Valuable to me in a practitioner are qualities of patience, thoroughness, humility, and collaboration. In my experience visiting St. Francis Health Center, and specifically with my nurse practitioner, Abby Rodriguez, I have felt entirely seen and cared for. The establishment is explicitly feminist and highly regards the voices and opinions of patients, materials in the lobby emphasize the power of women to make their own health choices and it is clear that the St. Francis Health Center exists to support women to do just that. In my checkups with Abby, I never felt like she lacked for time. Abby asked lots of questions pertaining to my physical, mental, and emotional health, in addition to performing a routine physical and ordering blood work. Based on my answers and the results of my blood work, Abby has been able to recommend a range of non-invasive options to support my particular health needs including vitamins, herbs, and supplements, and personally recommending mental health professionals, acupuncturists, various types of alternative and energy therapists. For example, Abby was able to recommend a pre- and post-surgery protocol of vitamins/supplements that accelerated my healing in incredible ways, much to my surgeon's dismay. Throughout my time seeing Abby, I have felt that we were exploring questions and answers together - without the undue pretension of an MD who makes an act of knowing more than they do and discards the infinite potential offered by Eastern/"Alternative" Medicine. I appreciate Abby for embracing and supporting my health interests and helping me to expand my own knowledge and understanding with the deep kindness and compassion you'd want in a personal relationship with someone caring for your whole self. I recommend her and this clinic to anyone.

Having a fair, Irish complexion I'm now paying the cost of too much time in the sun as a kid. I'm grateful to Dr. Bowden and his team for treating the actinic keratosis growths as they pop-up. Always kind and compassionate care.

Worse if your sister died of Melanoma and the provider does not look between your toes, at the bottom of your feet, or other cracks and crevasses. Strike three is that I have had 9 surgeries such as Moh's for large basil cell areas. Some of them were not where sun shines often. She did see the obvious things on my bald head and burned them but her exam was from several feet away. I am used to having a dermatologist with a magnifying device that is up close and personal. I insisted upon a biopsy for an area that the provider scoffed off saying that it was just a bruise or scrape from gardening. Squamous cell carcinoma was the lab result. I would have lived with it, growing, for 6 more months until I returned for the follow up quick visit where I wonder if she would notice then? They scheduled me for a surgical removal of this squamous cell, but there is no way I am going to let someone who could not tell and did not want to biopsy start cutting on me. In case this is not clear, I do not recommend.
