I asked the office manager how on earth they did not contact me about the bill prior to arriving...She then proceeded to lie to my face saying she had called me the prior day. I then showed her my call log to prove her lie. After being extorted for $900, none of the treatment worked. Another bonus was having a new dental assistant being trained on my case. Me and my insurance are now thousands of dollars in the hole due to the inability to get the job done properly. Oh...forgot to mention that he ruined my crown by drilling a hole in it. I'd rather get something operated on!…read more Well, i've been coming here for the last 5-6 years, I usually see Dr. Brendmoen, she is great and I will continue to see her. I've never once had a problem with her and she does make you feal at ease. I usually try to see her at the Lorton location, they have a newer office there with newer equipment. Well, I recently started having some bad pain in my jaw, I was able to call and be seen the same day. Apparently I needed a root canal then a crown. I would need to make a future appt. for both. I setup the root canal for a couple of weeks out, well the tylenol stopped working and I was in very bad pain during the nights. I did end up calling and they were able to get me in about 1.5 days later. Dr. Tupman did the root canal, this was my first root canal (and hopefully last), i was told my Dr. Tupman that I could still have pain for the next couple of days, well once i got home and the numbing meds wore off i felt 100% better. I did not need to take anymore pain meds. If you ask me, i think it is the dentist that made the difference, i think it's very easy to screw up drilling out your nerves! This was handled with poor customer service and patient care, lack of communication and professionalism.

After I made personal arrangements to travel in from out-of-town while quite sick myself to get my mother in from her nursing home for some complex dental care, and after taking time off from my 3 national businesses to get her there, and after calmly explaining to the receptionist that their website was down last night when I tried to pre-fill their patient paperwork (checked 4x last night), she proceeded to cop a disdainful attitude with, "Well, THAT's why we send you the links well in advance. YOU'LL just have to complete the paperwork now and come back ANOTHER time when WE can fit you in with an appointment." No apology for their website being down, no acknowledgement of the hassle we'd gone through to get my mom there. COULD. NOT. HAVE. CARED. LESS. Considering the procedure my mom would need to have would probably cover half or most of the receptionist's salary, I'm surprised that they have this person out front. The periodontists may be excellent - but we'll never know, because we'll be taking my mom's business elsewhere. God only knows how much business the person out front is costing them.

Instead of taking a comprehensive approach to my dental health, they seemed to rely on a single metric to justify an invasive treatment, and refused to provide a regular cleaning (which was the main reason for the visit). The doctor was not friendly and showed little willingness to explain their reasoning. When I asked for clarification or to see the areas of concern, I was told that I "wouldn't understand or be able to see it anyway," which felt dismissive and unprofessional. I ended up getting a second opinion at another office, where it was confirmed that I am not a candidate for deep cleaning. Not only that, but they also identified issues that this office completely missed and corrected some of the earlier diagnoses. Overall, I would not recommend this practice if you're looking for thorough, transparent, and patient-centered care. The staff is nice and friendly, but the hygienist and doctors are just bullies.
