It was my pleasure to be invited to a family member's wedding reception at Jamison Brown House aka JB House. I would never thought this historical building being used for many memorable events. It's located all in the way in the back of the park, opposite of Triton Museum. My GPS app took me around the block 3 times and I finally decided to walk. At this venue, the hostess used the lawn area for picnic-style dining while house being used for food preparation and one restroom. She also rented a nearby building Santa Clara Players for additional restrooms. Only thoughtful event organizer would think ahead of people when they have to go. Just by walking around, Jamison Brown House has so many artistic elements for photography projects. Like posing a bride or graduate on the porch with the railing. Or, bride and groom holding hands walking down the wooden stairs. Oh, better yet, have kids looking through the beveled glass window with curious expression. We celebrated our Son's first birthday party here and had around 150 guests. It was a hassle getting the city permit, Santa Clara business license for the restaurant which catered our food, insurance for a day etc. All this added up a pretty hefty amount in addition to the space rental which was not cheap. The house also has very strict rules with respect to what gets onto the walls and how far our furniture needs to be away from the walls etc. In addition to all this, there was a bad smell emanating from the kitchen. In spite of all these issues and the cost, we had an amazing time. Our guests loved the venue. Our party was on a warm summer evening and it couldn't have been better. We used the outdoor area for seating and not the house and it was truly magical. read more

We had our baby shower here this past week and honestly it was working with Carmen that made our event a success. She was very easy to work with and venue was perfect. FYI: If you live in the city of Santa Clara you get a discount on the facility rental charge. 1) The location is a little tricky (you see the Triton Museum first when you drive up on Warburton), but if you try to drive around the museum you'll see a parking lot and the house is located directly behind the museum and easily visible from the parking lot. There is no shortage of parking. Actual Address of house is 1507 Warburton Ave. 2) The house is spacious with a huge kitchen and a nice back entry (from the parking lot straight into the kitchen for your cater-er); fully functional bathroom inside the house (with a full length mirror) and another side room with a full length mirror so you can get ready in the house. 2a) They even have a huge wooden dining table (~12 feet +) in the house where you can setup a buffet area. 3) The lawn area outside the house can also be used for an event, so there is TONS of space. 4) Lovely landscape - tall redwoods, alot of shade in the afternoon; during our event the sun never directly came into the house - it was awesome. Celebrated a HS Graduation at JB House over the weekend with over 160 guests and we could not have had at a more perfect place. We had so many compliments on the venue and many were already talking about having their next event there. Sana and John were the staff that evening and they were accessible throughout the night and often checked in with us to make sure everything was OK. Carmen, the event manager was also very nice and was very patient throughout the whole process up until the event. I would highly recommend this place for any celebration - big or small. read more

This is a secret gem of Santa Clara that I was sooo fortunate to find. The city owns this home that is behind the museum. It is great for small weddings -up to 45 people- and other small events. It was built in 1866 and was on the grounds of where Great America is now. In 1970 it was moved behind the Triton Museum and is managed by them. The house is unfurnished and is rented by the hour. You have use of the kitchen and the rooms upstairs, it is temp controlled. I took some beautiful photographs all over the grounds and throughout the house. She helped me with everything and I really appreciated her patience with me as I was a wreck having been on bed rest and only able to do things over the phone. I've used the Jamison-Brown House twice for retreats for my leadership class, and I just signed up for a third year. I have about 30 people in the program and need space both inside and outside for our activities. It's perfect for that! the House is classy and unique, so people are interested in it, and the outside is very pleasant, clean and well-maintained, so that also works well. The caterer I like, PSRT, is on their preferred list, sot that makes it really easy. It's a real gem of a location, priced extremely well, and it's not overused, so most people have never been here before, which is an important thing for me. read more

I booked the Jamison-Brown House for my sister's bridal shower and I loved the place. It provided enough space, privacy and the house is beautiful! Booking the place was fairly simple and quick. They allowed me to bring my own food and drinks (including alcoholic beverages). I found the place to be very affordable and they also offer table/chair rentals. Carmen, the facility rental manager, took care of me throughout the entire process. She responds to emails and calls promptly, so I liked that a lot. She was simply a delight to work with. Tours are available so definitely call to book one to check the place out. Overall my experience was perfect, couldn't have asked for better. This was a perfect place for an intimiate wedding. We had 57 people. The bride and groom got ready upstairs in seperate rooms. We brought a beautiful framed full length mirror and velvet chair to take pictures of the bride getting ready. They got married under the arch in front of the house, which we drapped with a gorgeous greenary streamer and all the tables had bouquets from The Botanist in LosAltos. We hired a romantic 1955 white Rolls Royce limo from George at Elegantjourney.com to pull up to the walk way where her Dad opened the door for her to start her walk escorted by her Dad and I up to the house for the ceremony. The DJ 'Dj Qzr Speed of Sound and Lighting' www.DjQzr.com was setup on the porch and could see everything taking place to make the appropriate announcements at the right time. We had tables for self serve coffee/tea and beer/wine setup in the room to the side of the living room with a couple tall standing tables overlooking the porch outside. We setup a couple smaller tables also on the wrap around porch. The Lunch buffet was setup inside the dining room from Sweet and Savory (one of the preferred caterers for the Jamison Brown house). The servers were wonderful, passing hors d'oeuvres and extremely accomodating to all my needs as the mother of the bride (difficult job being mother of the bride :-) Everyone fixed a plate and walked out to the tables on the lawn nestled between some lovely redwood trees. It was sunny and shady. A perfect day for the end of Oct!! We setup the cake in the living room under the bay window, and did the cake cutting inside. Amanda from Triton Museum was very helpful and made everything seem easy for me. Acquiring the permits from the city were easy and inexpensive! I am so glad we stayed local and close to home. We had a gatsby theme and we danced on the brick patio. The music was from this era while we ate and when it was time for dancing we passed out long pearl necklaces for the ladies and TOYO skimmer boater derby hats for the men (white straw with the red and blue ribbon). This helped create a wonderful mood for people to ham it up and dance. I will have to rent this place for my husband and my 50th Anniversary, in 19 years from now. :-) Will post some pictures once I get them back from the photographer. read more

We rented the Jamison-Brown house for a child's birthday party. It is a wonderful historical house that is very clean and well maintained. It is also located next to a great park behind the museum. The facility staff were very friendly and helpful. It is a great space for a small event. I would definitely recommend it and look forward to renting it again in the future. read more

Great event space! Amanda was really helpful to get this booked for us quickly for our reception, kind of at the last minute. The house is historical, with architectural features like a vintage kitchen that's beautiful, large windows, an upstairs that has a wonderful large room with inlaid wood - detail that's just not possible to find in any usual rental in the area. The part that had us hooked was that this is a quiet, private area that looks out on to a serene park behind the museum. Lots of place for people to circulate outside and plentiful parking. Great spots for photos as well. Guests loved the house and we were able to enjoy ourselves pretty care free. The caterers cleaned up for us and that was a great help, too.
