These guys stayed on the phone with me during a power outage on their end...gave lots of great information, set up an appointment and offered to squeeze us in if we had an emergency (flooding in our yard). Also very polite and kind on the phone. When the technician came, he was great too -- quick, polite, professional and did a great job. The prices were also very reasonable. I have no complaint on the septic cleaning that took about an hour. I did not like the $200 digging fee imposed on me. Yes I could do this myself, except I would have to find the cover locations for two tanks without digging several holes. The real problem was the operator refilled the holes but left one as a deep hole and the other was a big mound. Took me some time to re-dig the hole and mount to level the area. The digging fee looks like a 200 dollar per hour fee. read more

Very poor customer service. I was charged $100 for a dig fee. It was a matter of 6 in to get to the lid. The agent pulled the hose out and spewed raw sewage all over my lawn. When we first used Spack to pump our septic, I more or less picked them at random out of the phone book...which tells you how long we've been using them. The service has always been good. You can pick a time for them to come (especially if you give a few day's notice) and they've always showed up on schedule for us. The techs have been friendly and get the job done efficiently. Fantastic service. I've used them twice, this time was an 'emergency' or a backed up septic. Answered phone on first call, told me they could get to me in 24hrs, texted that the technician was on the way w/in 1 hr of my call. Rig was clean and neat. Technician was super friendly and professional - even answered my two boys' questions and honked the horn for them on the way out! : ) Bonus! Called them to come and inspect my septic and well due to home sale. I was stunned to see MR Jack, being incapable of doing his job, not even common sense things doesn't understand He comes in to inspect septic field with 3feet dip stick, the thickness of backfill on top of septic field on my property is 4-5 feet, he couldn't reach to the field. I did asked him do you have a longer deep stick, he sad no. May need to excavate that deep. Than he wright the report that septic draining doesn't pass the inspection. This is a big deal when you have incompetent person doing his job, than I have to deal with county, because of him doing a really pour job. I will not recommend this company to anyone. read more

Jack Spack is a well-known, well-established company in the area. They were recommended to us and we have used their services several times. Recently, we called them with a problem -- 7:30 pm at night -- not expecting to have someone answer the phone. Wayne is their scheduling guy. Turns out they could help us the next day or the day after. I was surprised to receive a call at 8:00 am the next morning. Turns out they could work us in early in the day after all. Great! The guys showed up at 8:30 am as promised. They let me hang out with them to watch and ask questions. They addressed the problem (full tank) and were on their way. Thanks, guys! read more

Called, emailed, and filled out web forms but they never called me back. Turns out that was a good thing. Used another company which did a great job and pointed out how Jack Spack ripped me off by not mixing the tank while pumping, not uncovering a second man hole so in reality they only pump half of one of my tanks, but charged me for pumping all of it. Over the past 25 years, I've used this company a few times for routine cleaning of septic system and keep having problems. Most recently, I made an appointment for 1 pm, took time out of my work day to be around and ready to show them where to dig + write a check.... and they didn't show up. No call, no email, no text, no follow-up. Previously, they'd done the service when I wasn't here and so I'd mailed a check which they claimed not to have gotten... I wanted to make sure before paying $35 for stop payment and said I'd follow up in a few days. The woman I spoke with was extremely rude; the check finally did arrive but we went with another service for several more cleanings. Unfortunately, they went out of business. I'd love to hear recommendations for a more reliable and customer service-oriented company in the area. read more

After much research I am now positive that when they came out to pump my septic the driver ghosted the entire job and did not pump the tanks at all. In fact he did not even expose the covers. My old father in law was at the house to wait for them, when he arrived my father in law went back inside as he is not able to stand long. The driver came to the door about twenty minute later, said the job was done and took the check for the service. I arrived home to find that the grass was not disturbed in the area at all and I have two 1000 gallon tanks so there should have been two spots for lid removal. I wonder how many old people this company has done this to. Don't ever use them. read more

I asked knowledgeable people in the area who they would recommend, and was always recommended to call Jack Spack. As a customer, they were always on time and charged a very fair rate. When I sold my home, an unscrupulous septic inspector for the buyer told me my tanks were damaged and needed to be replaced. I called Jack in for a second inspection, since they had serviced the tanks only months earlier. After thoroughly inspecting, taking photographs and notes, he wrote a report, refuting the other claim with proof. The other inspector had none. I cannot recommend him enough. His superb reputation is above reproach for a very good reason. read more

I can't believe I am the first to write any review on a Septic service in this area. (from what I found doing a yelp search) I have never ordered septic service before and didn't know where to start to find a reputable company. I did a bit of research on licensing and how to locate the lids, but Jack Spack had it covered. They have an extensive history of service, are licensed with state of Michigan DEQ and THEY WERE ON TIME. Actually a little early, but hey, I am not complaining! How often do you order service people to come out and they are on time or even early?! Perfect! I didn't need to be there, the tech were nice and curteous and I had full confidence that they knew what they were doing. I started asking questions back in Janaury via email through their website and Vicky was super nice and answered everything, though I often thought I must be annoying at times. It took until March to place the order, because I wanted to look around and make sure I was getting the best around. They were also the most affordable service. I don't usually give four stars, but I couldn't find a reason not to. Thanks JS! read more

I called Jack Spack when they were recommended by the operator at RotoRooter to pump out a slow-draining septic system with some back-ups through the laundry room floor drain. Their driver arrived promptly, had checked with the building department for the location and size of our septic tanks, and did a very thorough job of pumping out the tanks and snaking out the outflow to break up a grease jam in that pipe, Great work and everyone involved was polite and pleasant. read more

Good at what they do. Did not call when they could not make it our for a job. Had us waiting nearly 3 hours. We called them. They then informed us that it was rescheduled for the morning......says who!?!? Did not apologize or offer compensation. Rather, they said in a very parent scolding voice " would you like someone else to come out and take care of your problem." What happened to customer service? So we found another local company at took care of our problem ASAP. Will never return to JSS. read more

They were running a little late but once they arrived the gentleman was extremely efficient and was able to find our septic lids no problem even though we knew only roughly where they were. He left our yard virtually untouched and was done in under an hour even with our double tanks. Any questions I had over the phone were met with courtesy and they seemed to be very knowledgeable. After calling several other companies and leaving messages (3 of 4 have never called me back), I called Jack Spack Septic Tank Service and Dwayne answered the phone and set up an appointment on the day of my choosing. Jack came out when he said he would, did what he said he would do, and charged me what he said he would charge me. These are not that difficult of goals, but in today's lackadaisical service industry, Jack Spack was a pleasant and delightful man who helped me out of a jam.
