    Beautiful sunset on the river!
    Michelle D.

I attended my first event at Jacksonville Riverwalk, Sip & Stroll. It's held monthly, every third Thursday, from 5-8 PM including live music, wine, beer and spirits and several food trucks. It was a hot May evening but there was a nice breeze coming off the river. There was a New Orleans style band which was amazing! The water taxi also had a band and were offering free rides. Riverwalk is a beautiful area with a brick walkway along the river, some green space with a few chairs and tables and benches scattered throughout. Picked up food from La Bodega. I had the Original Empanada and Papa Relleno. The food was delicious! I also had a twist cone (vanilla and chocolate) from Mister Softee;) It helped cool me off. As well as a Mexican lager from Intuition and a grapefruit vodka Seltzer cocktail. I will absolutely be coming back for the next Sip & Stroll. I suggest you come downtown and attend next months event too!

Absolutely wonderful Riverwalk in Jacksonville, that I was happy to come across and explore. Very relaxing area to take a morning walk and watch the sun come up.

This is a great spot to run, walk and/or people watch! It's right on the river, hence the name. The breezes along the riverwalk on the day I went was absolutely perfect! There are a few metal black benches scattered through the walk but not much shading from the sun. The part of the riverwalk that I walked had a hotel, restaurants, park and office buildings. The bridges that go over the river are a nice sight! I would t say there's a ton to do along the riverwalk though.

I am so thankful to our city for building this wonderful riverwalk on both sides of the St. John's River for all people to stroll, walk, or run and enjoy the beauty of the river. I love walking along on my lunch breaks in downtown Jax. Thankful!

Jacksonville Riverwalk is a great place to take an evening scroll, exercise, or just sit and admire the waterway. There's a shaded area perfect for picnics or family gathering. There are benches along the walkway. There are great views of the bridge. Artwork lines the wall under the overpass. Near the end of the walkway, there's a public restroom which is fairly clean. It's the perfect spot to relax.

Nor did I realize most of the dark rides across the whole world are created and developed here! It was amazing!! Our tour guide led us through the building while showing us all of the stages of creating an epic dark ride. This made me think about amusement parks in a whole different way. The tour was about an hour and was very informative. We asked lots of questions and met people from different departments along the way. Highly recommend booking a free tour and checking this out. It would be great for kids as well!

It was a bit too far and too expensive for what it was so I decided to do my own research of places he would love, Sally Corporation became the place. I filled out the reservation form online and was told there were no spots available during our time in Florida. I couldn't take no for an answer. I emailed back explaining how much my son wants to be a Robotics Engineer and that we would wait as long as we needed to snag a spot. We got an email back the next day that two spots opened up!!! We made our way downtown and parked for free in the back. We entered to learn that the tour was also FREE...FREE! This facility is HUGE! They are arguably the largest producer of Dark Ride Amusements in the US and don't just make the robotic aspect of the animatronics, but they handle EVERY aspect of the creation and completion. The tour takes you to each department and you are truly immersed in their production. It is an working operation so you get to see the people behind the scenes at work, which was SO DAMN INSPIRING for my 11 yo who has told me for 4 TM years that this is what he wants to do in life. He got to see what his future could be like, which is absolutely priceless. The staff, facilities, location, displays, animatronics, all were 5 stars! Hands down a MUST when in Jacksonville! The answer here is an 80/20 split for good. The vast majority of their animals are rescue from shut down zoos, and people thinking they can own a tiger. However, they did some breeding years ago, so there are a few "bred in captivity" animals. They no longer breed, which is a plus. They also don't go in the enclosures with the big cats, which I appreciate. The employees were very knowledgeable. The enrichments really seemed to be enjoyed by the animals. The whole walkway along the water has that perfect "just keep strolling" feel. You get nonstop views of the river, boats passing by, and the skyline stretching out in the distance. It is one of those places where you start walking without a plan and suddenly realize you have gone way farther than you meant to because it just keeps pulling you along. My family and I took our time, stopping every few minutes just to look out at the water or take pictures. The breeze off the river made everything feel cooler and calmer, even with people out and about enjoying the day. There were joggers, families, couples, and everyone just kind of sharing the same peaceful stretch of space. What I liked most is how simple it is. No big attractions needed, just a clean, open riverfront path that lets you slow down and enjoy Jacksonville at your own pace. Five stars. Perfect place to walk, talk, and take in the river views without any stress at all.

I hadn't been to the Jacksonville Zoo in years, so I was excited to see all the renovations. While the grounds look nicer, it also felt like there were far fewer animals than I remember. I was not able to find a several favorites, including the gorillas, cheetahs, and Florida panthers, and quite a few exhibits felt empty. I know animal collections change over time, but it just didn't feel like there was nearly as much to see. I was also disappointed to hear the koi fish had been transferred to another zoo since they were always one of my favorite stops. For me, the biggest issue was the value. Ticket prices have gone up, but I left feeling like I paid more to see less. The highlight of our visit was the people. The volunteers in the jaguar and rhino areas were incredibly knowledgeable and made those exhibits so much more interesting, and a staff member from a bird enclosure remembered us when we ran into them later in the day at the stingray exhibit. Those interactions honestly saved the experience. I have so many great memories of visiting this zoo growing up, which is probably why this visit was so disappointing. I really hope they continue adding to the animal collection because I'd love to have a reason to come back.
