Love this gym. So many different options. They have a separate women's section and all of the machines you could think of are there too. They also offer all tons of classes. The membership includes so many amenities, it's hard to keep up. It's worth checking out. read more

I took my sons to this facility for the first time for a basketball clinic and I did not have the best of an experience. The facility is predominantly Arabic, which should not be a problem, but the teenage kids were super rude and also tried to picking fights with my son during the basketball clinic I paid for my son to be in. They were making racial remarks to him, which is super sad! No child no matter what race should have to experience any kind of racism any where they go. Sadly, I see this has been going on for some time and others have complained and nothing has been done. I most definitely will not put my kids in anything else they have to offer and I would not recommend this place to anyone. It's so sad because the facility is beautiful, but none of that matters when you have to deal with such horrible behavior. read more

My son has been a part of HYPE basketball league for years. I have been reluctant to purchase a membership due to the atmosphere of the kids there. I went against my better judgment and purchased my 15-year-old son a membership. I asked the representative at the front desk if there would be supervision of my son as I did not have a membership. She assured me that there was always adequate supervision. My son and his friend were taunted, called the N word by a group of children of Arabic decent. My son and his friend went to the kids mother and advised her of what the children were saying. The mother told my son that her kids did not say that. The children continued to taunt my son . They displayed a picture of a heavy set African American man on their cell phones and told my son that the picture was of him. Coach Moe tried to blame my son for the incident. Thankfully, my son's friends' mother was present to advocate for my son, as this coach was definitely going to blame the situation on him. This facility is in serious need of diversity and equity training. I do not feel that my son is safe at this facility. These kids that are not of African American decent throw the N word around like it is a normal part of their vocabulary. The staff needs to also be trained in diversity and equity. I NEVER write reviews on yelp so for me to come on here means a lot. ALI the court manager is TERRIBLEEEEEE at getting back to people. I run a league and I have been trying to simply rent a few courts for our guys to play. BUT... Every single time i call it goes to his voicemail and he states that he will get back to you within the next 24-48 hours but that is just a straight up lie. I called last week, and I haven't heard back, sooooo I called hype again this week to get an update on why he hasn't reached out and big surprise... it went to his voice mail. So, I left a voicemail and it's been 3 days since then and still no response. Terrible customer service. Should not be a manager if he is not able to simply give someone a call back even if it's to tell them that the courts are unavailable. read more

Uniforms, refs, games being played on time are all part of the different leagues, setups. The restaurant does an amazing job of feeding the hungry players and families. The food is first rate. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The gym itself is okay but in order to have a membership you have to have a card on file and they always overcharge you. I go in to make my payments on time and they told me I was "late" even though I still have the receipt with the time and date showing that I was on time. I just payed the rest of my membership in full so I no longer have to deal with late fees or them trying to charge my card. I just got a message that they tried charging my card for $35 even though I paid my membership in full (which I doubled checked that I paid in full). I think the cities surrounding HYPE needed a place like this. HYPE hosts a ton of events. Especially for the younger generations. The gym is usually kept together pretty well. Plenty of weights and machines. The workout area could be cleaner though. Last I was there it smelled funny and felt a little dusty. They have a "women only" workout area blocked off which I think is a nice feature. The basketball courts are massive. Never had anything from the food court but it's a nice addition. My biggest complaint has to be the staff. Specially the late nights staff. We rent a b-ball court there every now and then and the late night staff is horrible. No professionalism. Always on there phones. Screaming at each other or at their friends. Not paying much attention. The employees definitely lack people skills and could use some training in that area. Overall I think HYPE is a solid poverty for anyone looking to get a workout or get their children involved in some extracurricular activities read more

Nice enough facility but both the facility and the tournament we were there for was not run so great. The made a point on their page of saying all games would start on time, but our first game was almost 20 minutes late. By the second day our last game started a full hour late. No one seemed to know what the cause was. They also funnel everyone through a very tight hall way to both enter and leave so there is a big log jam right were people are trying to come and go, while others are trying to stand there so they can see when there next game is. The most irritating thing was they appear to have two sets of public restrooms and one set of "Member Only" restrooms. One set of the public ones were out of order (men's and women's) yet they still would not allow people to use the "Member Only" restrooms even though there were hundreds of people there for the tournament and I think I saw a total of about 10 members there for the whole weekend. Since it had the highest admission price of any tournament we have been at this summer, I am sure they make a lot of money off of it; I would think the least they could do is make allowance for the restrooms while a portion of their facility was out of order. read more

