Been coming here for many years. I am coming from Scottsdale so when I head out I usually plan to spend a couple Hours at the shop, shooting the breeze and learning from the guys who work here. They are all very informative and generous with their knowledge. Will the shop manager is a great guy and has helped me with all kinds of things. The kiddo thoroughly enjoyed an archery class she took for fun when we went camping so I figured let's try an intro class with more instruction on form and function. The bows they have for the intro classes are recurve bows and our instructor was Mike. It was easy to follow his instructions and I enjoyed the hour we had in class. They also offer 6 week beginner classes (also taught by Mike) so it's a good option if you'd like to continue and learn more skills. The only negative was that when we needed to reschedule our class to next week, the coach that was supposed to contact me never did so I had to call to get the makeup lesson scheduled for us. read more

We wanted to switch things up for date night. We tried this for the first time! Private class for an hour. It wasn't bad at all. Ally was nice and super friendly! She made the experience fun and enjoyable. No questions was a dumb question. We were able to ask it all. She even took photos of us when we asked. Love that they have classes and ability to rent or buy equipment. Something we are considering in the next 3 months. It's about $150 for a 6 week course 1 hour a week per person. Not too bad. Especially since you can rent the equipment. Highly recommend this place if you are look for a friendly place to practice. Overall a great experience! This was a fun experience. I had never done archery before, so I had no real expectations. My friend purchased a Groupon and invited me here on a Saturday with her family. There were two other groups of 4, making it a total of 12 in our afternoon class. With any activity that can cause injury, this required us to sign a waiver before we began. We were asked if we were left or right handed and given the appropriate bow. The instructor gave us an overview of how to hold the bow, place the arrow (though I did need to get some clarification), and how the shooting would proceed. I liked that there were clear instructions on when to begin shooting our arrows and when to safely retrieve them after everyone was done with their 4 arrows. The instructor came around and adjusted our bow to how we were shooting. My favorite part towards the end was when we blew up a balloon and put it on our board for target practice. I was not the best shooter there, but I was so excited when I hit my balloon on my first try! The only real negative is how hot it was in the space, they had a fan running but I was so sweaty by the time we finished up. I can see how this would be more fun doing a class and learning more skills. read more

Friendly and Knowledgable Staff, Nice Clean Shop With Indoor Range! Friendly staff for sure is the most notable thing in my humble honest opinion. Each time I have come in the staff has been super friendly and helpful with my archery needs. They got me a string my my crazy weird Oneida Stealth bow that had to be special ordered. This shop is also organized and clean as well! A good selection of bows and accessories. I saw the indoor range and it is a good range with some good distance for a nice AC cooled indoor range. They also offer archery classes here for those new to archery or looking to possibly improve form and skill level. So much fun! Did the one hour beginner class at Archery Headquarters and it was a blast! Our instructor (cool girl with glasses) was excellent throughout and she explained everything really well. This place is a lot of fun. It started when I picked up a Groupon for the intro class. I went with a friend and it made for a fun day out. They offer six week lessons for different skill levels or you can practice on their 30 yard indoor range to help refine your skills. They also have a Junior Olympic Archery Development for kids. Archery Headquarters has actually been around since the 90's. Recent movies like Hunger Games and LOTR have really brought archery back into the spotlight. I've been taking one of the classes and have really seen some improvement in my shooting technique. They also have balloons and zombie dummies that you can shoot at for fun. This place has the best customer service. Travis is a fantastic guy, and treats you like family. I've been to other archery shops in town and have been treated poorly because I was not very knowledgeable. These guys are fantastic. I will drive an extra 30 minutes to go to this shop over the shop that's five minutes from my house. We purchased a Groupon for a one hour introductory course for two people. The instructor was great and explained technique really well. It isn't far from the Chandler mall, which has lots of places to shop and plenty of places to eat, so it would be easy to make a full day with this place included in it. We had fun and will definitely return. Great for kids, great for adults, and they have a fun "lounge" area in the front so if you wanted to do a team building event / birthday / etc, there is more then enough space to do so. I paid $27 dollars to listen to a petulant child with a desperate need for affirmation, harangue the training class with insulting 'jokes' and criticisms. Her speech was monotone and lifeless until she had the opportunity to insinuate that a student was stupid or slow. In this beginners class, there were some 16 people packed into the space where 8 may have fit with some comfort. 16 beginners, with very little direction, shooting at the same time. Dangerous. $27 an hour should entitle one to a far superior experience than this place provides. read more

First let me start off by saying I called ahead to make sure they had the Stan thumb release in a size medium. The gentleman on the phone said they had it. I drove 30 minutes across town to support local business. I arrived to the shop and asked the gentleman at the counter about the release I called about. No greeting, no further assistance, just a finger in the air pointing to the shelf indicating that I search there. My item was no where to be found. To make sure I didn't miss it, I politely asked for him to show me where the release was. He looks down into the display and says this is all we have. To my disappointment, they did not have the release they claimed they had in stock. When I asked the employee if they had it, he replied "I hunt, and I don't like the click of death." I'm not sure what he was implying but I'm open to professional advice and not condescending remarks. From other reviews it seems that service is a hit or miss. Unless you know exactly what you want, I suggest shopping elsewhere. read more

