Mini implant denture- does great work, very thorough and super nice people to do business with. I thought my case was a lost cause. But the outcome makes me feel so much better and confident. Dr Tharp recommended procedures that other dentists were shocked by. Created more problems than he solved.

Dishonest and negligent. Stay away! Provides substandard care but charges for high quality care. In 2015 he pulled out my wisdom tooth (upper left) with a big piece of bone, because he didn't have the proper tools. Had a horrific sinus infection. In Sep 2018 he perforated my upper front tooth no. 8 with a post. He was too lazy to drill a passage or a funnel in my tooth, following the root canal, in order to properly insert or place that post. He just forcefully pushed the post in, until it hit my bone. He didn't follow up on it. I had a bone infection in Jan 2019, what a horrific pain!!! Had to go to 3 different Endodontists, on my own, trying to save the tooth. Had to have that tooth pulled by an oral surgeon. The tooth number 7 (right next to no. 8) broke in the middle, in the root area, due to that infection, it was a compromised tooth with a root canal... I am currently without 2 front teeth... (have a bone graft in that area). He refused to adjust my lower crowns 26 & 27, that were interfering with my occlusion and hitting hard against tooth no. 8 and tooth no. 7. His reason: he said that: "Well, I lose money on adjustments...". Wow! That's the reason?! His mini implants (lower left) are bleeding and don't occlude properly (the crowns). They are about to brake, (the lower part). He told me that he doesn't do occlusal adjustment anymore, he does botox now. That's an additional $5,000.00 a year for a temporary treatment with botox.... I have breathing problems due to muscle weakness (an athletic injury to my right rotator cuff muscles), asthma, allergies... Botox will aggravate my problems even further. I am in financial trouble because of all of this. I've lost my health, and I'm very depressed. Can't smile right now, without my 2 front teeth, obviously. Have to wear a mask in public. Thank you, dr. Tharp, you've put me through hell! I look like a homeless person, despite spending thousands of dollars on my teeth. In my opinion, JamesTharp D.D.S. practices some type of "predatory dentistry", designed for maximum profit. His dentistry has certainly gone in the wrong direction. About botox - every time I went to him, he pressured me to get that botox treatment. It felt like an extortion. Does anyone know a conscientious dentist who puts his patients' welfare first before his own interests? Please let me know. read more

Stay away, does not even deserve one star. I cannot stress enough how awful and dishonest this office is. I want to say one good thing, their dental assistant Michelle is a doll. Their office "secretary" Kathy, is extremely dishonest. Literally has a different story of what "she told you" every time you call . Every quote at least 3 times as much due AFTER the procedure was DONE. We were NEVER told we were not in the doctors network until AFTER the procedures were done. I asked for the tooth that was causing me pain to be taken care of, upon arrival I was told a different tooth would be taken care of first! I was foolish enough not to follow my gut at this point and went back for more work. This time I was told I would have a root canal. left without a tooth!! NOT KIDDING STAY AWAY! Dr.Tharp and his team are fantastic. They always make me feel at ease and comfortable being there. Dr. Tharp really takes the time to talk to you and answer any questions you have. He does amazing work and if I could give more stars I would. I recommend him to anyone that needs a knowledge and honest dentist. read more

I am trying to figure out why there are 1 star ratings for this Dentist, Dr Tharp is fantastic and if you need to speak with hm, he will get on the phone himself, which is unheard of now a days. I went to 4 other Dentists for consultations on implants and fixing my teeth, I choose Dr Tharp and his team and so happy i did, he took his time with me and answered every question, I was in the chair for 3 hours and did not feel a thing, his staff was excellent and the office environment was great. He did great work on all my teeth as well as the implants. If your looking for a Dentist to work on your mouth as well as implants, you must at least go talk to this man, you won't be sorry, great Dentist with a personality to match, I HIGHLY recommend Dr Tharp. read more

I started seeing Dr. Tharp about 8 years ago...he seemed very knowledgeable and honest even telling me that he and the staff say a prayer each morning asking the Lord to take care of every patient...pretty sure this was b.s...that he only said it because I was wearing a Cross. Each time I went, there would be a new receptionist or it would be his 'fiancé' Kathleen...but when they were fighting or broken up, it would be someone else. He told me she didn't think he earned enough money...weird & too much info. He also talked me into letting him make me a whitening tray for $300...he was going to work through his lunch to make it...then he changed his mind about working through lunch and every time I called, they didn't know anything about it. So I still don't have the whitening tray and I'm out $300 and after the last time I inquired about it...they never called back and instead sent me a postcard that I was overdue for a cleaning. I haven't been there in 3 1/2 years. Also, Kathleen's son worked there for a little bit...he made a bite guard for me wear at night but it was so thin in spots you could see through it and a portion of it cracked away after my first few times wearing it. I brought it back to show Dr....he said ..."It's fine!!" Also, while he was replacing a crown, he used bleach and it was running down my throat but I had to endure it until he was done....ugh! I feel terrible because I recommended him to a few people...but they don't see him anymore either. read more

Dr. Tharp is a true professional. My husband and I have been going to him for over 20 years and once our children outgrew their pediatric dentist, we switched them to Dr. Tharp as well. He performs a thorough exam, sets a plan in place and keeps you updated on any and all issues or concerns. His staff is always friendly and their work is excellent. Michelle, his assistant, puts you at ease immediately, is engaging and always has something of value to add. The hygienists are terrific, cleanings that are painfree and complete. I have SUPER sensitive teeth and am terrified of cleanings. I have never had a problem there. And, Kathy at the front desk is always smiling and friendly. She is flexible on scheduling appointments and thorough on the billing and paperwork. I can't say enough about how much I like Dr. Tharp and his office team. read more