I have recently moved to the Dearborn area and have been greatly saddened by the lack of customer service until I went to Hype gym and met Fadia. She was welcoming,polite and very helpful. To be honest I was shocked. Since my initial experience with the staff at Hype I have had equally pleasant experience. It is very refreshing to see someone greet you and smile. read more

I highly recommend Hype because it is an all around great value. The women's gym has all new equipment. They have a variety of free group classes for members like Zumba, yoga, bootcamp, and kickboxing in the morning and evening, so you are never bored and get a great workout. read more

I never write any reviews about a place but for this, I had to. I even made an acct on here just to do it for this specific place. I honestly don't know if this is a Michigan thing because it's happened every where I've been (not originally from here obviously.) But professionalism DOES NOT EXIST in 90% of the places here, Hype being one of them. The whole staff is behind the counter, not one of them ever acknowledges except one guy, out of the 6 or how ever many there are there, mirror in the woman's gym upstairs is almost to the ceiling I'm guessing whoever installed it was 6' something, and the weight room is always cluttered and missing parts on the equipment. I honestly hate it and if there was a woman's only gym closer, I would go but I'm limited on choices. Please train staff better. Customer service is everything and it seems like the workers there have no idea what that his. read more

My family is new to Hype and I put my child in the winter league. I have noticed there is a lot of favoritism and the newer players aren't given the attention and coaching that the players that have been there longer get. I think that is completely unfair and doesn't give the newer kids a chance to make it on the teams. Which is unacceptable, everyone pays the same and should be treated the same as well. read more

Hype is a very dirty place that has not been swept or vacuumed since it first opened. There's a yoga instructor named Dunia who called us monkeys and she still works there. The all female gym has signs that say to not take pictures yet girls take pictures all the time and no one does anything about it. The smells are unbearable and the front desk does absolutely nothing. read more

This is a great gym, especially after all the expanding. The staff is super nice and helpful. My clumsy self dropped my phone inside the stair master (don't ask me how). This place is pretty nice. Bathrooms are always clean, there is always someone willing to help you out when you are working out. The oher day I saw one of the guys that work at the center organizing a bunch of kids with police officers, so i went to ask what was going on, and they said that every year HYPE goes out to the community and helps kids cross the streets in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights during Halloween. read more

HYPE GYM runs $125,000 in unauthorized credit card charges against its 5000 members says CEO of HYPE GYM, "Its for a good cause". They charged my credit card with out my permission, and violated my wife's member agreement. I talk to 2 people on the phone, they both agreed that the charge was not authorized in the contract, and still argued that it was justified, and later the CEO told me that he charged 5000 other members in the same way, and only 5 people complained. (This is also consistent with the notification that was sent in the mail) So over the phone, the CEO, yes the CEO is his title, told me that I was making a big deal over 25 dollars, and that I could come and get it. I showed up and instead of paying me, he tried running his manipulative argument again. After 5-10 mins of his idiotic arguments, claiming even though the added surprise fee wasn't in the contract it was for a good cause, and he isn't spending it on himself; he finally gave me my money. And claimed he was pulling it out of his own pocket. And then accused me of insulting his family (I did not). He then told, "Get out of here before I break your face". Important thing to note, 25 X 5000 is $125,000 dollars that he claims he ripped off his own gym members for. Regardless of what contributions HYPE may make to the community, the members are not a bank, that can charge when ever they feel like it. If times are tough maybe he should take a pay cut from his ______ dollar nonprofit salary or do what most non-profits do, run fundraisers. I will delete this post, when this guy decides to be a gentlemen and apologizes, and refunds every unauthorized credit card transaction the he has made this year. Oh yeah, forgot to mention when he decided to start threatening me all of his whole crew (family members?) started to crowd around me, and I was trying to get my wife to hurry up and follow me, and stop talking to them. There was a huge scene, by the time I got into the parking lot, and my wife was still trying to talk, this random guy playing the role as bouncer told us, "Yall need to get the fu*** out of here". Its amazing how these idiots with zero customer service skills get so many grants. I hope they get a real CEO, who knows not to threaten there customers. I have a copy of the agreement and the letter, just in case he wants to get on here and lie about it. Hopefully he won't try to hunt me down and break my face as he has already threatened to do. It would be great if they looked up the word customer service and took some notes on it. They are so ignorant and rude and some of the most disrespectful people I've every encountered. They choose who to respect and who not to respect. But, that's the problem when you let teenagers act like they run the place. I doubt anyone will ever get a chance to learn professionalism and it's quiet sad. As a parent day to day can be really difficult in planning meals when your family is always on the go! I have two girls ages 6 and 10 and becoming overweight. I have done swimming lessons which helped for one but not so much for the other! I happen to call Hype athletics in Dearborn and was told about a program called Speed Agility for kids taught by George Goodman.. Let's just say this is an awesome program that get kicks moving and weight loss is quick ! Mr. Goodman is awesome with the kids. My oldest is gaining confidence and sees the result of this exercise program! Mr. Goodman pushes the kids in such a great way to get them moving! He gives The children motivation and a friendly no judging environment and you can actually see the joy in his face helping the kids. He's a great asset to HYPE!! With Obesity being at Alarming rates in children This is the Guy you want your child with for 1 hour out of a day to get them on the right track! You will see your child make healthy choices on their own without being asked! Most of all the program is Super Affordable and your child will sweat! I'm all for George Goodman and the Speed Agility class so you must call and ask about this awesome program especially designed for children ages 5 and up! read more

