Not knowing any one i just…read morecalled the contact no mentioned in the website and spoke to Ms.Bellie Lionberger (Coordinator), she was so good in her approach, kind hearted and patient. She took me through the procedure so well and answered my calls every time i called her, it was so comfortable to get in as a volunteer. Thanks to Ms.Bellie. I was at the Third Street, i volunteered to help in the Kitchen serving the Clients Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, also helped in Cleaning the vessels, stocking items, clearing stock etc., The Kitchen Specialist - James and Mike are very hardworking and sincere, they are very good in preparing the food and very kind and supportive. The Supervisor - Ms.Dukes is another very kind hearted and patient person i came across, she would make sure everything is in place and even speak to Clients if there were any concerns. She always had a word of appreciation for everyone who did their job. I could see the responsibility she would take, may be even mobing the floor i have seen her doing it without blaming anyone or any complaints. She has also come to the Kitchen and helped serval times. Once i had informed her about a leak in the refrigerator, she immediately called for the service and ensured this was fixed. This something we all need to learn from, she is a good example how to get things fixed immediately. Ms.Juanita, the case manager, another very Kind hearted person i came across, she would come to the Kitchen to Help us when ever she finds the time and she is some one we all should learn from. Finally the Director - Mr.Samuel Fields, a true man of God!, i loved his sermons, his singing and sharing the word of God, So awesome... this makes me feel to come back every weekend to serve. Mr.Samuel is a down to earth Gentleman who is so humble and listens to everyone and even for the smallest issue he puts himself in to make sure we are all supported. A Great Team Work, As a Director he is respected by every one by his actions. I spent 8 days and all days were special at this site. I am happy to share this review as i see everyone, right from the entrance doing their jobs sincerely. This Site is truly blessed! Even the Clients are happy to come here as i have even spoken to some of them and they have spoken so high about this Site, its service, the food and people. Everyone is so humble and kind. Hats off to this team - DRMM, Third Street !!!

They had all the food items available and boxed and ready for us to taking our vehicle and get to location. Everything was well organized with phone numbers of the clients and addresses were set properly , and forms for recipients to sign if necessary.

SURVIVORS - CO-SURVIVORS - WALKERS FOR THOSE WHO PASSED - STRENGTH…read more I volunteered for the Avon Breast Cancer walk 2007 in SF. Although I was at the registration booth and not at the actual race, it was one of the most admirable and inspiring events I've attended. Learning about peoples stories, how many different teams there are, the custom made t-shirts and signs, diversity, and so much more, but most importantly the cause. I came across the Race for the Cure on the Detroit news and remembered the joy of volunteering last year, I decided to join again. This time, I joined on the day of the race....doing Children's Face Painting! I am definitely not the best face painter, but I enjoyed every moment of it! I arrived at 6:30am, already full of people, and got on the job at 7:30am. It was kid after kid, smiles and smiles, next thing I knew, it was 10am and it was time to clean up. I had so much fun, I forgot to take a break or even get something to eat! I met a bunch of great people who have been volunteering for years. There was a stage where the host was getting everyone to walk down the pink carpet. "Walk for those who can't! Walk for those who can't! Survivor! Survivor! Walk if you are a survivor! Fighters! Fighters! We will fight! We will fight! ....." The host was yelling those inspirational words to the beat of the drums. Many people danced their way down the pink carpet while a photographer took pictures of them at the end. There were people dancing from the bleachers. Everyone was having a great time! Nothing beats the feeling of volunteering your time or joining a great cause. I am looking forward to next years walk and any other's I come across until then. ~INSPIRED

Celebrating survivors and supporting suffers of breast cancer, this one day event has grown so large they had to move from the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak to Woodward Ave and Comerica Park. It's absolutely shocking to see that the majority of participants are somehow, some way, involved with breast cancer, whether it be a grieving friend, a fighting survivor, or a fellow co-worker, the Walk for the Cure will make you realize that you are support a cause that affects well, almost everyone. Often held in mid-July by the Karmanos Cancer Institute this 2 mile walk/run is a fantastic way to get involved and support a worthy cause. It probably is more of a 4 to 4 1/2 star but honestly, when actually comparing it to others, I would give it a five. If I compare it to resale stores, maybe a then a 4. The way it was organized was terrific, and it made things very easy to find. The staff working, there were friendly, helpful, and overall just kind. And the selection of certain items were very good. I would probably say in terms of quantity and overall quality it would depend what you're looking for. Clothing I would probably say is a 3 to 4 star experience based on amount and pricing. But if you're looking for HomeGoods, kitchenware, or other things of that genre, it has a lot to offer. I was particularly impressed that they took the time to label the size and type of the linens. This is not something I've seen done at a thrift store before and it is extremely useful. I actually ended up getting some curtains for my photography business as a result. Normally, I don't take that risk because I can't tell what they might fit like. The linen area was amazing. Highly recommend if you're looking for table cloths, sheets, placemats, etc.. I also was impressed with how they have the jewelry laid out. And it made me think about some of the stuff that I have wanted to donate for jewelry, but I haven't felt comfortable bringing to Goodwill or Salvation Army. The staff are very personable and have done a phenomenal job of providing ABA services for my child. Over the past few months that he has been there, he has made tremendous strides and has developed a great skill set. In addition to providing excellent services, the facility is SPOTLESS! I have experienced other larger organizations where tidiness were not key and/or older worn out toys/objects were still being utilized. Everything here is in tip top shape and well taken care of. Any family seeking ABA services from a skilled, thoughtful, and passionate staff should definitely seek services from EIC!
