Went in for an appointment one week ago with Jonathan Glickman Psy.D . He seemed nice enough and…read moreafter telling him about myself for 30+ minutes (personal things that I wouldn't feel comfortable telling someone who isn't my doctor) my appointment came to an end and his exact words were "does this time work for you?" To which I responded yes and left after asking the women at the desk if I needed to do anything else. I show up this week at the scheduled time and I'm told by the women at the desk he will be in shortly. I waited over 35 minutes before telling them to call him. I am then told he never put me down for an appointment... the level of incompetence is only rivaled by how uncomfortable I feel that I sat there pouring my heart out, only to now have to begin my search for another therapist. They should know how hard it is for people to seek help and this has been a very discouraging experience for me and a waste of time and money. I wish Jonathan all the best and I hope he works on his scheduling for his future patients.

I was recently diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and was referred to Dr. Sarayia by my therapist to reevaluate my antidepressant meds. At first Dr. Sarayia was responsive to the need to see me as soon as possible. His initial change in my meds worked extremely well. I felt the best that i had in the months following my diagnosis. When he went to make a further adjustment he gave me two options. At that point I trusted his judgement so I was secure in going with his recommendation. I told him that my only concern about a change was that my next oncology appointment was the following Tuesday and it was a particulary scary time for me. He chose to take me off the combination of meds that worked and put me on a higher dose of one of them. Our hope was that I would feel even better. He in turn assured me that if there was any problem that i was to text him and he would get back to me immediately. We had a good plan. The second day on the new regimen I was experiencing increased anxiety, fearful thoughts about dying, etc. So on the third day i texted him as planned that i was heading into a crisis. More than two hours went by as i continued to feel worse with no response from Dr. Sarayia. I called my therapist in a panic. She assured me that Dr. Sarayia was available as she herself had heard from him that day. When I finally got a text from him he simply said this: Looks like you did better on the lower dose. Huh? I was on two meds not one. What did the text mean? No further texts followed. What did he want me to do? Silence from him. My condition continuing to deteriorate and I was becoming more agitated. My therapist had to intervene and texted him to call me. After he received her text he did call and left this message: go back to the protocol you were on before. huh? His prescription for one of the drugs was different than the one he wanted me to return to. Where/how was I supposed to get a prescription? It was a Sunday and he was my psychiatrist. He never followed up after his voicemail. By then it was clear that this was callous medical mistreatment. I texted him to please take me off his schedule as i was no longer his patient. He texted back and i parapharase here: i had a right to seek any medical care from anyone i wanted, he was sorry that i didn't FEEL that his response was soon enough, in retropect he should have asked me to call instead of text, and that he wished me good luck in the future. I called a friend who was a psychiatrist and when she heard the protocol Dr. Sarayia put me on she was surprised and in her opinion it was far too agressive. She corrected the doses and wrote a new prescripton for me to fill. It took me 5 days to feel back to myself. I believe that I was both medically and emotionally mistreated by Dr. Sarayia-- a doctor who ironically splits his bill into medical and psychotherapy fees.

He takes his job very seriously and is focused on helping me feel less depressed and anxious. He is highly educated (graduated from Harvard!) and really knows his stuff. There are many psychiatrists today who are not up to date on today's current research like he is. I feel he is attentive, intuitive and serious about me making positive changes in my life. He knows what he's doing and is able to feed off who I am as an individual and not treat me as just another patient. His care seems individualized and curtailed to my specific issues which means he's really listening and compassionate. He is always on time (unlike other psychs that make you wait 45 mns) and helped get my prescriptions filled even if it meant doing a prior authorization. I definitely recommend him!

Didn't listen to me. Would cut me off mid sentence when time was up, would rush me out and handed business cards for me to give to friends. This guy gives nothing more than weird vibes and bad advice and not a feel of someone who got a higher education. Look elsewhere.

