Beautiful park along the water! You can see the Toronto Skyline in the distance from the lake and there's also a hiking trail as well. I went during the weekday so it wasn't too busy and was pretty quiet. Apparently it gets pretty busy on the weekends though. The park also has a BBQ area but it might be by permit only since I saw a sign posted of the parties who had reserved the area by permit. This spot would be perfect for a date/picnic, especially during the warm summer months. It makes a great gathering area for family friendly activities as well! read more

The park is pretty large so lots of the benches, and playground are pretty far in from Lakeshore. The park can be accessed by car and transit. There are bus stops nearby but it may take a while (at least for me when I was too young to drive). Also, parking is pretty limited. Even though I don't have a dog, I found it cool that Jack Darling Park has an off leash dog park. I didn't realize it was one till I was volunteering at the tennis courts nearby years ago. read more

This is a lovely little park! We've gone here many times over the years, in many seasons. We even had a photo shoot here with our (then) 8 month old daughter. Pro tip: if you're planning to come here in the summer time, pack a picnic and bring bathing suits for the kids as there is a splash pad. Try to arrive early as parking is limited. There's also a small sandy beach area as well but I personally wouldn't recommend swimming in the water there (ikyk). read more

I enjoy sitting on the benches and taking in the beautiful views of Lake Ontario. The park offers various trails suitable for everyone. It's also great for walking dogs and letting kids play around. One of the best lakeshore parks in the GTA. There's a long trail along Lake Ontario with no trees blocking the nice view. You can clearly see the highrise buildings from Downtown Toronto and North York. If you continue along the Waterfront Trail path, you'll get to Rattray Marsh Conservation Area. In a way, you're getting two parks in one trip here! As soon as you walk into Rattray Marsh, it's a complete change in scenery (I cover this in another review). There's also a dog park (leash-off) area near the parking lots. Beautiful views on any day and at any season. There are many beaches along the waterfront paths. I love the swans and ducks that chill on the lake. During the summer, you frequently see people swimming/boating/BBQing. It has everything you look for in a park, whether you're here for the water, exercise, leisure walking, or family outing. Since you can do so many things in this park with great water views, there are a lot of visitors. In a typical (non-pandemic) afternoon, there are people everywhere. Kids are running around, the park is filled with BBQ smoke, along with large family gatherings that just stay there for the whole day. It's good and bad. It's not very quiet and could be disturbing at times (4 star). read more

Some of my fondest memories from growing up is my Dad taking my brother and I to Jack Darling park to be near the water and climb on the insanely large rocks. Update: the rocks are not as big as I once remembered them being, but the view of the city still amazes me every time. I fell more in love with this park a few years ago when we brought our dog for a walk. There are a few large off-leash dog parks within Jack Darling which are really great because they act more as trails vs. a giant square to stand in. Outside of those, the paths along the waterpark are so lovely to walk on. The path extends into Rattray Marsh which is nice when you want to walk deeper into nature but a warning to dog walkers, it's mostly boardwalk! The beach areas have been quite clean when I've visited, and people definitely took advantage of them this past summer. This park is used primarily for gatherings and picnics, and is often quite the busy spot. The reason for my four star review is parking. I get it, it's a public park and we want more park than lots, but parking can be so horrendous here. I've driven down and had to turn around and go home *insert sad puppy dog eyes here* It would almost be better if you could make a reservation online and be in the park for a certain amount of time? Maybe that takes the fun out of it. read more

This is a beautiful park in Mississauga that is the envy of other cities bordering Lake Ontario. It has old school charm. At the end of the beach where we were, there is evidence of a boat launch from a past that didn't include a glorious public spot like Jack Darling Memorial Park. The monster homes don't run right up the waters edge here. Instead, there is a cluster of mature shade trees lovingly draping over the water letting your eyes and mind relax with the beautiful bay view greeting you there. Off in the distance, oh, who cares about what is in the distance anyway? instead look around, there are geese and swans swimming right up the people wading in the water, some fully clothed lured by the clear blue warm water. My husband and I went here for an afternoon stroll and I could say this is one of Mississauga's hidden gems for great parks to spend family time. There are spots for group parties and there is an adjoining trail to some nearby parks along Lakeshore. Nice area to bring a bike as well where you could sit and enjoy the cozy breeze. read more

