabilia, and more stuff than I could adequately remember to include. It was, of course, the vinyl record display outside the store that caught my attention. The staff was awesome and spoke both French and English. (I applaud the fact that so many people spoke both, when Americans (myself included, but I do know a fair amount of Spanish) tend to master only one language). Magasin Général P.L. Blouin is an amazing, charming, memorabilia filled shop that I wish wasn't so far away.

Kind of disorganized but I liked the low key environment. The manager was very pleasant and accommodative and went downstairs to bring up more of a hat that I was trying on so that I can compare more on fit and feel. I ended up purchasing a Canada Hat here.

Souvenirs du Lys (loosely translated to "Memories of the Lily") is one of the most voluminous gift…read moreshops you're likely to find in Q City. For those unaware, this store is an extension of the "du Lys" brand that includes Québec Urbain (see my earlier review), Boutique Expression, Boutique Mouche à feu (jewelry and fashion accessories), Boutique Frada (women's fashions) ... all within, literally within a 250-meter radius of each other. Je te chie pas. This kind of voluminousity lends itself to a lot of good stuff: Hoodies, shirts, socks, stocking caps, baseball caps, sports team gear (defunct-team-heavy, Nordiques and Expos), wallets, jewelry, magnets, toys, shoes, bags, pillows, license plates, mugs, glasses, and a whole bunch more. MANY items have the requisite "Canada" and red maple leaf on them. They also show plenty of Quebecois spirit with an abundance of items with Azure blue & four fleur-de-lis' that make up the Province's famed flag. Souvenirs du Lys, oddly enough, seems to also try to compete with 365-day-a-year Christmas store La Boutique de Noël de Québec ... yes, during my visits in JUNE, they have a section with Christmas stuff. Also check out their totem poles and other indigenous souvenirs ... good stuff. While some prices are eyes-popping-emoji high, if you want to see a lot of high-quality souvenirs, give a visit to Souvenirs du Lys.

The price is very decent considering its original art work and all hand crafted. There are souvenir stores down the road charging almost the same $$ for much lesser quality accessories that are clearly not handmade. The store is very clean and brightly lit and I particularly enjoy that each artist has a section with some cards you can take that have their information on it. If you are traveling into the city, be sure to support the local artists!!

This shop has a very strict no photos rule which I can understand, but what was frustrating for us as customers was the fact that we were followed throughout the store by an employee who continuously asked us questions as we looked at their merchandise. We thought about purchasing a few different handmade journals, but after being followed we walked out empty handed. Moral of the story, this shop had a great selection of merchandise (which is reasonably priced), but the customer service killed it for us here.
