James Cress Florist: 7/29/2026: DO NOT USE THIS FLORIST!!! I ordered a $120 flower arrangement online for a friend in Destin, Florida. The arrangement I selected and paid for was the one shown in Photo 1. Unfortunately, my friend received the arrangement shown in Photo 2, which is completely different in both quality and artistic design. I understand that substitutions can sometimes be necessary when ordering flowers, but this was far beyond a reasonable substitution. The arrangement delivered bears very little resemblance to the arrangement I purchased. The flowers, color balance, design, fullness, and overall presentation are substantially different. What is particularly concerning is that I believed I was ordering from a local florist, only to discover that the online company is actually based in New York and contracts with local florists in other areas. This type of arrangement makes it very difficult for customers to know what is actually being delivered. I suspect many customers never see the delivered arrangement themselves and therefore never realize how different it is from what they ordered. I contacted the company and requested a full refund. Instead, they offered to send another arrangement. I declined because I have no confidence that a second arrangement would actually resemble what I originally purchased. In fact, I have previously had a similar experience with another national florist, where a replacement arrangement was only marginally better and still did not resemble what was advertised. I specifically chose and paid $120 for the arrangement pictured in Photo 1 because of its quality, design, and overall appearance. That is not what my friend received. The company has now agreed to issue a refund, but they want to pick up the flowers from my friend. I find that outrageous. The flowers were delivered as a gift, and my friend should not have to deal with the inconvenience of having them taken away because the company failed to deliver what was purchased. I have declined the pickup. At this point, I simply want my $120 refunded and for the company to take responsibility for the significant difference between the product advertised and the product actually delivered. I like to think I'm good with searching on the internet but this time was a miss, but also a hit! I live in upstate NY and was searching for a florist in Buffalo, NY to send flowers to a funeral service. James Cress Florist came up in the search and I did not look at the address before I selected my flowers. I did not realize they are located in Long Island and after paying for my order I wondered how that was going to work with delivering the flowers on time - it's at least a 7 hour car ride! After ordering I received an email confirmation with a phone number and email for questions. I emailed right away with my delivery concern. The next morning I also called the store in Smithtown, NY. I explained my situation and concern and the lovely person who answered the phone (sorry I cannot remember her name) assured me the flowers would be there on time and look very similar to what I had ordered online. The floral team works with a network of florists and has a partner in Amherst. I felt relieved after this call. I also received an email a short time later providing similar comforting information. The funeral was the next day. I arrived to find the beautiful standing spray arrangement located near the casket, having arrived well on time, with the card and message. While it is different from the picture on the website it was still lovely! I am so appreciative of the James Cress team and their network. The flowers were perfect and the family appreciated them. I placed an order through this florist as they advertise they have same day delivery. I placed my order and waited to hear from them that my order had been delivered. Nothing from them until I emailed their contact email address to see if it had indeed been delivered. The email I received back from them late in the day, stated they "could not complete my order, sorry." This company had plenty of time to let me know earlier in the day so I could have made arrangements with another florist, but no, they just said "could not be completed, sorry." This was unkind, not good business, and my surprise to my cousin was "not completed." If you cannot follow through on what your website says, then please don't post that you can do it. I would never recommend this James Cress Florist and if you are looking for good customer service, don't use them. I contacted customer service to address the issue, but the online support Bot repeatedly responded that nothing could be done because the order was supposedly outside the seven-day resolution window. Ironically, I placed the order on a Monday and reached out the following Monday. After several frustrating exchanges with the bot, I requested assistance from a human representative. To their credit, I was eventually connected with one. Unfortunately, the representative was just as unhelpful and showed little interest in resolving the issue. I wasn't asking for much--simply some acknowledgment of the disappointment and a small gesture of goodwill. Instead, my concerns were dismissed. My request was denied, and no replacement, partial credit, store credit, or other accommodation was offered. Horrible. Their customer service is conduct by ai, and I only realized that it was ai after I called multiple times and they told me that's why nothing was working or making sense. It's completely unacceptable to have ai conducting customer service without a human even reviewing it. I was trying to find my new florist on the east coast, and I was excited to try this business again after last year went great. But it botched the entire interaction, gave me incorrect information, wasted my time, accomplished nothing, and I still had to spend an hour with all the calls and emails to deal with the fallout. When I expressed that this was challenging, they didn't offer a partial refund or a coupon or anything. Customer service made the situation worse. It took multiple emails just to receive an apology. When I requested a refund, I was told it would only be issued if the florist picked up the arrangement from the recipient's home. I agreed just to resolve the issue. Despite complying, I was later told the refund could not be processed because they were having issues communicating with their florist. So they pocketed the difference. This company is located in New York. I was charged 4 DIFFERENT TYPES OF TAXES. Subtotal: $89.99 Shipping $17.99, San Diego County Tax $0.22, Carpinteria City Tax $1.12, Santa Barbara County District Tax Sp $0.45 San Diego Co Local Tax Sl $0.90, California State Tax $5.40 Total: $116.07 USD San Diego is nowhere near Santa Barbara.
