I'm updating my review for full transparency after receiving several calls from the clinic today…read moreregarding my last review. I first received a call from Mary who was the woman at the front desk both times I came here. She was apologetic for how things were handled on Saturday and offered me a phone consult today for my referrals. I made sure to let her know that I had no ill will of her or the clinic and when she asked me to I agreed to remove my review for the referrals. I asked for the call to be tomorrow as I'm busy at work and she offered a later time slot 5:15 which I accommodated. The phone consult was fine, and they advised they would process the referrals. I was informed that it'd take 2 weeks to process as they'd have to request my records now, which was fine. The provider subsequently asked me to remove my negative review to which I said I'd remove it when I received my referrals. She was completely satisfied with that and I let her know I appreciated this phone call and their efforts before the call ended. Not even a few minutes after that call, an office manager (assuming it was Sayed who's replying to reviews, but I heard the name Sam) calls to pressure me to remove my review. He started out nice saying he wasn't trying to disgruntle me explaining how a bad review negatively affects their business. I said that I understand but tried to remind him my review is true of my experience and when seeking services here I made sure to follow the policies made aware to me and walked out disappointed both times! His response was that "it's not that serious." I came for a referral and believe it to be fair to amend my review when that is received. How am I to trust this business will follow through when they never followed up on my blood tests results or they wait until now to request my records when a release form is included in the intake paperwork and it's previously stated (in the deleted response to this review) that my records were requested? The office manager eventually berated me on the phone and didn't let me get a sentence in. He said things like 'you're on a high horse with your review' when I stated I'd remove the review upon receiving the referrals and I even asked if there's any way we could expedite the processing. At this point he was raising his voice and telling me they're not going to process my referrals, then finally he threatened to have me removed from my insurance network. He did not call me to ask on my perspective or to expedite solutions as a proper manager would; he called me to try bullying me into removing my review and when I said no, he threw a tantrum and hung up. I have done NOTHING to this point besides posting an honest review, answer their calls, and be receptive to their remediation attempts. Truthfully, I'm not comfortable with this clinic having access to my PHI with staff (a manager even!) that calls to threaten me when I did NOTHING wrong. This clinic also collected my copay prior to my first visit while stating (in Sayed's deleted response to my review) that first time visits constitute annual exams under their policy. It falls under preventative services not applicable to my office visit copay yet they still collected it right after I finished the intake paperwork. I will be filing complaints where appropriate with Anthem/DOI/MBC/CDPH/DCA regarding practices.

The…read moreproblem is the new doctor (Julia Hoffer) is not in my network (Blue Cross), or any network as far as I can tell, so if I see her, I will get stuck with the entire $250-$300 bill for the visit. And you can bet your life that the Boyle Heights Clinic is going to aggressively pursue collection of that bill. So I need to find another primary care doctor. Which means I need to have my medical records sent to the new doctor. Which means calling the front desk. Which means that they will not answer the phone, and they will not return any message you leave. And if you call the only line that answers, you get through to the Glendale call center, but they cannot do anything with your records, which are at Boyle Heights, and Boyle Heights does not answer the phone, does not return phone calls, does not do anything that remotely passes for patient service. One star for this clinic is too high. It should be Negative One Billion Stars. If you go to the Boyle Heights Clinic, you are risking your health and your finances. Stay away, Stay far away. You have been warned.

I have to always call several times and leave many voicemails before I get any sort of response. My PCP said my levels are abnormal and that I should see my endocrinologist and I'm traveling soon. After FINALLY reaching someone, they tell me the soonest appointment is FIVE months from now!!! Are you serious?! You're telling me you're THAT busy even though you never answer the phone?? I'm sooooo done with this office.

It's an annual check up & no particular issues to report. There's a bit of a wait to be called in, about 10 minutes. Daniel called me in & he's absolutely pleasant & really looks like he loves working at this practice. Waited about another 10-12 minutes for Dr. Canceko & when he arrived, he was apologetic for the wait time. My consult/visit was well my time and his concern is genuine. He did the usual: lymph node , heart lung sounds , abdominal & pedal edema checks--and truly inquired how I was doing. He listened intently. Included were the well women inquiries, colorectal cancer screening, mammograms--if Ive scheduled or had these done. It was a really good clinic visit.

Frustrating Experience with Poor Communication…read more I've been calling Keck of USC in Glendale all day to get basic information about my outpatient surgery scheduled for tomorrow -- and I still haven't received a pre-op call or any official confirmation of my surgery time. This is incredibly stressful, especially the day before a medical procedure. Some of the staff I spoke to were kind and tried to help, and I appreciate them. But unfortunately, the last person I spoke with didn't even give me her name. She was very rude, dismissive, and actually cut me off while I was still talking. That kind of treatment is unacceptable when patients are already anxious and trying to get clarity about their health and schedule. Patients deserve better communication, more respect, and basic professionalism -- especially from a hospital with Keck's reputation. I hope leadership seriously addresses the gaps in coordination and patient support at this location.
