This has been my go to place for a couple of years. Today I had an appointment for a haircut, but had an emergency and had to run my daughter to the doctor's office. I called Jag's and was informed that even if you are a regular customer for years, who has never missed an appointment and tip 20 dollars on every visit you forfeit your money if you don't call within 3 hours of your appointment time. This place does not stand by its customers and will not be slightly accommodating when you have a legitimate emergency. Needless to say I will not be returning to this place even if they do give a good haircut. read more

I've been here twice now since I moved to Trenton and I think this is going to be my new barbershop. It's located directly over the Trenton Makes Bridge, so it's free to get there from Jersey. They have street parking and I believe there are also spaces in the back. The same guy cut my hair both times and did a good job. He listened pretty well, and the cut reflected exactly what I told him. The only downside is they don't take appointments so I was probably waiting for 30 minutes the last time. They accept card, cut costs about $25, which is cheaper than my old barbershop in Haddonfield! Update: the owner Juan takes appointments and he's really good. You have to make the appointment online. He's got a great story also if you like to talk and listen while you're getting your cut! read more

My previous barbershop (Capitol Barbershop in Ewing, NJ) was one of those typical "talk your socks off" places with decent-enough but mostly half-asleep staff. I finally left when Fox & Friends was playing on the tv when I walked in. What a difference a haircut at JAG's makes! This is a seriously great barbershop. Casual, yet all about getting down to business. I was amazed at and very happy with how quiet it was. Not because business was slow. Business was brisk with 8 chairs filled the entire time I was there. It was quiet because the barbers here are pros concentrating on their work. Truly good barbers don't need to chew your ear off, thank you. I booked an appointment with Juan (the owner, I believe) for $2 more than a walk-in wait for one of the other barbers. I didn't see a bad haircut from any of the other barbers walk out of the room while I was there, but I feel like I robbed the place getting a haircut from the man himself. My first visit to this shop was on 8-14-2019 around 1 pm​. Parking was convenient along the curb right outside the shop; there is additional parking around the back. The exterior and interior of the shop were modern and clean. When​ entering and beginning to sign in a guy approached me, and asked if I was there to see anyone specific. I explained that I had been referred by a friend who sees Stuart and that I like his cut, he informed me that Stuart had stepped out but would be back in a bit. I asked if there was anyone available right now? He said sure, ​and he directed me to Chair 8, Brittani. I did find the sign-in​​ list a bit confusing, it asked what chair I was waiting for, but it didn't​ list who was at what chair. Brittani greeted me immediately and asked what I was thinking about doing to my hair. She applied the cape and tissue around my neck, insuring it was comfortable. I introduced myself and described the colic's I have and said I was open to creativity and suggestions but explained what I had been getting since she had never​ worked with my hair. She listened carefully and gave me her undivided attention for my cut. She made sure I was comfortable and asked it was alright to use the razor before doing so. She paid close attention to all the details did a cut that I like. The shop has a lot of consistent barbers that are dedicated to their craft. They work as a team, and the level of professionalism is far above many other shops. The staff here is licensed and not cutting hair because its the only job they can get. There was no ego talk amongst the barbers and no thug barbers with jailhouse tattoos. I'm comfortable in either crowd but want my barber to be focused on my hair first and not every other barber. The amount of time spent on me uninterrupted was not what I had experienced elsewhere. Brittani did a great job; she was personable, friendly, and polite. When she was done, she looked over every part of my hair, ensuring I was ready to take on the world. When she was finished, there was not a hair out of place and a clean, sharp edge around my head. As I was leaving the barber Stuart who I requested introduced himself and explained he was sorry that he had ​missed me and said he looks forward to seeing me on my next visit. It was obvious that the barbers in this shop have pride in providing great service for the customers. It's easy to see why this shop is so busy all the time and maintains a consistent staff. read more

I love jags but stop cutting my tail god dammit! everytime it gets thinner and thinner and Its keeping me from coming back. I would do my ends myself but im half blind. This is why I dont get my hair cut because y'all keep touching my tail and it shouldn't be touched when I asked for the SIDES to be shaved down. Again I love Jags just don't clip, touch, or even look at my tail, its the ONE thing that gives me serotonin on a daily basis. read more

I just recently moved to Yardley in March. Due to the quarantine I haven't gotten my hair cut by a professional and did a few hack jobs on it myself over the past few months. I found JAGs on line and it looked pretty cool. Leather chairs and lots of good fades in the gallery. All I did was show up and show him my picture from last year and a while later he did it. He made my terrible cut look like it used to. Awesome folks, friendly and good atmosphere. Really reasonable too. Definitely will go back. read more

If I could give no stars I would, I went here hoping to have a great experience however that was NOT the case. I gave a photo of what I had previously and was told to close my eyes.... opening them to a short monk style cut. I did not say anything right away choosing to speak with a manager instead of making a scene...apparently that was wrong, after speaking to the "manager" and was offered a free haircut and any other service free, I declined and asked for a refund and was told no. I met to write a review in January. I've been busy. Since, I'm off today... I have time. Visited this shop for a cut. I explained thoroughly what I wanted. After a long wait (yes, I was a walk in) so I did realize that I had to wait. I was in the chair, again explained what I wanted, and asked can you do it he said yes. General Experience: I've been to many barbershops in the area and quite frankly there is no competition. Jags Barbershop is simply the best in the area. This is a real barbershop and not a place where you will be in and out within five minutes. A typical haircut can take up to 45 minutes. So yes it can take time. The great thing about Jags is that they're open everyday including Sundays and Mondays when most other shops close down. So if you're busy during the week you can pop in on Sunday morning when they're not as busy as a Friday or Saturday. Juan is the owner and the best barber in the shop. However, just about anyone there will give you a great cut. The problem I have always had with barbers in the past is that for the first few haircuts you'll get a great cut and over time the barber feels increasingly comfortable that your business is secured and they start slacking. Not at Jags. Jags is the most consistent barbershop I've ever been in. The barbers are generally pretty quiet and focused on their craft. There isn't as much banter as other barbershops thus resulting in a very tranquil experience. Not to say there isn't any discussion at all, however I've been in shops where barbers do more talking than cutting and their work suffers accordingly. Everyone at Jags is really focused on doing a top notch job and it shows. Personal Recommendations: When you walk into the shop and sign in, you must circle a number on the clipboard for which barber you prefer. The owner Juan is barber #1. I highly recommend him if the wait is bearable, however I must say he typically has a long wait time. If this is the case I really like barber #4 as well. Virtually everyone in the shop does a great job but like any barbershop there are new comers who may not be quite as skilled as the others. With those variables not withstanding you are essentially guaranteed a perfect haircut. Pricing: Pricing ranges from around $15 to $30 dollars depending on a number of variables including whether or not you have your beard and or eye brows shaped up. Either way, the value is 110% worth it. Suggestions: I wish there was a way to make an appointment in advance. I believe customers would pay a premium for an appointment. The only complaint I've ever heard is about wait times because yes if you go during peak hours you could literally spend 3 hours there. I'd easily pay another $10 dollars to secure an appointment time where I could be in and out. read more

The wait time was reasonable, the staff was friendly and accommodating, the shop was clean and stylish, and my stylist took care of my hair like a craftsman--careful, observant, professional.
