He is extremely energetic, intelligent, and organized in his approach to his business. He is also all-round very pleasant and fun person to talk to. When asked, he actually gave me excellent advice on how to think about money when you're early career, though it's hard to imagine a time when Matt Zampella wasn't at the top of his field. Personally, I just needed a small condominium, but Matt provided me service that I'm sure was no less than he offers his other clients. When we hit a snag with our mortgage over a bogus hangup on the property of choice, Matt went to the bat and fought for and advocated for me. He was extremely reasonable with me in determining what properties were the right fit. When I almost went for a house instead, he provided a pleasant note of caution that my mother found really to be extremely wise upon review. I live in the East coast and I needed to help my 86 yo mother with very limited English and mobility to sell her house of 50+ years in San Francisco. The property is a 2 unit flat, 50% co-owned by my cousin who also lives outside of California. My cousin was EXTREMELY worried about a closed house sale that might have loose ends that could leave open an opportunity for buyers to later return and request more money, repairs, or sue us for something -- so he did not trust anybody to help sell the property. We discussed hiring a real estate lawyer to help with the process to ensure there were no holes where that could happen. Thankfully my good friend, whose parents' SF house Mike sold, referred me to Mike who happens to have a previous background as a real estate lawyer... perfect! His law background plus the time he took to talk with us over the phone won my cousin's trust. Mike's ability to immediately lay out an action plan and timeline to orchestrate people, services, inspections, paperwork, social media, and showings -- all around keeping my mother "comfortable" and minimally involved -- made it evident he had extensive knowledge and experience in selling all types of homes and conditions, and that he was going to get the job done in a timely manner... all the while he himself making it top priority to keep the process "stress-free" for my mother. Mike cares about his cllients. There were many complicating factors, including: 1) Inability of one of the owners (mother) to perform actions needed to sell the house, 2) Owners living in different states who have limited computer availability and knowledge, 3) Challenging acqusitition of property information: My mother's share of the property changed over the years as other family member owners with varying percentages passed away, with the last family member transferring his share to my mother -- not all this and information about the property prior to my family's ownership was cleanly documented on paper, 4) Multiple difficult and untrusting parties: One former family member owner complicated the situation as he was still tied to the property but not initially cooperative -- he has a rough and untrusting disposition if he does not know you, but Mike was able to win his trust (alongside my cousin's)! There were many issues with the property as it was older and had never been updated, outside of what was necessary repairs such as leaks. Mike wanted to know everything about the house, not just take our word for it, but he ordered typical and atypical inspections so that he could have all the information to disclose to buyers. Despite the lack of maintenance and updates over several decades, Mike saw the potential for what this property could be to others and helped potential buyers see this. Mike found buyers and we sold the house in a declining real estate market. From the time I first met Mike to the time the house closed was 2 months... which I think is fantastic taking all things into consideration. MIKE CONTINUES TO WORK FOR YOU, EVEN AFTER THE CLOSING: Fast forward 8 months later, Mike contacts me about the buyers wanting more money to help with their update of the water drainanage as they were experiencing flooding on the property from the unusual heavy rains. As in typical "Mike" fashion, he took it upon himself to write an understanding yet extensive response that further outlined all the disclosures from the closing paperwork and of the rarity of the unusually heavy rains -- to mitigate the situation. Mike further advised me to contact a realestate lawyer to write a formal letter, for which his company gave me references. The lawyer reviewed the case, and felt all disclosures were properly made and that there was no case. He wrote and sent a letter ... almost a year later I have yet to hear anything, so I am rest assured that the case is closed.
