I originally left a two star review because I thought maybe the place just had an off day. Service was flat, wine was forgettable, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Then the owner responded and opened his message with 'Dear fuckface.' That is the actual owner talking to a paying customer on a public review site. Not a random troll, not a drunk guy at the bar, the person in charge. Suddenly the mediocre service and weird vibe make perfect sense. The fish rots from the head, and this head is rotted. So yes, I am changing this to a one star because the owner decided to act like a fragile teenager with a wine license. Instead of reading feedback and fixing anything, he threw a little tantrum in the replies and proved my review was not harsh enough. If you like being insulted by a grown man who thinks calling customers names is clever, this is your spot. If you prefer professionalism, good service, and a place where the owner does not publicly embarrass himself, there are plenty of other options in Palm Springs that deserve your money more than this one.

Mark and Ian are the SHIT! They know their wine and they know how to make it! Stop by the tasting room when in Palm Springs and you won't be disappointed!

Had a great experience here one afternoon. The man explaining and pouring the wines was fantastic! He was well educated on them and super friendly. Even had unicorn cookies fresh out of the oven and crackers on the table. I ended up ordering two bottles to take home with me.

My sister (the bachelorette) wanted to do a wine tasting as part of her bachelorette weekend. As we searched for a wine tasting bar that fit our schedule, we came across Jalama Wines, a boutique wine tasting shop, on Yelp. We starting planning a year ago. Ian and Mark Cargasacchi, the owners, were super responsive and accommodating to our needs. We were able to set up a private wine tasting with 5 tastings (4 wines and 1 revisit). It was about an hour to an hour 15 minutes. Their staff member onsite was so sweet and played Spice Girls for us while we had our tasting. Spice Girls was the theme for the weekend. The storefront was located in a strip outdoor mall. It looked like a mini winery inside. The bar wrapped around the left wall and there were stools around the perimeter. She walked us through each wine and we were provided a cheese platter. The wine is AMAZING! It was not too bitter, or too sweet. We actually felt the wine as the tasting went on. At the end, we had about 30 minutes before our reservation so we bought a bottle to share. Ian and Mark, thank YOU so much for everything! I hope to swing by your wine shop again in the future :)

Honesty - wine was good, but not great value for the IMO. I am member of multiple wineries (from CA so near Sonoma, Napa & Livermore). $20 tasting charge + tip if you choose not to purchase two bottles.

GREAT wine tasting, my mom and I came today and we tasted many different wines and it was a generous portion. the tasting even included a charcuterie board!! The gentleman was very patient and informative about each and every wine. if you are in town this is a must see, I will definitely be back. thank you Jalama Wines :)

Vacation in Palm Springs, CA. We had an afternoon of wine tasting here. + Interior was very simple, which made all of us comfortable. + Very affordable wine tasting for $15 (6wines). + They were very knowledgeable with their product and would answer questions happily. Very friendly. + They would let you take your time and would not rush you to finish. - PARKING WAS EXTREMELY HARD. Not this establishment's fault. We'll definitely visit again!

Great place to come in to beat the heat, relax, and enjoy some delicious wines. We are members of the wine club, but we still bought some wine to take home with us.

Our friend John recommended this place for wine tasting at Palm Spring. We enjoyed it and Mark was great explaining about the wine we tasted. We definitely recommend this place.

However the service we received was unlike any of the other wineries we stopped at in the area. When we arrived at 3:30pm we were greeted at the door by a young woman who immediately told us that they would be closing at 5pm so we may not have much time for a tasting. An hour and a half isn't enough time for a tasting? After sitting in the large open tasting room, we engaged in conversation with her about the wines and the winery. When asked how she got into the business and started working at Hilt, she said she just wanted something that she didn't hate, and had applied for the job a couple months ago. When we asked about the white wine they had, she mentioned its tannins. Tannins in white wine? Given that we were only interested in trying the whites and the majority on the tasting menu were reds, we decided to try a glass of the white on offer instead of doing the tasting. The pour was about 2 ounces. It's too bad that the service was so impersonal and uneducated because the winery and the wines seemed so impressive. We would have loved to learn more but decided to cut our losses and leave.

Brian and Kimberly made us feel like royalty with six full tastings and a beautiful charcuterie tray. Everything paired well beautifully - the Chardonnay and Pinot Grigos were excellent. We bought six full bottles to take on our getaway to Cambria. The location in Lompoc is amazing with a huge warehouse, full kitchen, and comfortable tasting room. It is in an industrial park, but it is in a non-crowded area with lots of parking which is a huge plus. Yes, it is an hour out of the way from the 101, but it is a beautiful drive both ways and so worth the stop! Full disclosure - Brian and I attended junior and senior high together. But, honestly, he makes fabulous wine and has a state-of-the-art facility. Brian and Kimberly provide top-notch customer service and hospitality. I would recommend all of my friends stop for a fantastic wine-tasting experience. They have spoiled us for any other wine tasting!

Then, I mean, oh its flavors, they're just the most haunting and brilliant and thrilling and subtle and... ancient on the planet." --Miles, "Sideways" First, I must admit I don't really like Sideways. Miles is a boring drip and he doesn't really know as much as he thinks he does about wine. But I do love Pinot, and Loring makes two of my favorites from the Clos Pepe vineyard and from Garys'. Luckily, on a recent visit to their new location in Buellton, they had both the 2016 versions of these wines in half bottles, full bottle for Clos Pepe. Ive been an acquaintance of Brian's for 20+ years as he first sold his wines to a wine group I was part of back in the late 90's, early 2000's. Now I see him occasionally at a charity event I've gone to previously. I admire how he pursued his dream and became a Santa Barbara rock star. They do more than just Pinot, and this visit is also more than just about wine with lovely locally baked shortbread cookies to pair. You wouldn't think it, but it's a great choice. The new location is next to Industrial Eats restaurant and makes for a great combo visit of wine and food and cookies. I prefer the two pinots above, you might find other pinots, or the blends or the whites more to your liking. All at fabulous price points too. Highly recommended :-)

When they opened their tasting room earlier this year, I was eager to make a trip down. When reviewing a wine tasting room, it's sometimes hard to separate the review of the tasting room experience from a review of the wines. In this case, I'm happy to report that Liquid Farm does an amazing job on both! Yes, it's an odd place for a tasting room, but Lompoc isn't quite the wine tourist destination like Napa or Sonoma. If you're reading this post and thinking of visiting, it's likely that, like me, you're already a fan of the beautifully elegant, terroir-driven chards and pinots. A visit to the tasting room affords a rare opportunity to taste the different wines being made side-by-side. Tasting the "White Hill" chard next to the "Golden Slope" deepened my understanding and appreciation of the two immensely. Visiting the tasting room also gave me instant access to magnums I had never had a chance to purchase before! Brian was a terrific host to my girlfriend and I. He was super knowledgeable about the wines, history, and philosophy of LF. He was also knowledgeable about wines in general, and was able to relate all things Liquid Farm to the larger context of California and Burgundy. We spoke the same language, and I was grateful for the opportunity to learn so much more about the wines I'd loved for so long. Brian gave us a little tour of the production winery, and invited us to join the wine club. We couldn't resist! We joined the wine club, and bought a mixed case and a couple of magnums. As I understand, they're open to the public on Saturdays, and by appointment the rest of the week. Either way, it's prudent to call ahead. Just make room in your cellar first!
