Jacksonville Baldwin Rail Trail is…read morebasically old railroad tracks that has been paved, creating a very long, straight, stretch of paved road that reaches up to 15 miles one way (close to 30 miles combined).   This place makes it ideal for bike riding, walking, jogging, running, roller blading, skating, etc...or whatever you want to do.   There are Mile Markers per each mile you pass and once you reach the halfway point, there is an accessible restroom and benches for you to rest until you are ready to go again. It is always well kept. Great views and nice scenery along the way.   I come here particularly for the biking aspect. What a great way to churn out 30 miles of cardio and exercise, while enjoying the nice view along the way. I have found that most road bikers tend to favor this place due to its simplicity and how safe it is (because you are not riding on the side of the road). It is not the mountain bike trails that I would prefer, but it is a perfect Option B for me.   I do want to warn you that through a part of your ride, you will pass a pig farm from afar, and the scent will be a bit shietty and unpleasant. So prep yourself and think & smell happy thoughts as you pass through this. Also note...along the way you will cross actual roads, so be sure to always practice safety and look both ways before crossing.

Water Views: There's a beautiful pond featuring a kayak launch and an event center available for rentals. Peace & Quiet: This park is completely tucked away. I've visited twice now and was the only person there both times. The trails looked pretty clean; I think they have volunteers that come through periodically. The south parking lot is tiny but there is parking at a senior center off Beach nearer to the dirt jumps which I guess is fine to use? I mean, it's owned by the city as well, not a private business. Unless you're interrupting bingo night I would think it fine to park over there. Be watchful for snakes including possibly cottonmouths. I did not see any but one trails goes between a lake and swampy, flooded, area and seems prime for water snakes--I like snakes but don't want to encounter a cottonmouth on a trail and this seems a great place to do just that.

This side of the park has 3.6 miles of hiking paths, however, you can combine the path with a total of 11.5 miles of multi use trails that traverses between Pumpkin Hill Creek and three nearby city parks... I decided today without my hiking shoes on to drive a little further down and across the street to the canoe/kayak launch which also has picnic tables to enjoy my lunch! It was so serene, there were birds everywhere, and I was the only human in site or sound... I'll definitely be returning with my camelback and maybe a bonafide picnic in toe to get a better look at the trails and what FL parks have to offer...

It was extremely difficult to push a stroller through both trails. There were tree routes, homeless camp debris, and steep drop offs for mountain biking. We never made it to the waterfall because the trails were poorly marked, and we kept going on trails where the brush was hard to go through. There is a bathroom and picnic tables, with maps of the trails, but I would recommend using Alltrails or Strava for guidance.

If you consider where it actually is and the time, effort, funding and "blood, sweat & tears" put in to make this place exist, it's an incredible thing to appreciate. From what was a huge mound of trash, it is now a playground for bike riders that's fun, safe and accessible. This was a nice trail to walk with a stroller . There was plenty of parking. At first it was only…read moreme and one other car, then by the time we finished there were two more cars in the parking lot. We didn't run into anyone on the trail. The trails were well marked for the main, side, and exit trails. There was plenty of information at the front about the history and layout of the preserve. It was a mixture of grass, dirt, and gravel, with minimal tree roots. The trails were cleared and mowed. Even though we didn't do the whole trail, there was still plenty of trail to walk. One complaint was even though we applied bug spray, there were a lot of mosquitoes.

We've been here many times and love walking these trails!!!…read more So quiet and love the wildlife. It has so many large beautiful trees on this property. It runs next to the old Cecil Field military base. I was told back in the day this property used to be a private hunting camp back in the 50's through the 70's. We've walked pretty much each trail on the property and love each one. We usually take our time and spend around 2 or so hours hiking. Today we just kept it short due to my foot was still hurting from when I hurt it a few months ago. I definitely recommend this hiking trail! Added note; make sure you use the restroom first before get here because there are no facilities here (unless you like going next to trees lol).
