What a cute little hole in the wall for tacos in Hendersonville. It's pretty close to downtown, so we decided to check this place out. We came right as they were closing. They have picnic tables and seating outdoors which was nice, though might suggest bug spray because the mosquitos were loving my blood. They also had some indoor seating, but cooler summer night, we had to sit outdoors. The tacos were soooo good. My favorite was the pork belly that went surprisingly well with the watermelon rind relish. The shrimp taco was classically deliciously and the lamb gyro was also very tasty. We popped over for dinner on a Friday evening and the place was already full of families eating indoors and outdoors. Stopped in for a quick lunch at the WDT Shop today. Big menu, easy to read. Everything's a taco. They have lamb tacos which seemed popular, Shrimp Tacos, Fish Tacos and Black Bean and Cheese tacos. We did not get the lamb, but I did get the Fish tacos which were amazing. Highly recommend. My wife got the shrimp tacos which were also fantastic. We would go back and try other tacos on the menu. Nachos were good. Crispy and salty. The salsa was a little heavy on the garlic and cilantro, but tasted very fresh. The only downside was the wind and construction outside, but they have a nice outside eating area and the construction will be done soon enough. Oh, it's dog friendly outside too. We stopped by here on the back to Lake Lure from the Sliding Rock. It was a great location for a dinner stop. Parking was ample and outdoor seating was very pleasant on a summer evening. There were lots of taco choices. I had the Thai Chicken taco and probably won't order it again. My other family members had the fish taco, quesadillas and gyro taco. Our family came hungry and we were happily satisfied after our meal here. Of all the tacos we ordered, my favorite was probably the Fish Taco - it came with cabbage, pico de gallo, and chipotle crema. It was a simple taco but the flavors of the fish and toppings all melded together well. The fish was also deep fried and retained its crispiness in spite of the toppings. I also enjoyed the Pork Belly Taco, which came with pickled watermelon rind and a green onion aioli. I didn't expect to like the watermelon rind, but they pickled it well and the acidity with a hint of sweetness paired well with the pork belly. The Duck Confit Taco was also decent - it was a mole-flavored duck topped with lettuce, cranberry apple salsa, and crema. The flavor of the duck was good, but I thought the cranberry apple salsa was a bit sweet for my liking. The Tuna Tokyo was my least favorite - it was seared tuna with cabbage, cucumbers, wonton chips, and sesame seeds. The tuna was just way too salty - it seemed like it was soaked in soy sauce and / or a really salty brine that just overpowered the whole taco. While it sounded good on paper, it didn't taste as expected. We also ordered chips with queso which we were happy with. My kids each had their own tacos which they enjoyed. The service was very quick and friendly. It's a fast-casual setup, so we ordered at the counter and our food came out in a reasonable time. The space is nice, there was plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor. The parking lot attached to the building was small and a bit tricky to navigate, but I think there is ample parking in lots across the street. We had just finished hiking and we're very hungry. This location is pretty close to everything else but in kind of a random area with gravel roads. For this restaurant you walk up order get a number and they bring out your order. You self serve your drinks. After swiping my card they verbally asked me if I wanted to leave a tip and I just thought that was very unprofessional. First of all I haven't even tasted the food or gotten any service whatsoever to know what kind of tip I need to leave and second verbally asking someone can lead to pressure for the customer which is a no no. For someone who can possible have a less assertive personality or be not good with social situations this is just kind of put me off. After we got our drinks and sat down outside we got our food. We all got different tacos BUT I got the buffalo chicken tacos and they weren't really the best. The chicken itself had really good flavor but kind of was too big for the taco and felt like a block shaped chicken which was odd. The blue cheese was amazing but they should add some crumbles and that would be perfect. The queso dip was unique but delicious. The tortillas for the tacos are not handmade so nothing fancy but they do give you two per taco. I definitely recommend sticking to two tacos max as they're big and fill them up with a lot of food. My friends liked their tacos and I think they looked good but they are very unique. I stopped in here late on a Sunday for a quick dinner when I rolled into Hendersonville. The place is nice and has a cool hipster vibe to it. The interior is artsy and there was plenty of seating inside and out. I ordered a three taco dish which consisted of BBQ pork carnitas, Korean Beef and Steak and Cheese. All were delicious and a nice hint of heat to all of them. I also got a side order of the street corn salad. It was tasty and sweet. They had Oklawaha IPA on tap which went with the tacos nicely. This location is new from my last visit to the area, nicely decorated with colorful murals, hand written menu that is easy to read/understand and service that was excellent. There were many tables open so finding a seat was not an issue. Our chips and salsa came out properly followed shortly thereafter by our tacos and sides. The service was excellent, the food was delicious and there is always something on the menu to keep me coming back. The name of this place comes from the nickname the Chef earned when she got excited and animated with the kitchen staff. For about $4 per taco, I ordered three: the Bangkok Shrimp, Korean Beef Bulgogi, and the Crispy Pork Belly tacos. Each taco I tried was packed with filling and flavor-- especially on the spice! The Korean Beef Bulgogi came with kimchi and avocado puree. It packed a lot of heat but not so much that it was overpowering or unsettling. The Crispy Pork Belly came with pickled watermelon rinds and a green onion aioli, which I think the meat definitely needed because the meat was too dry. My favorite was the Bangkok Shrimp with cucumbers, chili aioli, and finished off with a sesame glaze. If I could go back, I would have ordered 3 of the Bangkok Shrimp Tacos. It was that good. I could taste the shrimp and it wasn't coated too much in the fried batter. All in all, this was a good place to grab a bite for lunch.
