Had Mohs surgery on my shin and was outta there in 4 hours. Doctor called me at 7:30pm to check on me...of course I was fine...the local anesthetic had not worn off. Next day...no bueno! I was in severe pain....like a 7 or 8! For four days!! My husband called doctor, but he never called back. I was able to talk to Nurse Ratchet at the triage and she refuse any pain medication for me...I only wanted some relief for 2 or 3 days....they dug pretty deep into my leg! So I cried for three days, unable to walk, hubby got me a walker. Left another message at triage on third day (Sunday) and nice female doctor called me back relatively quickly..she was very nice, but at this point, I was able to tolerate with Tylenol. Texted picture of my swollen red leg. Told it looked good. Anyway, all that said, I believe the Mohs surgery was done very well; it's the aftercare and compassion/empathy that really turned me off. I'm dealing with stage 4 lung cancer (non smoker) and just don't want to have to deal with indifference.

So, after my dad pointed out a "weird " mole on my shoulder while I was visiting, I went to see Dr. Herdener to get it checked out. Unfortunately, Dr. Herdener suggested it be removed (which I was not thrilled about, but I'm also a fan of better safe than sorry). So did I trade the big, ugly mole for a big, ugly mole-shaped scar? Not even close! Somehow the good doctor managed to magically stitch my shoulder up in such a way that other than a slightly pale mark, it's as if the mole was never there. I really appreciate that while he's a doctor, he's also aware that aesthetics matter. I've been to other dermatologists since, and I can say for a fact (based on a few *lovely* scars) that not all of them are as careful or considerate. Thanks Dr. H!

Anytime you go under anesthesia of any type of it you need to make sure you are with a board certified anesthesiologist and they never leave you alone. They are by your side, watching you during the entire procedure from start to end.. As far as a dermatologist performing such extensive plastic surgery I would be very careful with that. You need a board certified facial plastic surgeon. And if. you're having any type of eye procedures I highly suggest you go to a ocular plastic surgeon. It's not worth the risk when the knife can cause a lot of damage and unfortunately, in some cases cannot be repaired. Please be careful. Do your research. Dig deep only go to a board certified plastic surgeon that specializes in surgery and a board certified ocular plastic surgeon for any type procedures on your eyes.
