Her teaching is so meticulously thought out and the practice lessons are simple yet so precise as to yield excellent results. When she explains the nuances of lettering, breaking down shapes and spacing of letters and and how all of it effects the finished impression, I'll never look at handwriting the same again. She has volumes of books that she put together to help with whatever style calligraphy one is interested in and was able to, with a short conversation, figure out exactly what was best for my goals. I walked in with zero experience and a pretty rough scrawl and am confident with consistent practice with her methods that I will absolutely succeed. After a thorough google search, I can only say: thank goodness for Ernesto! He not only became like a a family friend during the process (love all the treats you get when you spend time in his store!) but he was incredibly knowledgeable and professional throughout the journey of finding the perfect Save the Dates and my wedding invitations. Not only was he able to provide quality paper goods but he does absolutely beautiful calligraphy and was able to do the artwork for my invitations. Unfortunately, the owner was very bad with communication. She quoted me a price but then would not…read moreallow me to drop off my item for engraving. She took many days in between each communication, which wasted a lot of my time. I only had two weeks to get the job done, but she wasted much of that before telling me she wouldn't do it. Left a dry message at the end (after many communications trying to coordinate) that she could not do the job ...and then stopped replying altogether. Now I will miss my deadline for the sweet and thoughtful gift my group had planned for my friend. Ava Piper & Co really let me down. She was polite, but in the industry I imagine that trust to get a job done is very important. I'm very disappointed.
