I…read morework with people with disabilities and recently our agency signed up a group of our folks for gym memberships at Best Fitness. Because some of our folks don't use words to communicate and couldn't answer questions about their gym memberships, our staff supporting them called me for help when the front desk people at Best Fitness in Lowell couldn't find them on record. I spoke with an extremely helpful and professional woman named Taylor ("Like Taylor Swift but better" lol) who worked in their membership services department. She was very patient with us as we searched for our membership information for our folks and you could tell she wanted to help us out so our guys could access the gym. She was very helpful in her suggestions and tried everything she could to find their accounts so we could work out. She then said she'd add several notes explaining our agency and why the memberships were set up differently than most on our account. She also got us new key tags so we wouldn't be inconvenienced again. In our modern world, it's so common to get customer service people who are so overworked that they "can't be bothered" to take a few extra minutes to include people with disabilities. My thanks to Taylor and Best Fitness in Lowell for going above and beyond to run a supportive and inclusive environment!

I had an incident where there is about 15 minutes left prior to closing, instead of doing their routine of announcing closing time. This individual turned the lights off and on numerous times during members workout. In return this is a safety hazard for all members. Someone can injure themselves when the lights are off. I would not recommend this gym for anybody if safety is their priority!

The group classes are super- the trainer/owner Bobby keeps things moving and does a super job combining strength with overall conditioning. He listened to my goals and was able to tweak things. I had NO clue what I was doing, but that wasn't a problem. We started on the basics and form/safety. The other people in the classes are awesome, and range from newbies to really experienced athletes. It's a really fun environment where everyone motivates each other. After a couple months of the classes, I'm now trying individual training that has a martial arts focus. Bobby definitely did his research on my sport and caters the workouts 100% towards better performance. The prices may be a little higher than the big chain fitness centers, but you are paying for extremely high quality training and guidance. Totally worth it!!

Shortly after moving to the area I walked into the SBC and was greeted by the owner Bobby. Before discussing prices or anything of the such he gave me a walking tour of the facilities and asked me questions about myself and what I hope to achieve. His interest in his clients and members is genuine. He also does personal training sessions and you can tell from the man's physique he knows what he's talking about. So listen up. The facilities are perfect for improving yourself in anyway you see fit. Here you will NEVER have to wait for a squat rack haha. The gym's equipment definitely caters to the strongman/powerlifting/Olympic lifting crowd but it's not at all intimidating. Bobby has instilled a culture of family and respect. It's a very close community that you will be accepted into almost immediately. Even if I don't know the person someone is always ready and willing to give me a spot or give me some advice. There is also an on site Physical Therapist/Trainer named Brett. After dislocating my shoulder I wanted to get back into lifting heavy so I had a consultation with Brett. He set me down and went over my medical history, went through an examination of range of motion and strength. Then he proceeded to show me exercises to ease back into the lifting world and make sure I don't risk reinjury. It's been a year since the injury and so far so good. Brett also does training seminars and has a YouTube channel you should subscribe to. Also occasionally Bobby/Brett will bring in there dogs. Deadlifts & dogs? Can you ask for anything better? There is no other gym I would rather train at than SBC. It simply has the best equipment, community and personnel.

The academy has two pretty large studios, one is covered with mats and the other has foam-padded floor covered with convas, so if you fall it doesn't hurt, and it's easier on the feet too (not too many blisters). The place has spacious and clean changing rooms and restrooms, not always a given with martial arts studios. I don't study karate but I can see that Gary Card is a very nice guy and really good with kids and teens. I have been going there for the Capoeira program with Mestre Calango, who is amazingly skilled but also a very creative and caring teacher. Whether you want to take up a martial art for fun or to get in shape, or considering giving your energetic child something to do after school, I highly recommend this place.