Now how can we go there one take Hurontario st. North and lakeshore west after passing 6 set of lights you will see entrance on your left. Big land mark is the stone on the entrance engraved JAC DARLING MEMORIAL PARK. On Wednesday evening at Jack Darling off leash park, my 10lb Boston / Chihuahua was very badly injured in an unprovoked attack by a pitbull. I rushed her straight to Clarkson Animal Hospital and she was immediately treated for shock and underwent emergency surgery. She is home now, extensively shaved, stitched up, surgical drains in place, on 4 different medications due to the external and internal injuries. Our vet said that the size and power differential between a 10lb dog and a pit bull is such that it would be the equivalent of an adult being attacked by a 2000lb tiger. Imagine if a child was at the park and inadvertently was injured in such a fight! People have approached me saying that Tika the pit bull in question has attacked other dogs. Someone emailed me and said I can share his name and info if necessary. His husky was attacked THREE times by this same dog and the last time, as he was checking his dog's body for puncture wounds after her attack, she escaped from her owner, bounded at him and his dog and when she went to bite the dog, sunk her teeth into his hand. The person who was with the pit bull on the night of the incident (the owner's best friend) in emails to me has talked about the dog's checkered past. They are willing to pay the vet bills (over $2,000 so far) but I have a huge concern about the risk to dogs and to children and even to adults. I have no interest in suing them (as long as my vet bills are paid), but I feel that this dog is a potential risk to people in the community. However, it seems there is NO legal route to address this serious issue, except suing for financial compensation My dog was ripped up. Imagine if a child had accidentally gotten in the way? Another person wrote to me last night. In the melee, he was the one who had to "pry Tikka's jaws open" as she tried to (and almost succeeded) kill Zoe. The owner of the husky who was bitten in the 3rd attack documented that Tikka's owner had pulled Tikka away and then, as he was checking his dog, Tikka broke free from being held on leash, ran at them and as she leapt / lunged to get the husky, bit the husky owner in the process of trying to finish off the attack she had previously started on his dog. So, this could have happened in or outside a park. Leash or no leash doesn't necessarily make a difference to this pit bull. I'd phoned 311 Thursday morning & left message for the Bite Investigator....heard nothing as yet Went to police..... They don't deal with dog attacks Went to Animal Control..... They have no jurisdiction as it was in an off leash park. They can speak to the dog's owner and strongly advise her to leash / muzzle the dog, but their words have (pardon the pun) zero bite. I asked "but if a dog has attacked other dogs multiple times and a human has been bitten in the park, isn't it reasonable to imagine, it may also be unsafe outside the park?" His answer "the off leash parks have signs up saying USE AT YOUR OWN RISK" and said I could sue her. I said I'm not interested in suing. I'm interested in the health and safety of children and dogs in the community. No response, as there's NOTHING he can do. It is mind boggling to me that our community off leash park has a loop hole where by a dog can be rampantly vicious and there is NOTHING we can do. No recourse. Never mind the THOUSANDS of dollars involved, but there is a community health & safety issue! This took place in your park but could have easily taken place, say, in the parking lot. Or down by the lake. What has to happen? A dog has to be actually killed? Or, God forbid, a child's face ends up mauled off before this loop hole is addressed? I have contacted my MPP and am would appreciate knowing what action you think would be appropriate. Not just in this individual case, but as a policy and procedure for the park, generally. Believe it or not, I have lived in Mississauga for 20 years and it was my first time visiting Jack Darling Memorial Park last weekend. The weather was beautiful on Saturday, but it was scorching hot in the afternoon so we waited until dinnertime for a photography walk at the park. As soon as I was about 50 metres from the water, I was in awe of the view! Not only was the view of Lake Ontario amazing, we even saw the skyline of downtown Toronto. The waterfront trail was nicely paved from one end to another. There were many people at the park that night, but it's a fair size so everybody was pretty spread out. On the downside, there are a lot of Canadian geese and seagulls at the park, which only means one thing...a lot of bird poop! (Mostly by the grass close to the water though.) There were also a lot of flies and mosquitoes, and we did not come prepared for that. read more

This used to be the most incredible dog park in the history of all dog parks. I don't know what the heck is going on but for the last couple years there has been construction knocking out several acres of the dog park (yea, it's THAT huge). What is left is difficult to find but still awesome. Once you get in the gate, a short off leash walk through the woods leads you to a big open area where dogs are free to run and play with each other. There are always people here (and therefore dogs too) so your pup will not be bored. For the lazy and/or tired folks, there are picnic benches but since it is a dog park, watch out for the pee! Outside the dog park, there is a playground and waterfront trail. Haven't spent much time there but from what I can recall, it is quite a nice setting. Also, tonnes of parking! read more

This park is a "Gem" in the city. It's located conveniently in Mississauga and about a 30 min drive from Scarborough. Honestly, you almost feel like you're at the cottage. The scenery is breathtaking. There are lots of great picnic areas and BBQ areas. My only advice is plan to get there early as the parking fills up quickly. read more

This place has an almost football field sized dog park... wow. I am just blown away at how nice this place is. I came up here weekly from Oakville to meet up a dog walking friend to hang out, get some cardio and hang out with all the pups. The regulars that come here are super sweet, and the grounds seem very clean to me. The architecture of the park is designed very nice and has a loop sort of trail - I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to hang out by the lake or to take their dogs for a big treat. read more

Beautiful park 10 minutes walk from my parents. When I stay with them I go every day and walk through the conservation area which is gorgeous. I took my boys swimming there when they were young. It is wonderful to see so many people picnicking on the weekend with the kids playing in the play ground. One of my favourite parks right up there with Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris. read more
