Mike Robare, the owner had been a customer of ours when we had our business. Our interactions with Mike had always been good and friendly. When we met with Mike at his office we left feeling we wanted to work with him on the total project of tear down to rebuild. Mike was personable, knowledgeable and communicative. We met with Mike and his recommended architects and put non-refundable deposits down with both. We had plenty of time as we were not going to start until 1st quarter 2026. Within a couple of months we found out we had a family issue that was going to require us to move out of town. This meant we had to cancel our work with Mike. When we called his office we left a message with his secretary letting him know we were disappointed. Since then we have not heard back from Mike, even after several follow-up call/texts on our part. The architects were kind enough to refund a portion of our deposit due to the circumstances. As of this review, we have not heard from Mike.

I am not surprised the roofing reps circulate storm-damaged neighborhoods. It's no different than trial attorneys reaching out to accident victims. It's a marketing practice. The former chases storms, whereas the latter chases ambulances. Nothing out of the ordinary there. Then I met Jody, a new rep they recently hired. Since I normally don't even talk to door-to-door reps, I usually politely dismiss them without appearing too grumpy. However, he convinced me to at least consider the possibility of scheduling an appointment because part of the inspection included looking for collateral damage. Ryan, the owner, came out and impressed me with his knowledgeable and professional approach. He showed me how my previous roofer made some shortcuts by not completely removing the underlayment. He also found a damaged chimney, a broken window, and screens, and two garage doors. After researching some of the reviews, and seeing that they're local, I contracted with this company, who in turn subcontracted the chimney rebuild, and garage doors. Ryan asked for no money up front when I signed the contract. It went exactly as Ryan said it would; we would settle up when the work was done. We settled today as the Schilling Overhead Doors installed the new doors (I paid extra for the upgraded doors and new motors, which was totally worth it). He said I made it easy because I provided all of the estimates, including supplementals when my adjuster made it available. He worked with my adjuster to document the additional damage, so that my adjuster would approve the supplemental. They installed the roof in less than one day. They run like a well-oiled machine and choose only the best tradesmen as their subcontractors. I highly recommend this company and will do business with them as the need arises.

Our roof was damaged in the last big storm of early winter 2023. The previous roof was only about five years old and did not last through the high winds we had, which were not bad to begin with. We had used a different company that we have since learned took many shortcuts, and that showed in their pricing. Our contact, Joey Vidal, worked within our budget and with our insurance quote while providing us with high-quality products that we needed without giving us options that we didn't need. Once we agreed on the work, we were quickly added to their schedule, and the team arrived on the scheduled day. They spent a few hours on prep, removing gutters and shutters, then arrived the next day and began work. They stayed late and almost completed the job in one day, but needed to come back the next morning, completing the job in less than two days. The entire time, Joey kept us up to date via phone calls and text messages and provided drone pictures of the roof. Everyone we worked with was courteous and respectful of our time. After the work was complete, Joey and his son returned to scout around the perimeter of the house to look for errant nails and leftover material that may have fallen and not been cleaned up. The final step was a complimentary pressure wash of our driveway. This was much appreciated since we are unable to do that right now due to water restrictions. Once the work was completed to our satisfaction, we were presented with the final bill, and Joey even stopped by to pick up the check so I didn't have to drive to the office or drop a large check in the mail. I appreciated that JJJ answered my call, came to my house to give an estimate, and kept me updated along the way. Once I got the estimate, I was able to get the work started. I will say, I also appreciated that the pricing was reasonable as well. I know lumber has gone up in price and I did account for that, but I wasn't comfortable moving forward with something outside of my price range. The work was done on time and completed quickly! Once they were done, I was sent pictures like I asked! Great workmanship throughout. This was the worst experience I've ever had with a contractor and would advise everyone to avoid…read morehim. He never showed up and always had an excuse. He wanted money even though he was not entitled to it under our agreement. He's a personable guy and I was foolish enough to let him have money not yet earned with the result that he spent his time elsewhere, not here. The work that did get done was done by some guy named Christian, and almost everything Christian did had to be redone. But Josh didn't show up to do it. Finally he told me that Christian wasn't working for him anymore because he screwed too much stuff up. Christian also showed up and told me he hadn't been paid for his time. That's when I learned that they hired him to work on my job and didn't bother to supervise. The final straw for me was when Josh demo'd the wood and tile floors. He brought in a big machine to take up the old material, and damaged the front door and put a lot of holes in the wall. It was then another week before he showed up again to grind the old mortar and glue, but he brought two vacuums that didn't work. Since he didn't have a working vacuum there was about a half inch of dust everywhere and he didn't show up to get the dust up for most of a week and I ended up doing it myself. When the dust was gone it was clear that he couldn't see the floor and so couldn't see that there were mounds of old unground mortar everywhere. When he didn't show up for another week to finish the job, I'd had enough and fired him. We were 10 weeks into a project that should have taken 3 or 4 works at most and that he repeatedly promised they'd be going full blast on the next week. Never did. The only thing he ever did was ask for money. Fyi, I am not overly critical of contractors. To the contrary, my electrician was Gilbert Rico and he was always on time and did it right. Michael Archibald did a great job on wall board, including repair of all the damage done by Simple Creek and was willing to come back right away for any needed touch up. Cinar Interiors who did my floors were great to work with. Over and above the quality of the floors, Cinar introduced me to Tony Gomez to paint and Tony and Tristan Ruiz for door installation and trim work. They did great work and went out of their way to get me into the house. Because of Simple Creek, I only had 6 weeks before I had to get out of my other house. Once Cinar and their contacts got in, they were on my side and got me in on time even though they had to do or redo the Simple Creek work plus new cabinets, appliances, paint, floors, doors, trim, countertops, vanities, accessories. toilets, sinks and a lot more. The right contractors are the key to a successful project. I picked the wrong one. I am just very happy I fired Josh when I did. I wish I had done it sooner. Cinar and the others then saved my bacon. I didn't get to do some of the things that were planned, but the new guys delivered a result I'm happy with.