Everyone who works here is incredibly pleasant and supportive. Ally was a great instructor for this class. Her knowledge of the sport was great and her guidance was perfect. Every adjustment she made to my stance, grip, etc. was spot on and I immediately noticed a difference in my accuracy and how I felt shooting. Horrible service ,exactly like most of the reviews say occurred . Groupon a bust , answers to our questions went unanswered and ignored right in front of us . We were told that they hadn't received any confirmation of our class reservation , even after we showed the email confirmation and Groupon class reservation emails the young woman there , I guess was in charge , and customer service is not her thing , I never thought I would have to leave such a negative review , but after we were told we needed to make other plans I was pissed . No apology , no refund , no talk of rescheduling our class , even though the whole day was planned around this gathering .i have never put too much into some of the bad reviews on yelp, but the reviews on this one are exact . Updated to add that I liked the intro class so much I signed up for the 6-week beginners course. It was also great! We learned a lot of new techniques (each week focused on learning a new technique/tip like "how to properly hold the bow"). At the end we learned how to score ourselves with the target and we also started to shoot from further and further away from the target, to prepare for the next level. I would 100% recommend this place, it's fun and great to have a new skill/hobby! FYI - the 6 week course ends up being 7 weeks, because at the end they have a makeup class that anyone in class can attend, even if you didn't miss a class before. read more

Bought a Groupon for an intro to archery class, and we had a blast! We scheduled our spots on "18+", which means that almost everyone there was on a date and out to have a good time. Our instructor was awesome - she gave us tips on our technique and didn't waste a lot of time on safety lessons beyond the basics, so we were able to get shooting almost immediately. My favorite part was definitely the balloon challenge... my husband and I pinned several balloons to our targets and had a competition on who could hit the balloons first. Afterwards, we almost walked out with brand new bows, we had such a blast. We definitely want to come back for Cosmic Archery. This was a cool unique experience and introduced us to a new hobby that we never would have tried otherwise. read more

This was my first archery lesson and I super enjoyed it. Though I wish we had unlimited arrows to shoot rather than 4, then waiting for everyone else in the class to finish before retrieving. My boyfriend and I had a reservation and used a Groupon that allowed us to pay $25 for two for an hour. We learned how to properly hold, shoot and retrieve. I feel like I'm ready for a further range now :) the lady that taught the class was super friendly and helpful when we had questions. I would love to return one day :) read more

Wow, I just got back from shooting my bow here and I will never go back! From the moment I walked in the door these guys were rude and condescending. I know a thing or two about customer service and I have been shooting competitive archery for over 5 years, they missed the mark. I said "I would like to use your range" and the guy asked me "what for?" Really? What for? You see this bow case in my hand buddy? Then I wanted to use a allen wrench and they gave me one that was all stripped out, when I told him that it was no use he suggested that I purchase an allen wrench. He had at least 10 in a drawer right in front of me but he told me that they were for store personnel only, not customers. I stayed for the full hour as an hour of range time is the minimum purchase. In the future will go somewhere where my business is not such an inconvenience. read more

Friends and I got a Living Social to take a class here. It was so much fun we are going back! The teacher at first was a little gruff. Perhaps he saw a group of girls and though we were giong to not take it seriously. I don't think he got how competitive we all are. ;) Once we went over the basics and got our equipment, he walked us step by step through the process and gave us individual pointers for what we were each doing wrong. Personally after he 'fixed' a positioning error with me, I got a bullseye! They offer classes, leagues, you name it here. We are planning on going more becuase we had such a great time! read more

I attended Archery Day in early December with the Arizona Game and Fish Department and I really enjoyed it. For my birthday, I wanted to go shoot archery for a bit and my boss found this place in Chandler that offers individual and group classes, which was perfect because my staff needed a few tips before letting loose all Hunger Games style on the targets! Brett, the manager, gave us a crash course in safety and helped us select either a compound or recurve bow. He made some adjustments to the bows to fit each one of us and he watched our form to make sure we on the right path to hitting some bullseyes! It was fun to see who turned out to be pretty decent archers! I still need some practice, but my boss and co-worker were both improving and hit the gold (bullseye) many times. Toward the end of our session, Brett has us play a game of "HORSE" with the word ARROW, and so we tried to match each others shots, calling the shots from across the room, diagonal and from a really far distance. It ended in a shoot out with me and a friend. It was really fun and I'd like to sign up for more archery classes with Brett! Thanks! read more

Archery Headquarters recently had a Groupon for a one-hour introductory lesson. The time is kind of inconvenient (6-7PM for the Groupon folks at least), but it was a cool experience. I have zero archery experience, and the instructor (Barry) gave everyone a clear but concise lesson on how to hold a bow, nock the arrow, and release the arrows. Barry seemed to truly enjoy teaching and practicing archery, and his enthusiasm helped to make for a fun experience. We had a great time and would definitely recommend. Archery HQ has several more courses for people who are interested in improving their skills. I haven't participated in these, but at least from the intro class, I would anticipate the rest of the courses to be worthwhile. read more
