I haven't been to a Jack in years, so when we saw one was on our road trip route we had to try it. I must say I was a little underwhelmed from what I recalled from years past. It was a decent fast food place, but nothing overly special. The menu seemed more limited than I remember. Staff was friendly and food was made to order. The seating area appeared to be clean. They were out of some things on the menu, including the tacos which are a side item for their $10 combo options. They mentioned a couple of other items they were out of, including some drink options. Their Coke self-service soda machine was out of service. Then they mixed up the sweet and unsweet tea for us and another customer. The wifey said the Diet Coke tasted very bad. The fries and onion rings were both pretty good. I'm a big onion ring fan so when I find good ones I appreciate it. The spicy chicken sandwich was good also, just lacked a little mayo (a tad dry). The wife said her burger was good too. So overall pretty tasty food, just not a great drink situation when we visited and they were out of some foods. read more

We were on vacation and stopping to visit a friend of one of my kids in the area. I was surprised when I saw the sign for Jack and I knew I had to eat there. It has been many years since the last time I got to have some Jack-in-the-Box. I just wanted to have something simple to remind me of what I used to like about them. I ordered the two tacos that are $1.89 now and I decided to try their onion rings. The tacos were exactly as I remembered them. Food that I should never recommend to anyone but I could eat probably everyday. The onion rings were a bit of a surprise for me as they were very crunchy and they tasted good. The people behind the counter were friendly and the service was good. It wasn't a very long wait for my food and for me it was worth every penny. The restaurant itself was fairly quiet and could have used a bit of cleaning in the dining area. I would definitely stop in again if I was in this area again. Where to start, let's see, had a mobile order, picked it up in the drive thru after waiting about 20 minutes. Pulled into the parking lot to see if we had all of our food since we almost never get all of our food no matter where we go, also didn't want to be rude to the cars behind us. Realized we were missing a chicken wrap, tiny loaded tacos, and the "breakfast" taco had no eggs in it. So I head in there with my 13 year old daughter and asked if perhaps they didn't give me all my bags because I was missing 2 main items. The guy behind the counter, Tristan, went to the back and about 5 minutes later came back and told me, "I put the chicken wrap in the bag myself" and I said, "Well it wasn't in the bag" he proceeded to argue with me and then said to me, "We're not giving out free food ma'am". He was so arrogant and rude I couldn't believe he has a job in customer service. After more back and forth I asked for corporates number, instead he gave me his managers number who he said "Wouldn't care". During the back and forth my daughter went out to the car to get my husband. My husband came in and told him about the missing food and he started arguing with him! I opened my burger to find that it was not a burger. There was no patty, the lettuce was also not the greatest. I moved on to the loaded tiny tacos. They looked like wet cat food. A large blob of lettuce and cheese and sauce? it was hard to tell what was going on in the little box. I was able to remove the blob to find cute little soggy tacos underneath. I got two value tacos and a breakfast burrito. I waited 5 minutes- the guy reassured me this was because they were making me fresh tacos. It turns out I was waiting while they sent someone out to chick fil a's dumpster to find lettuce for my taco. These were the nastiest tacos I have ever seen. Yellow/brown wilted/crusty lettuce. Unknown to us, he had overcharged us, but his co-worker Veronica caught it. She patiently explained how to correct it. I thought that was awesome! We thank her and sit down to await our food. While waiting, I see a woman approach what appeared to be a manager sitting at a table with two others. He listens to her complaint about them not getting her salad right. He actually looked annoyed and she looked even more frustrated by talking to him. She sits down and finishes her lunch. I end up needing mayo, so I get it but stop to talk to the manager to give him the positive feedback on his employee. His response was not thank you. He responded with "Veronica? Oh. She has her good days and bad days. She makes a lot of mistakes. Today is a good day. That's why we're here. We're trying to add new people to create a better atmosphere." Are you seriously kidding me? I've NEVER had a manager respond like that. Is there some reason that he felt that he needed to tell me that? How on earth can he talk about building a better atmosphere when he is NEGATIVE? If the atmosphere is negative, I'm assuming it's because they have a manager like him. My very first experience and I was very impressed! Drive thru open all night, inside until 10pm. I got a Jacks munchies box that came with 2 tacos, curly fries, and a grilled cheese double cheese burger! I also got some egg rolls! I've driven down here twice from Asheville, hoping to finally get my Jack In The Box craving fulfilled. The first time was at 11 at night, which shouldn't be a problem because it's open 24 hours. But alas, I was greeted with a sign saying "Closed due to short staff." Place is run so badly they can't even stay open. The second time, I made sure to get there earlier. I pull up at the speaker and order a Breakfast Jack combo, an extra Breakfast Jack, and a Monster Taco. I am told they are out of tacos. So I settle with the Breakfast Jacks. When I pull up to the window, I'm immediately told they are out of Breakfast Jacks. So basically, the two things I wanted aren't available. Geez, might as well have stayed closed. On top of that I got the 2 for 1 dollar tacos. The meat was pretty bland BUT the hot sauce they have near the drink machine made it pretty good. You can't beat 50 cent tacos.