Let me preface my review by saying I have no idea how Mr. Cope is as a one-on-one counselor and I…read moredo not intend my review to dissuade anyone from trying counseling here. This is only a review of my experience. I presented to Mr. Cope for a first-time-ever couples counseling session. We went to Mr. Cope because my significant other sees him. Huge mistake. The only thing I can compare the session to would be having couples counseling with one of my significant other's friends. Actually, I think my s.o's friends would make more of an attempt to be unbiased. Mr. Cope made no effort to get to know me, my perspective, where I was coming from, who i am, etc. He reiterated the frustrations that my s.o. had spoken about privately with him and asserted them not as my s.o's interpretations of what was going on but as fact, and ultimately came off like he was pointing the finger. That was neither constructive nor helpful- we went to therapy because we are already quite good at finger pointing on our own. Furthermore, Mr. Cope, without getting to know my personality, feeling me out, or anything else, made a number of unprofessional "jokes" that made me uncomfortable. I was surprised that someone who works in this profession would not realize the importance of connecting with a person and learning their personality before jumping into jokes that ride the line between acceptable and not. My s.o. and I followed his advice and took a full day to let us absorb what was said in session. We went on to have a lovely rest of the night but the next day, once everything was "absorbed", it was like a grenade was set off between my s.o. and I. We had to then wade through what were words put in our mouths during session versus what was actually the truth between us. We are in worse shape for having tried counseling here. This is not to say that Mr. Cope was completely wrong. Some of his advice was sound and on point. My point is that a lot of it wasn't helpful, wasn't correct about us as individuals or what we are like in our relationship, and much of the session was a lecture. It seemed to me that Mr. Cope was unable to be an unbiased participant in the session because he already knew a lot about my s.o's perspective. I will not be returning.

I found Dr. Helbich as a last ditch effort thanks to ZocDoc on a particularly low/chaotic sunday morning.. First delight he actually DID have an appointment for that VERY same day (his office hours are friday-monday) which simply put is an EXTREMELY rare occurrence to obtain a same day appointment for therapy anywhere let alone Manhattan in which month long waiting lists are more common than not, let alone having WEEKEND & evening hours!! I easily booked through ZocDoc and within the hour he called me. His calming demeanor over the phone and genuine empathy even when acquiring basic information via the phone immediately put me at ease with my anxiety. He also confirmed the appointment time as well as discussed his rate and informed me that although he isn't in network with my insurance that he would be happy to provide me an invoice for me to submit for reimbursement. He also provided detailed instructions oh how to get to his office which is VERY convienietly located in the village. I can honestly say without a shadow of a doubt that Dr. H is THE most empathic, KNOWLEDGABLE, compassionate, dedicated, solutions based, insightful, honest, brilliant, genuinely cares & wants to help, very understanding, seemingly endlessly patient, ALWAYS punctual which I particularly appreciate considering my schedule is usually pretty tight/varies from week to week. He also is a very active/engaged listener and has provided me with invaluable insights and strategies that have proven very helpful with the delicate yet extremely traumatic issues that are on my horizon. I have never looked forward to seeing a therapist before however Dr. Helbich really has been able help me in a multitude of ways that I am eternally grateful and actually do look forward to our sessions as a reprieve even though the next layers of our journey together are extremely daunting on the horizon. This review is long overdue. I was a patient of Dr. Termine's for approximately two years before he…read moreabruptly decided to discontinue accepting UnitedHealthcare/Optum. Throughout the pandemic, he would schedule phone appointments with me every other month, which lasted fewer than 5 minutes. He would then bill my insurance company $675, and after the plan discount and my copay, took home $227. That's $227 for 3 minutes of interacting with the patient. When Dr. Termine told me he was no longer accepting UnitedHealthcare, he said "UnitedHealthcare isn't very psychiatrist friendly." Apparently $227 for 3 minutes isn't enough for him. Additionally, he informed me of this change during one of our appointments and did not schedule a follow up or provide a referral. This was in June 2021. Several months later, I received a letter in the mail from my insurance company stating that Dr. Termine's contract would be ending with UHC in September 2021... This man could have continued providing me care for three additional months while I searched for a new doctor, but did not give me that option so that he would have space for a new patient that he could collect more money from. Also, there was a time that I was prescribed a muscle relaxer for lower back pain and I read online that there was an interaction with the antidepressant Dr. Termine prescribed for me. I called Dr. Termine to ask about the potential consequences of an interaction and what I should look out for in case of a negative interaction, and he said "Let me look that up for you." Two minutes later, he says "Yes, I see that there is an interaction." I thought umm, duh... I learned that from a simple Google search. I was looking for a little more guidance from a physician who should be able to explain the pharmacology to me beyond what I can ascertain from a search engine. Dr. Termine was basically a glorified drug dealer. If you're looking for a doctor who isn't going to spend much time with you, doesn't seem to bring much expertise to the table beyond basic psychiatry, and all you want is easy access to prescriptions, this is your guy. If you want more thorough care, I'd suggest finding someone else. I now see a wonderful physician at ColumbiaDoctors psychiatry.
