Donna Singer was my therapist and I can't sing her praises high enough. She knew what exercises to have me do and was very encouraging and knowledgeable. And the fact that this Center is associated with HSS gave me more confidence that I was in the right hands. From my observation, I think all of the therapists there are highly trained. They are all very caring in your progress and everyone who works there is extremely nice.

Dr. Costa is professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate, and he takes the time to truly listen. His PAs, Bobbi and CJ, are both outstanding--attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. They take the time to explain everything clearly and make each visit feel comfortable and reassuring. A special thank you to Barbara, who truly went above and beyond to help me with my insurance. She was patient, thorough, and proactive, making sure everything was handled properly so I could get reimbursed. Her dedication and kindness turned what could have been a stressful situation into a smooth and positive experience. I am extremely grateful for the exceptional care and outstanding service from Dr. Costa and his entire team. I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for top-quality care and a staff that truly cares.

After reviewing some of the negative reviews concerning Dr. Costa, as a three time patient of Dr…read more Costa, I would like to offer my opinion: 1. I had an accident that required immediate emergency surgery reconstructing my left hip and femur approx. 12 years ago. Dr. Costa was immediately contacted by my Primary Physician. Dr Costa, who wasn't on duty over the weekend, came to Riverview Hospital and put me back together again! After 12 years, and an active lifestyle, all is well with my left hip. 2. Dr Costa did a right hip replacement for me 3 years ago....which went and remains perfect. 3. Last week I had a full left knee replacement by Dr. Costa. It was damaged when I was young playing football. My recovery has been quite remarkable. In less than one week I can walk unassisted....no need for a walker or cane. My pain level has not been greater than a 2 or 3 out of 10. My only medication has been Tylenol and Lyrica (for nerve pain. No narcotics for pain needed. 4. A few years ago, my wife wanted to continue playing pickleball....and to do so, required a knee replacement. I suggested Dr. Costa, but she felt she would be best served going to The Hospital for Special Sugery in NYC, who did NOT do quad sparing knee replacement surgery. Her recovery was long and painful. Two months taking Percocet, not sleeping at night, a long rehab and a full 12 months before she felt better. After witnessing my current knee recovery, she now admits she made a big mistake going to The Hospital for Special Surgery. If they don't do quad sparing knee replacement, they are not "Special". If you want the best joint replacement experience, talk to Dr. Costa. The P.A's, at Dr. Costa's office, Bobbi and CJ, are the best I have ever experienced. The Costa, Bobbi and CJ Team will take good care of you.

My experience with Dr. Romello's office was extremely disappointing…read more At my four-week follow-up appointment after completing physical therapy and an initial course of prednisone and anti-inflammatory medication for a back injury, Dr. Romello seemed to be in a tremendous rush. The visit felt rushed from start to finish, and he left the exam room almost immediately. He prescribed Lyrica and instructed me to ignore the directions on the prescription bottle and instead follow his verbal instructions--but he never actually gave me those instructions. I was also told that the next step would be submitting an MRI request to my insurance company for prior authorization. The following day, I received a call from Georgia, who handles insurance authorizations, telling me that my MRI had been denied because I needed to complete six weeks of physical therapy. When I asked what the insurance company specifically required, she said she didn't know and that it was up to the physical therapist. Wanting clarification, I contacted my insurance company directly. They informed me that they had never received an MRI authorization request from the doctor's office. While I was on the phone, they contacted the office, which confirmed that no request had been submitted and that the six-week physical therapy requirement was actually the office's policy--not an insurance denial as I had been told. I immediately left Georgia a voicemail. She returned my call at 7:45 a.m., which I felt was an inappropriate time, and stated that the authorization had been submitted and was pending. When I called her back, she repeatedly interrupted me, insisted I was wrong, and again claimed the authorization was still pending and would likely be denied. By that point, however, my insurance company had already called to inform me that the MRI had been approved. To make matters worse, when the authorization was finally submitted, it listed the wrong imaging facility--even though I had told the office twice which facility I wanted to use. This was yet another example of the office not listening to the patient and failing to communicate accurately. In my opinion, the repeated miscommunication, conflicting information, failure to provide complete medication instructions, and lack of attention to important details created an experience that felt both dangerous and negligent. Patients rely on their healthcare providers to communicate accurately and coordinate their care. Instead, I was forced to verify information myself with my insurance company to determine what was actually happening. Patients dealing with painful injuries deserve clear communication, accurate information, and honesty throughout the treatment process. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

I was very apprehensive at first but after my consultation with Kevin (owner) my apprehensiveness melted away. From the moment I called and spoke to Denise (Kevin's lovely wife) to help confirm that my insurance was accepted & scheduling my sessions I felt right at ease. The care in which Kevin as well as his assistants, Alise & Taylor was remarkable & so extremely helpful to my recovery. They are so easy to chat with and so lovely & caring. There was never more than 2-3 other sessions going on when I was there for my session & they consistently asked "How are you...how is that feeling..." After my first session it just started to feel like family (it's family owned & it truly felt that way). Yesterday was my last session & I honestly miss them already! Most of the exercises I can luckily do at home now (modified version) which is so great, but they had this ahhhmmaaaaazing electro massager that I was obsessed with & so looked forward to it at the end of each session! I will so miss that electro massager too!! Beyond happy with Activity First PT and their incredible staff!!! :-) Nicole
