My husband and I went to Loring Wine Company (LWC) on Valentine's Day, our 25th anniversary! We made an appointment to have a wine tasting and it was a full-service experience. Brian and Kimberly made us feel like royalty with six full tastings and a beautiful charcuterie tray. Everything paired well beautifully - the Chardonnay and Pinot Grigos were excellent. We bought six full bottles to take on our getaway to Cambria. The location in Lompoc is amazing with a huge warehouse, full kitchen, and comfortable tasting room. It is in an industrial park, but it is in a non-crowded area with lots of parking which is a huge plus. Yes, it is an hour out of the way from the 101, but it is a beautiful drive both ways and so worth the stop! Full disclosure - Brian and I attended junior and senior high together. But, honestly, he makes fabulous wine and has a state-of-the-art facility. Brian and Kimberly provide top-notch customer service and hospitality. Miles is a boring drip and he doesn't really know as much as he thinks he does about wine. But I do love Pinot, and Loring makes two of my favorites from the Clos Pepe vineyard and from Garys'. Luckily, on a recent visit to their new location in Buellton, they had both the 2016 versions of these wines in half bottles, full bottle for Clos Pepe. Ive been an acquaintance of Brian's for 20+ years as he first sold his wines to a wine group I was part of back in the late 90's, early 2000's. Now I see him occasionally at a charity event I've gone to previously. I admire how he pursued his dream and became a Santa Barbara rock star. They do more than just Pinot, and this visit is also more than just about wine with lovely locally baked shortbread cookies to pair. You wouldn't think it, but it's a great choice. The new location is next to Industrial Eats restaurant and makes for a great combo visit of wine and food and cookies. I prefer the two pinots above, you might find other pinots, or the blends or the whites more to your liking. All at fabulous price points too. Highly recommended :-) read more

My friend and I got to Solvang about 30 minutes early, and Industrial Eats wasn't open yet, so we went across the way to Loring Wine Company for a quick tasting. Steve was so welcoming and pleasant. He knew we were short on time, and he was respectful of that yet somehow making us not feel rushed or that we didn't matter as much. That was so very much appreciated. I definitely want to go back there for a longer tasting, because their wines were lovely, and because Steve was so kind and accommodating, and informative about the wines. They also sell handmade shortbread cookies that pair so well with the wines. This will definitely be on the list of places to swing by the next time I visit the Solvang/Buellton area! read more

Off the beaten path and nestled near an ostrich farm of all places lies one of the most quaint little tasting rooms in the local area. The group I was with got a flight of deep red wines and gourmet cookies. All of the cookies are made there and you could tell the attention of detail they had finding the right cookie flavor to pair with the right glass of wine. The vanilla bean and apricot cookie was a standout for me! Also there's a sweet Groupon with this place that really makes the cookie flight affordable. My only minor complaint is I wish they had more outdoor seating in the patio area, especially on busy summer afternoons. read more

Super cute wine bar off the beaten path. They have a beautiful patio that's shaded. The tasting room is super cute inside. Very open and bright. We got a tasting flight of wines and added then gourmet cookies. The girl behind the counter explained that they make the cookies In-house and were contemplating selling them. I hope they do because they were delicious. The cookies paired so well with the wines too! They really know what they are doing here. My favorite of the pairing was the Chardonnay with the apricot cookie. All of the wines were pretty good though. Also, a winery that offers a Yelp deal? I am so there! Some of our favorite wines were from Loring. We were lulled in by a Yelp check-in deal and by their cookie flight. I love cookies, so the idea of pairing them with wines made me happy and excited! The bf is not a chardonnay fan, but he loved the one we tried. We were also fans of the pinots. A group ahead of us was offered to have their tasting fee waived for a $55 purchase of wine. We were glad to hear this, because we wanted to get a couple bottles - one pinot and one chardonnay. However, when it was our turn, we were told that we had to spend $100 due to the Yelp deal. That actually made the Yelp deal moot, and we ended up not getting anything at all. Loring was our first stop, and our two bottles were only going to add up to $85. We would have had to have purchased a third bottle, and we were hesitant to do so so early on and when we had so many more stops to make. I understand that they don't want to lose money, but they lost money on the two bottles we would have purchased. Sadly enough, we lost out too, because many of the other wines throughout our trip weren't as good and we regretted passing up these two bottles. By this time, it was too late. read more

The cookie pairing is what lured me in but after tasting the wines here, we took advantage of the black friday wine specials! The cookies were a lemon pistachio thin, cherry & vanilla shortbread, cheddar & toasted walnut biscuit and a mexican hot chocolate cookie. These were paired with a chardonnay followed by 3 pinot noirs, each one perfectly complimenting the cookies. After we finished the cookies, we got lucky because Mr. Loring himself was pouring his 2016 wines for a tasting pre-barrel! He was so friendly and taught us so much about his wines. Definitely one of my favorite tasting rooms! What a great selection. I am excited to taste more wines from here. read more

