I met the owner, David, when he was doing some work for a neighbor. The neighbor spoke highly of…read morethe experience and the result, so I called the company. And I called one other company for a second bid. David showed up in time for our appointment, and his explanation of the problem (80 year old mortar in our brick house was falling out). The previous owner had gotten some of it repaired. That mortar was failing, too. I was particularly concerned because one pillar that carries a heavy load was cracked so badly (see photo) that you could see daylight through it from top to bottom. David explained why it had failed, and how the repair work someone had done years ago made matters worse. His bid that was about the same price as the other firm, but his explanation -- and the bid itself -- were so clear that D. Masonry was my obvious choice. He provided me with proof of insurance, too, a request the other company ignored. They lived up to my high expectations. Watching them work, I realized that tuck pointing is a highly skilled craft, practically an art form. They took the time to mix and try a range of mortar colors. With their help, we selected the one they advised. Now that the new mortar has completely dried, I can see it is a perfect color match. The pillar I was so nervous about? They elaborately jacked up and stabilized things, so they could remove the pillar, which they disassembled completely, laying out all the bricks (with all the old mortar removed), so they could put them back exactly as they were, only sturdy now, and good as new. Masonry repairs -- done well -- simply disappear when the work is done, right? As long as I own this house, my gratitude for this job-well-done will live on.

After it was taken over by weeds and dug up by our schnauzer a few too many times, it was time to do it right. Cody came out for an estimate and design consultation. He is such a great guy who explains how it all works, gives you a reasonable number of options (helpful for me to not have information overload), and gets things moving. And for the work itself, these guys work hard and nonstop when the job begins. They show up on time and work full speed from morning until evening to get the job done. They build the patios in ways that work for Colorado weather, and they actually specialize in pavers, instead of a landscape company that doesn't do these types of patios nonstop. Paver patios are not cheap, but they're also not something you should do on your own unless you absolutely know what you're doing. If you're looking at redoing your outdoor space or patio, you should absolutely give these guys a look.

Our assigned project manager, Jeremy, was friendly and very professional, had insurance and license info ready at hand when asked, produced a reasonable quote, and did great follow up. The work crew, Freddy and Rigo, were absolutely fabulous.... Neatly and properly dressed, super courtesy while quietly working with the least amount of noise possible, never yelling or blasting music or slamming things around, and they were industrious throughout the day despite the 100 degree heat. These guys were very respectful of the property, demonstrated attention to detail in their work: measuring twice, using levels to make the wall perfect, were careful when moving equipment and product, and when using tools/machinery. They also cleaned up the job site... cleaner than when they first arrived! They didn't damage any plants, and left not a trace of their presence. With other companies and contractors, I have found water bottle caps, candy wrappers, cigarette butts, trampled flowers, bark kicked out on sidewalks, manufacturer stickers/labels laying around from products used or installed, nails or stains left on various surfaces; but this crew of Little Guy Pavers was just the opposite, and just excellent! He took the time to hand select bricks for best color and is even color matching the mortar to match our older home's existing mortar. It is hard to find specialists like Zach, who replaces cracked or broken bricks on your home's exterior walls, hearth or chimney. I'd recommend calling him. Don't let that cracked brick let water in your home, get Zach to fix it for you!

We couldn't believe some of the prices people were asking for flagstone on nextdoor and Facebook for a measly pile. This is a great alternative. CASH or CHECK only. They do not accept credit cards so keep that in mind. We bought two pallets that were delivered when they said they would deliver. We had a great experience and would return! It's best to just GO there rather than call to see if they have supply. There is SO much inventory, it's worth a walk through! It's like Disneyland for DIYers!

So how the process goes is you take a look around and find what you want then you speak to someone about how much that type of brick costs. Typically they are $.35-.$.45 a brick regardless of how many you buy. We ended up easily saving a couple hundred dollars for the bricks we needed compared to buying brand new bricks. Then you load them up and pay in the office. Keep in mind that they only accept cash or check I thankfully happened to have a check in my wallet but I typically don't have them on me.
