I hate writing a poor review.....I really care for Jane as a person , but i would not recommend you going to her for taxes. We went to her because she said she understood how to do the reports for our self directed 401K..... filing of the 5500ez. I left the legal document 401 binder with her for months for her to use as a reference. She filed it 1 out of the 3 years we were with her. Ultimately it's my fault.... but I hired her because we were too swamped to do it ourselves. I am a real estate investor who has always used the "real estate prof" tax deduction when filing taxes.. She said "it wasn't a thing". I questioned her about it every year. Well it IS a deduction that I could have taken. So far we have paid 14,750.00 plus 750.00 in penalty fees for our late 5500 ez forms... and we have easily lost a minimum of another 30K by not taking the deductions as a Real estate Professional. We are hoping to re coup some of our losses by redoing our past 3 years taxes. Sorry Jane..... but I felt I really needed to keep costly mistakes like this happening to others. read more

You said it, Sherri K! Inattentive and incompetent. Went in with my husband 3 years back (now separated) and he just dropped off an index card claiming all his deductions! My husband just handed them to her assistant who went back in his office and started dropping them into a tax return. What?!? This lady clearly flunked her small business owners class or it's been so long, she just clearly forgot. -Didn't ask for a retainer up front, then manages to throw a made up fee of her crappy services -No status updates over a time frame of four months -Horrible listener -Talks over you -Complained about how clients are demanding her to rush their returns (who cares, it's your job?) - Forgetful (due to old age and disorganized) -Has the nerve to flaunt her hourly rate at you (which is completely off putting and meaningless) -Shockingly rude and will shut a door in your face read more

As a small business owner I'm always trying to make the most of my money, not to mention get every write off I can. Jane has personally taken care of me for years now. I have never been unhappy with the service, in fact she has the expertise to do a more thorough and professional job than one of those "big box, assembly line" tax drive thru's. So, my husband and I filed our taxes jointly for the first time this year. That being said, i really wanted to make sure I didn't make any errors and I decided that we should have a professional do our income taxes for us. My husband had used Jane Allen in the past so we chose to utilize her services again. We were on the phone with her assistant and we were told that filing our taxes would run us roughly $50. That's a pretty good deal considering that H&R used to charge me over $100 bucks for my taxes alone. Off we went. Once we arrived, we were taken to a conference room and Jane gathered our forms. With that, she left us and went into her office adjacent from the area we were in. Clack, clack, clackety on the keyboard. She only asked us how to spell a last name correctly. Not once did she ask about extra fees for college, she never asked about our new car, she didn't ask about much of anything. Oh, and our $50 bill turned into $187 because she had to use additional forms for college and daycare costs. However, Chris had used Jane in the past so we received a $50 loyal customer discount. Total=$137 When we left, we were given two plastic coffee mugs. I felt violated and I somehow think my return would have been larger had I done my own taxes or had I gone to someone else. I felt that the service was a bit unprofessional and impersonal. Think I'll take my chances and do it myself next year. read more

Warning! Do not do business with this firm! Jane promised she'd meet an important deadline but back burnered the work. Had to hire another accountant to complete (late of course). To make matters worse, she refused to refund the $$$ charged in advance. Total fraudsters! Beware!!! read more

Jane Allen is inattentive and incompetent. I hired her to do my parent's taxes after making a move to this state. Her staff is unorganized and does not follow up. When meeting with her, she talks in circles and shuffles paper often trying to come up with explanations but never really knowing the correct answer, as she is completely unfamiliar with her clients specific situations. After filing a tax return, my parents began receiving letters from the IRS due to owing an interest penalty thanks to Jane not informing them that they would owe and pay by the deadline. When I forwarded the IRS letter to her, she did not actually know what it was for and insisted that they would need to pay estimated taxes. Which, they very clearly did not. Working with her was frustrating and a headache. read more

This CPA is the absolute worst one we have ever dealt with! She took all our information, seemed to be really on top of the details, had tips on getting more on our tax return, etc. We were impressed, until 2 weeks after tax day, when we hadn't received any phone calls or emails regarding our return. After repeated attempts over another 2 week period, we finally received a brief message from her secretary that Jane Allen was very busy and would give us a call as soon as she became available. One month later, she informs us that there were documents that needed to be signed before she could actually file our taxes! Ok, we go and sign them. Another 3 weeks go by, out of curiosity we call her regarding our return. No response for several more weeks, finally the call, "There is still another document that needs to be signed off on, we have been waiting for you!" We are so frustrated at this time, but not wanting to start the entire process over! We sign the document, she assures us our taxes were finally filed, when we check on it 2 weeks later, there is no record of our return with the IRS! The one thing that was quick, the bill she submitted to us for $600! Unbeleivable!!! That's not integrity! read more

Jane and her staff are excellent! She has filed my taxes for the past several years. I own a small business and I have too much on my plate to find all my deductions. I just send her all the information I think I need and once received, she emails me with other deductions that I forgot about and/or never knew about. When I first opened my business, I used my old accountant in another city because I assumed they were cheaper than anyone I could find here. After using Jane back in 2010, I will never use another company again. read more
