The studio established its reputation in the music industry with hits by stars including Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Roger Miller, George Jones, and Tammy Wynette." Boy has the place changed since then!! We parked in the underground, multilevel parking garage. Totally new, this was a major improvement over the small, above-ground parking lot. An elevator took us to the outside level. The handicap ramps, which we had trouble finding, were hidden for aesthetic purposes. When we reached the doors, we were walking were Mayor Ben West met Diane Nash and thousands of demonstrators on 14 April, 1960. Their conversation was the beginning of the end of segregation in Nashville. Once inside, WPA murals decorated the walls of each side of the hall. The artist was supplied as part of Roosevelt's New Deal. We took an elevator to my destination. The brass trim decoration each elevator was Art Deco. More surprises when we reached the fourth floor. The entire area had been totally redone. The walls were bright and cheery. The hallway seemed more open than when I left it. As to the courtrooms, all Chancery Courts were still there. The Probate Court,where I clerked was still there. After my hearing, we went to the Snack Bar on the lowest floor. It too had been redone and now was mostly collection of vending machines, a thankful replacement. We then grabbed our gear and hurried home, past those two cast bronze fountains with their cooling spray. Now to rate the Nashville Metropolitan Courthouse. The front picnic area with its multilevel underground parking was light years of its predecessor. The interior,with its WPA murals and brass Art Deco decorations, was worth the price of admission. All the metal detector operators were- surprise- helpful and friendly. The walls of the fourth floor were bright & cheery and the Chancellor's courtroom was was totally up to date. Massive and beautiful sculpture that sits in a roundabout right beside Owen Bradley park and serves as the entrance to the music row portion of nashville. Overall a very awesome sculpture that makes for a great photo op and sets the tone for a really cool area of nashville to explore.

The sculpture was unveiled in 2003 and features nine nude men and women dancing in a circular composition springing forth from a mound of limestone boulders. The woman at the top is holding a tambourine. The figures in the grouping are diverse. From the artist's statement, "Just as I wanted all different kinds of music included, not just country, I always wanted it to be a reflection of our culture the way it is. ... this is a multicultural city with an amazing number of ethnicities in it." The man behind the grand ole opry ryman auditorium is honored with a statue just outside of the famed building in downtown nashville. Overall a cool gesture and honor. And they're are several of country musics biggest icons honored in bronze as well around the same area. So he is in company with some legends.

In the summer of 2022 me and my buddy Jeremy visited downtown Nashville for and event. While in the downtown and surrounding areas we explored the numerous offerings that Nashville has to offer. Centennial Park had numerous great works inlcluding this piece While this park features and boasts many statues and public art works this piece is the crown jewel. By far the most detailed and well done piece that attracts the photo ops and pictures of tourists. Overall a great piece and awesome public art statue that honors some important American history.

One of them was the women's suffrage monument. The monument was unveiled on August 26th, 2016, on Women's Equality Day. It was commissioned by Tennessee Woman Suffrage Monument Inc. The monument features five key suffragists in Nashville who contributed to the battle of ratifying the 19th amendment: - Anne Dallas Dudley - founded the Nashville Equal Suffrage League - Abby Crawford Milton - last president of the Tennessee Equal Suffrage Association - Frankie Pierce - founder of the City Federation of Colored Women's Clubs in Nashville - Sue Shelton White - feminist leader and one of the national suffrage movement leaders - Carrie Chapman Catt - national suffrage leader who traveled to Nashville to guide the suffragists during the last crucial battle The monument was created by Nashville-based sculptor Alan LeQuire. He also designed the Suffrage Bas Relief sculpture hanging in the State Capitol between the House and Senate chambers. I like how he captured the suffragists marching. They looked like they were in motion. It was a lovely tribute to them and their contributions. Every year on Women's Equality Day, an event commemorating this day is held at the Tennessee Woman Suffrage Monument. It's the perfect place to gather here each year. I appreciated a brief biography of each suffragist. I learned so much about them and this monument. If you happen to be in Centennial Park, check out this monument. I'm glad that I did. (278)