he gym it's self isn't bad. I would not recommend this place for anyone older then 12. The workout room is decent with minimal options. The work staff is very disrespectful and rude to all guests; They talk to you like they're your friends, I guess that's what happens when you hire 15 year olds to run your business. The bathrooms are never clean, paper thrown everywhere. I made a complain about blood being on the bathroom floor, I came in the next day and it was still there. The gym is always packed with events that take up the basketball courts, and with these events come hundreds of people who take up every parking spot. Overall I will never step foot in this gym, either change the management or close the place down. read more

Poorly run scam. Took my kids to the Back to School Fair, paid $20 to get access to rides, games, petting zoo, face painting, bounce houses and pizza, as well as a backpack filled with school supplies. That's fair, right? Well, the event was scheduled to run until 6 p.m. We arrived at 4 p.m. Still plenty of time, or so I thought. After paying, we discovered there were no more backpacks. Fair enough, they ran out. There was no more pizza. Also fine, they ran out. The overcrowded bounce houses were being ignored by the teenagers who were meant to be supervising, so I pulled the kids out because it wasn't safe. Took them to find face painting. Face painter: "Sorry, closed. I was only paid until 4." FINE. Took them outside for the petting zoo. Petting zoo operator: "Sorry, I was supposed to leave at 4." Games? NOPE. Rides? NOPE? A balloon, at the very least? NOPE. Out of helium. I paid $20 for my kids to bounce in an overcrowded bounce house for less than five minutes. I returned to the front desk where the owner, Ali, was seated. I explained to him that I was disappointed that there was literally nothing left to do and I felt ripped off. He immediately got loud (because there were people behind me who had just walked in and were ready to pay) and said, "OH YOU WANT ATTENTION? YOU WANT TO LET YOUR KIDS PLAY ALL THE GAMES AND NOT PAY FOR IT? FINE! HERE, TAKE YOUR MONEY BACK SINCE YOU DON'T WANT TO PAY!" I was so angry that he tried to paint me as a scammer when he's the one who was bilking people out of money I could barely speak. Likewise, I'd already enrolled my little one in gymnastics at this miserable place. I wanted no further interaction with Ali, otherwise I'd have cancelled and requested a refund. So I took my kiddo to the first 30-minute class. It was held in an upstairs, out of the way storage room with a few mats on the floor. There was one teenage girl to supervise a dozen 3-5 year olds. Alright, I thought, maybe she knows what she's doing. Nope. She was confused, totally unable to keep order, even with parents assisting (a few, most just stood there, as is typical of Dearborn parents) , and so disorganized that each child got to do ONE flip on the mat and walk the beam one time. I thought maybe the disaster was simply due to this being the first class, so brought little one back the following week. Once again, the teenager "teaching" the class was so disorganized the kids ended up just running all over for the full 30 minutes, except for the first five minutes when she managed to wrangle the children and had them do static stretches BEFORE they warmed up. Does anyone not know how dangerous this is, especially for preschoolers? Well, she doesn't. When "class" was over, I approached her and asked first if there'd be another teacher coming in because she seemed overwhelmed. She said, "He's trying to get me someone, but I don't know." I then asked whether the incredibly dingy mats were sanitized after each class. She said, "Ummmm, i think the janitors or somebody is supposed to clean them?" And that's how everything from ringworm to MRSA is spread, my friends. I took my kid home and haven't returned. I just wrote it off as yet another scam by CEO Ali. How this clown is still in business is a mystery. read more
