I decided to establish care with a new dentist, and I was very disappointed to find out that I had cavities developing in areas that are difficult to reach with regular brushing, including around old fillings. What was most frustrating was that during my visits here, I was always told, "Great job brushing," and I was never informed of any concerns or areas that needed closer attention. It also felt like the office was more focused on scheduling my 6-month follow-up appointments than on thoroughly addressing my dental health and providing clear communication about my care. I had referred family and friends to this office, and unfortunately, they experienced similar issues. Communication and follow-up are very important when it comes to dental care, and I feel this was lacking. The office staff also did not provide a welcoming experience, and there seemed to be constant staff changes during the time I was a patient. I initially overlooked that, but combined with my overall experience, it contributed to my disappointment. Overall, I am very unhappy with my experience and would not recommend this office based on my concerns with communication, consistency, and the level of care I received.

The staff member collected my information but ultimately stated she was unsure if my insurance was accepted and that someone would follow up the next day. By the end of the following day, I had not received any call, text, or update. I reached out again and went through the same process, only to be given the same response. I asked whether I had reached a call center or the office directly and was informed that I was speaking with the office. I explained that this was my second time experiencing the same interaction. I was then told that during my initial call, my information was likely not documented, which was quite concerning. I requested to speak with a manager. Shortly after, the same staff member returned to the line and stated that my insurance was, in fact, accepted--an answer that only came after I requested escalation. I reiterated my request to speak with a manager, at which point Carla identified herself as the manager. Carla attributed the initial issue to a call center, but when I pointed out that I received the same response during my follow-up call, she explained that the staff member was new. Unfortunately, Carla did not demonstrate a sense of accountability or urgency regarding the situation. Her response conveyed that this experience was not a significant concern, which was disappointing and did not reflect a high standard of customer service. Overall, this experience left me with little confidence in the organization's communication and administrative processes.

However, I began experiencing pain from that tooth and attempted to contact the office for assistance. Despite having medical clearance from my OB/GYN, confirming that it is safe for me to undergo routine dental care during pregnancy, the office refused to see me solely because I am pregnant. Additionally, when I requested a copy of my X-ray so I could seek treatment from another dentist, the office stated it would take a few days because they "have stuff to do", delaying my ability to receive timely care. The front office personnel said her name was Kelly although I'm not sure if she gave her real name. I still haven't received a copy of my X-ray to take to another dentist who was willing to see me. We were trying to minimize another X-ray since I just took one but the office is uncooperative. The front office staff were extremely unprofessional and rude during my interactions. They repeatedly hung up the phone on me and refused to provide a clear explanation for the refusal. I had to use another phone number for them to pick up my phone. I believe this behavior was unjustified, discriminatory, and unprofessional, and does not meet the standards expected of licensed dental professionals

It began with noticing that cleanings were becoming rushed and incomplete -- sometimes it felt like no real cleaning was done at all. Over time, that lack of thoroughness became the norm. The final straw came with a serious issue involving a financing plan for my son's treatment. Although I agreed to an 18-month, no-interest plan, the office enrolled me in a 24-month plan with 26% interest. It took me four stressful weeks and numerous calls and emails (many unanswered) to get it fixed. At one point, I was even told the account could only be canceled if I opened a new one, which felt coercive and unprofessional. As a Deaf patient, I rely on email communication, yet messages often went ignored. Two years later, I still haven't received the final statement or an explanation for the mysterious $125 credit that I was supposedly owed. Our new dentist also questioned the amount of work that was recommended here -- and several of my son's fillings had to be redone because they had fallen out, costing us $750 out of pocket. I'm sharing this so others know to review their paperwork carefully, confirm financing terms, and keep all communication in writing.

My first appointment at Impact Dental in Lorton on 11/5 was cancelled without notice because I supposedly didn't respond to a robo reminder text- never received a cancellation. They said I could wait to be seen, but I couldn't. Rescheduled for 11/12, then had to cancel due to a medical procedure. Called the day before, and was told I'd be charged $100.... for a practice that has never treated me. No empathy, no communication, no professionalism. They clearly care more about collecting fees than treating patients with basic respect. Save yourself the headache- go anywhere else.

A few years ago, I had some dental work done at this office, including a root canal and an…read moreextraction. I was also planning to begin treatment for two dental implants and periodontal care. However, after doing more research, I learned that it's best to see a periodontal specialist rather than a general dentist for gum-related issues. I also noticed that they only had one review mentioning implant work, which made me uncomfortable moving forward with them. I shared my concerns with the office after they quickly approved me for a dental credit card with a limit of over $20,000 (I have excellent credit). I originally thought the card would be charged only for the procedures completed--not the entire amount upfront. That, along with my other concerns, made me uneasy. I told the dentist that I was willing to pay for the work that had been completed but wanted a refund for the procedures that hadn't been done. They did issue a refund for the incomplete work; however, they withheld an additional $1,000 that I noticed was missing. I decided not to stress about it at the time and just let it go. For context, my credit score is now 821, I'm completely debt-free, and the dental credit card is now paid off. Word of advice: always do your research before committing to dental procedures.
