So. You're shopping. It could be for gifts, it could be for a little treat for your own self. What…read moredo you need? Clothes? A little book of what men don't understand about women? Shoes? Incense oils? Some ambient world music to have on in the background at dinner parties? (My goodness, those thirties are fast approaching...) A handbag? A lantern? Well, Equinox has the lot. And its New Year sale is one to be cherished and savoured. Perfectly located in central Tenby, it's one of those shops that makes Tenby feel like a unique little collection of local businesses as opposed to a tourist trap. Downstairs you'll find homeware, books and therapies galore, some of which are quite New Age and hippy-esque. Upstairs are the clothes - boutique standard, beautiful and individual. I came shopping here with mothers of myself and my other half and they found me a heck of a little party dress which I bought for myself as a New Year gift. Half price, and while the other sizes had been snapped up this little XS number had been left on its own due to being an unusually narrow size. Step in beanpole. It was mine. All mine! Now I can return to Manchester happy in the knowledge that no one else has this piece. Unless I randomly bump into a one-time visitor of Equinox in Tenby that also lives in my fair city. Anyway, it rules. I'd highly recommend it, and while the prices might not always be wallet-friendly, the staff are fabulous and if you catch the New Year sales you shan't be disappointed. Get involved.

Equinox is an amazingly different and perfect shop. Sorry to be cliched, but it's a real 'alladin's…read morecave'. But not a cave full of cheap tat. The stock of Equinox is really wide ranging - and is all excellent quality. The range includes clothes, homeware, interior decorations (I got some super cute cushions recently), Jewellery, Cards and other bits and pieces. There really is something for everyone in here - Prices aren't cheap, but as the items are unique and high quality you won't regret splashing out if you see something that you fancy. A real highlight to any Tenby shopping trip - the isolation of Pembrokeshire seems to make the boutiques top notch!

The first thing I want to make clear is that this is not a review of the staff. They are…read morefantastic. Always friendly and helpful, they are great. I wanted to make that clear, so some manager doesn't place any blame on them. The real reason this shop gets a 1 star is that I am sick and tired of the place. I've lived in the town for 30+ years. Sainsbury's is the only big store in town. I cannot drive, and because the other Food stores in town are small, I do 90% of my shop there. I am SICK of the lack of choice available. They only have the most basic foods available. The whole selection of Japanese, Chinese and Indian foodstuffs (beyond the vast selection of overpriced microwaved meals) and fit on one small shelf section. Only very basic fruit and veg. Basic meat. Basic everything. It feels like a store that's stuck in the 1950s. There's more of a selection of meat paste than of chillies or peppers. No joke, the local Londis (which is TINY) has more verity. And I wouldn't mind so much if the prices were good, but they're not. During a Cost of Living Crisis, you'd think they'd start stocking more Basics products, but they's mostly stocked the shelves with their "taste the difference" stuff that is usually a good 75% more expensive. For a brief moment, I thought that things were about to change. They started stocking a wider verity of products the other week, and it was a joy. Well, I guess that was a mistake, because only 3 days later, it was all gone. Maybe someone in charge would twig to the fact that because it all sold out in less than 2 days, they should order more. But no, because all the shelf labels are gone, and in their place are the same old things that I've gotten sick of. All of this, in a shop that feels so gloomy. The shop is fitted with a speaker system. I know this because of the occasional Ad they play at full blast, and because they do play music during Christmas. But the rest of the time, it is silent. It gives off the feeling that the management see their customers as nothing more than walking wallets. I am Sick and Tired of it. If you are coming to Tenby on holiday, might I suggest skipping Sainsbury's, and shop in Pembroke Dock? It is only 20 mins by car and you have a choice between Tesco Extra, Aldi, Lidl and Asda. If you are in town and need small stuff, there's a Tesco Express, the aforementioned Londis, a well stocked Post Office, and a Co-op. Just what ever you do, don't go to Sainsbury's.

This is the largest supermarket in Tenby and I'm only reviewing it because it is useful to know…read morewhere it is. It isn't the easiest place to find and if you are staying near North beach you might never know it was there. It has all the essentials and if you are self catering it is worth finding. It has a car park though I can't say I've ever used it so I don't know how easy it is to get to during the summer season when Tenby is packed with visitors. We've always walked in and out of Tenby or used the Park and Ride.
