The employees weren't the same and friendly anymore. The two young lady's that were managers always made sure I had what I needed and we would catch up like old friends! When I had come in hoping to see them and the crew, the new assistant manager let me know that none of them are there anymore. This place has gone downhill with their uplifting spirits! Quiksilver please bring back the old vibes!!!

This place is great. They sell men's and women's clothing in Quiksilver and DC. What I like about…read moreQuiksilver is that most of their shorts are made from recycled plastic bottles. Also, they have quite a few shorts with an 18 or 19 inseem which is hard to find; I prefer shorter length. Their shorts and trunks are lightweight which is nice for the summer. They have tanks, shirts, shoes, skateboards, hats, water bottles, backpacks, sunglasses, and much more. For a big name brand they are my favorite due to environmental friendliness and their stuff fits well, it last a long time, too. Got some amphibians here a few summers ago and wore them in Belize and Guatemala for 18 days straight...caving, tubing, hiking, swimming and they worked great. Dried fast and were always up to the task whatever it was. Scott and Blake are good guys as well as the rest of the staff.

And then in 2014, everything changed as Arizona State University acquired Thunderbird, and Thunderbird became a unit of the ASU Enterprise. Since that time, ASU sold its Thunderbird campus to Arizona Christian University, and the graduate programs moved to the ASU Downtown Phoenix Campus to its own building while the newly created undergraduate programs moved to the ASU West Valley Campus until 2025 when they also moved to the ASU Downtown Phoenix Campus. Every now and then, I find myself on the ASU Downtown Phoenix Campus with a meeting in the Thunderbird School of Global Management. There is the Grumpy Mule Cafe on the first floor and the Thunderbird Pub on the fifth floor. There is also the global forum on the first floor with a large digital globe suspended from the middle of the rotunda showing a digital representation of Earth. There are flags on the first floor representing the home countries of all Thunderbird students. The building, opened in 2022, spans 110,000 square feet and offers flexible classroom space and regional lounges with art and artifacts gifted by alumni from around the world. Thunderbird now serves as a significant part of the ASU Downtown Phoenix Campus, which opened for classes in 2006. This campus meshes well with the Downtown Phoenix area as they share streets, parks, and nearby restaurants and stores. In fact, ASU is actively involved in monthly stakeholder meetings with the Downtown Phoenix Inc. (DPI). It helps Downtown stakeholders in knowing what's going on at ASU while it helps ASU to know what's going on around the Downtown Phoenix area. For instance, ASU students and staff enjoy participating in First Fridays while DPI is involved in ASU Welcome Week events. Also, during Family Weekend, Thunderbird hosts Regional Night, which is open to any ASU Downtown students and their families. At the Downtown Phoenix Campus, every student can drive their own experience as they engage in the events and resources on-campus while attending classes, getting an on-campus job, landing an internship or full-time job, joining clubs and organizations, attending many free events and activities, and so much more. The Dean of Students Office (in the Post Office) and the many student services offices at ASU Downtown Phoenix are always there for students, and it's easy to find your way towards graduation and your future when taking advantage of these resources. I look forward to seeing what comes next for such an engaging school like Thunderbird and a campus such as the ASU Downtown Phoenix Campus in the coming years!

Here's a shout out to Miciah of Dodge Music Studios for letting my son use his studio to practice…read morewhile we were visiting Phoenix. If you find it's hard to get your child to practice music at home, you'll also know how nearly impossible it is when traveling. In the past I have contacted music schools, rented instruments, and even bought a keyboard and hardcase. Each of these solutions created its own problem from the school that said we could use any open practice room only to be barged in on by a very pissed off nine-year old who insisted we were using "her" piano, to having to returned to a music store for parts missing from the keyboard we rented, to having to pay a hefty additional fee to the airline for the oversized instrument case. By good fortune I found Dodge Music when planning our trip to Phoenix. Miciah made it easy to arrange and pay for practice space but the best part was the studio itself, a nicely furnished and impeccably clean room with a well-tuned baby grand. Sure beat the shoebox sized and airless practice rooms that we had to put up with in the past using console pianos that were on their last leg. Miciah was friendly, obliging but never intrusive and let my son get on with his practice as soon as we stepped in. An added bonus was Miciah's dog Gizmo, a very gentle, short-hair dog who would hang out with us. My son is very allergic to animal dander but both the house and Gizmo were almost antiseptically clean (compare my house anyway). My son didn't have any problems with his allergies and Gizmo was a welcomed lesson companion. Even though my son wasn't taking lessons from Miciah, I can say with confidence that his studio exude a relaxed atmosphere where one can readily focus on lessons. Thanks a lot, Miciah and you too, Gizmo!
