Great service and BBQ, he catered to my niece's and has done several meals to my sister's house for parties, reunions, etc.

Their quality and flavor is equal or better than any of the highly-rated Texas BBQ places. Best BBQ for the price!

Ironically, this place isn't much better since it's only open Friday and Saturday. Needless to say, I got here at 2 o'clock on a Friday and it turns out if you get here that late they will be pretty much out of everything. So from 11 AM till 2 PM they've already run out of everything except a chopped beef sandwich and some fried wings. They also offered a fish sandwich, but why? As for the business itself, it is located in basically what can be considered a small garage with just 4 chairs to wait in for your order and three picnic tables outside. In other words, this place is just one step above a food truck and no public bathroom. Inside there will be a flatscreen playing an episode of either Bonanza, the rifleman or the Lone Ranger. In the background, you can hear the sound of numerous cattle mooing. My simple order still took about 20 minutes to make its way out despite only one other person in line. The tip screen will be waiting when you run your card while you either wait in the cramped cool room or sit outside waiting for your order. I have to admit the chopped beef sandwich was probably the best I've ever had as it was stuffed well beyond what the plain white bun was ever designed for. This sandwich alone took this from a three star to a four star review. To be honest, what I got was vey good, but the disappointment of little to nothing to choose from hardly made it worth the drive. If you're not the early bird, don't expect much. However, if you call 512-595-2477 you can make an early order. 10 photos included or more insight.

Also you should know that parking area is small so do as I did and ask a neighbor if you can park in front of their house don't block mailboxes or driveway. As you enter inside you will notice that the place is small inside so place your order then find a place to sit. Lots of picnic tables outside. You walk inside are greeted by nice people smiling and ready to take your order. You place your order pay and when food tray is ready they call your name out. On the Friday we went they had FREE BEER. Eat and enjoy the delicious food made by hard working people. Husband and I got a tray with brisket, sausage, pork ribs, turkey and burnt ends along with a small potato salad, bread and all the fixings. I must tell you that EVERY THING was delicious with the brisket being the star of the meal. The family that owns and runs this BBQ restaurant are lovely people and you can feel the love in the food that they make. Go and enjoy

My family enjoys hunting for great Texas BBQ. We have completed the 2017 and 2021 TX Monthly Top 50…read moreBBQ list. We started the 2025 list and we are more than half-way through the list as of August 2026. On our recent weekend trip to Austin, TX, my wife and I stopped at Bubby's BBQ in Smithville based on recommendations from the BBQ enthusiasts community. Though Bubby's isn't on the current TXM Top 50 list, my spidey sense tells me they are a good candidate for the next release. We always order the brisket, ribs, and sausage. But we were really looking forward to the Texas Twinkies. Unfortunately, we arrived a little after 12:30pm and the lunch rush had already sold out of the twinkies, regular sausage, and a few of the sides. Kailee and Jay were so gracious hearing it was our first trip. We ordered a half pound of brisket, jalapeno sausage, habanero honey ribs and decided to have the tater salad. We got all of that and Jay set us up with a sampling of the burnt ends, turkey, pulled pork, and triple mac too! The brisket was out of this world good- great bark, nice smoke ring, well seasoned, very moist. It must of been a perfect day for low and slow BBQ because the brisket had the perfect level of sweet oak smoke. I am not exaggerating! The spare ribs were equally excellent - smokey sweet and moist, tender. The jalapeno cheese sausage was deliciously juicy with a nice snap to the casing. Honestly, we couldn't stop eating - it was all so good. The sleeper surprise was the turkey which has to be the best we've had in a very long time - moist, tender, and simply seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic. Pro-tip, if you are having the pulled pork don't skip the "sweet-heat" bbq sauce. The restaurant is quaint, warm, and inviting. We anticipated a line when we arrived but there were only a few people in front of us. Next time we'll plan to get there earlier because they sell out fast. Indoor seating is limited to two long, family style tables which seats about 16 people per table. Lots of outdoor picnic tables. Jay and Kailee Johnson were fun and patient with us and appreciated sharing stories and answering our questions. Halston aka "Bubby" (Jay and Kailee's son) also checked on us to see if we liked the food. Parking was easy with a few spots in front of the restaurant and plenty of street parking nearby. Hat's off to Bubby's BBQ. We love supporting small businesses and wish more had their sense of hospitality. We think they are in the running for a spot on the Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ Joints in the near future. We can't wait to go back and try the Texas Twinkies.
