I probably wouldn't advise driving up here in a car, you need an suv atleast. There is also no signage on 555 for this. You have to know where to look. A hidden gem in the PA Wilds.

Worlds End is another fantastic state park in Pennsylvania! There are a lot of sights to see and…read morethings to do. Unfortunately, the weather interfered with our ability to see as much as we had hoped, but we still had a great time! There is a nice visitor center with a variety of historic and nature info available, including some great info on the CCC work that took place in the park (there's a really nice interactive model of a CCC camp too) and how and where the park name is suspected to have been derived from. There is a real snake to look at, as well. A very nice playground is located nearby, and this section of the park also offers easy access to the Loysalsock Creek and the beach with a snack bar, plus multiple picnic tables and shelterhouses. It's beautiful even just to look at the valley walls and the creek itself. There are several gorgeous vistas available, some by foot and some by foot or car. We especially liked the Loyalsock Canyon Vista, which can be reached on foot or by car. It is located next to the Rock Garden, which is a very neat grouping of giant rocks and boulders that is a lot of fun to check out. The park also offers camping and plenty of trails. Worlds End is located within the Loyalsock State Forest, so there is also a lot more that one could explore in the area.

This is a great remote spot to hike, camp, fish, and generally just get away from everything. It…read moreis located within the Rothrock State Forest, adjacent to Greenwood Furnace State Park, and near the site of an old CCC camp. There are 18 rustic campsites, with water fountains/spigots, non-flush toilets, picnic tables, and grills available for campers and day use visitors. There are garbage cans available, but it is advised that you pack out your trash if possible. The roads leading into and out of the park are unpaved and are not plowed in the winter. Four wheel drive is not necessary to get there, but if you drive a car that is low to the ground be aware that the trip up will not be the smoothest. We spent a long weekend here in mid October, and while there were a few other couples and families camping on Fri/Sat night, on Sunday we were completely alone. It was isolated and a little creepy, but ultimately it was really nice to be away from civilization! Rangers drive through a couple times of day. There are some nice trails, lots of wildlife (keep your food in your car, if you don't want to be visited by foxes and coyotes in the middle of the night) streams, and a pond that is stocked for fishing. It is a nice, quiet place to kick back & enjoy the outdoors. I am really looking forward to visiting again!

It is only a few minutes outside of town, has a huge parking lot, and a gravelled trail, making it very easy for older or feeble folks to enjoy some of beautiful Rothrock. The trail very slightly slopes uphill for the first part and isn't too difficult. After it crosses the powerlines, however, it gets quite steep so the less adventurous should turn back at that point!

It's popular with bears who like the wild blueberries that grow here and with birders. It's fairly remote; surrounded by ridges so the lights from State College and other smaller towns are mostly blocked out and there are open areas where the trees don't get in the way. You can see the milky way on any clear night.