I have tasted at Loring wines many times on my trips to the Solvang area. I tasted there today. Loved how they had comfy furniture where you could sit sip and enjoy there wines. The gentleman that poured for us was great and very knowledgeable. But I have to say I was very disappointed in there wines. There pinot's were always my favorite. But not this time. Very nice winery with several wines to try. The house specializes in Pinot Noir but makes a very nice Chardonnay. Price for tasting is either 10 or 13 which gets you the reserve. We were getting pizzas across the street (so good) and saw this winery across the street. A quick check on Yelp showed us that it had great reviews... and an amazing deal via Yelp. We promptly finished our meal and popped over. The stars are mostly for the conversation. The women working the counter were full of information about the local industry and neighboring wineries. While we enjoyed all the wines, there were none that were extremely memorable. I'd say the wines we tasted are perfect for a crowd-pleaser. There's nothing to dislike and there's nothing to be obsessed about either. Regardless, we would still probably stop by again after pizza when in the area! read more

What's not to love about a wine and cookie pairing? Also, you can sit outside and do your tasting while overlooking the ostrich farm! I loved all of the wines and cookies; however, the manchego walnut cookie was my least favorite, because I'm not really into savory cookies. I also wish they gave 2 chocolate cookies for the last 2 reds instead of making you split 1 cookie with 2 different wines. These are just very minor complaints that didn't stop me from having an awesome experience. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone. read more

5-stars for the wine. I particularly like the single vinyard Pinots (Rosella's, Gary's, Clos Pepe and Durrell are my favorites). I'll say this now, these are more new world Pinots as opposed to old world Pinots, so you may have a different opinion. My two absolute favorites are a blend named Divergence and the Russell Family Vineyard Mouvedre. Yes Mouvedre! I know, it's more commonly a blending wine but Brian makes an awesome Mouvedre! The Grenache and the single vinyard Chardonnays are good too. Price for most wine is in the $40-$50 range (the Divergence is more expensive), but LWC also offers some AWA Pinots and Chardonnays at a lower price point. They are also offering two sparkling wines now. Both are very good. The tasting room is next door to The Hitching Post II, so it's easy to find. I've tasted here several times (we're wine club members) and I have always had wonderful service here. read more

Wine pairing with artisan cookies... What a cool concept! Thank you Ada J for sharing this place on Yelp. I was driving through Solvang so I stopped by this winery on a Saturday afternoon. The man who worked there was friendly and knowledgeable about the wines and cookies. $15 for 5 pours of wines and 5 delicious cookies that paired very well. It was very nicely presented. If you're into Pinots, they have good wines here. Personally, I like the sweeter wines which they did not have. That's why I couldn't give them 5 stars. The tasting room was bright and cheery inside. This place has some of the best-tasting California wines we've tried so far. The gentleman who talked us through the pinot noirs (all 8 of them!) was obviously very knowledgeable but also friendly and easy-going. The wines ranged from a bubbly 2013 Brut Rosé (similar to a champagne), which was very refreshing for a hot summer's day, to a deep, cherry-flavored 2014 Kessler Haak that my husband and I both really liked. We're not wine connoisseurs by any means, but it was nice to find multiple wines we enjoyed in just one tasting session. 10 years ago Sideways focused attention on the world class pinots coming from the Santa Rita Hills AVA. Great grapes are half of the story but you also need a great wine maker. Brian Loring is among the best and his pinots are the best you'll find in Santa Barbara county. He makes AVA blends and single vineyard wines from a variety of AVAs including Santa Rita that are all just wonderful. In addition to his pinots, Brian makes a Mouvedre, a Cab, some Chards, and a Spanish blend of Cabernet and Mouvedre he calls Divergence that is just astounding. If you're planning a visit to the Santa Barbara wine area, this tasting room is a must visit. read more

Amazing staff and great wines. One of the best experiences I've had at a tasting room. Very easy to access, right off HWY 246. A lot of wines to choose from, you will definitely find a wine you like here! Loring buys grapes from some of the best vineyards and you can really taste the quality in the wines. What a lovely wine tasting room. Not only do LWC has excellent pinots, but they have a nice place to enjoy it. There is an indoor and outdoor area. The bubbles and chardonnays were set up outside, which was perfect on a summer day to hang out and enjoy the weather. They also had a food truck that day called the Pairing Knife, which had fantastic pork belly tacos and sliders that went well with the pinot. LWC is located right next to Hutching Post, another great establishment for bbq! read more
