Wellness Architecture Naturopathic Medicine - Samia McCully ND

As a physician, I refer patients to Dr. Samia McCully at Wellness Architecture when the…read moreconventional workup says everything is "normal," but the patient clearly doesn't feel well. That gap is where so many of my referrals to Samia happen--especially women navigating perimenopause and menopause who are struggling with fatigue, brain fog, weight changes, mood shifts, irregular cycles, inflammation, or just not feeling like themselves. What I appreciate about Samia is that she looks at the whole picture. She doesn't assume every symptom is hormonal or jump straight to hormone replacement. She looks at blood sugar, thyroid function, cortisol and stress physiology, gut health, nutrition, inflammation, and other potential contributors to understand what may actually be driving the symptoms. I've sent her patients with persistent fatigue, metabolic concerns, thyroid issues that needed a deeper look, and chronic symptoms that hadn't been adequately explained. She is incredibly thorough and has a level of pattern recognition that comes from more than two decades of doing this work. Most importantly, I trust her with my patients. She is thoughtful, collaborative, and genuinely interested in understanding why someone feels the way they do rather than simply treating a lab value or symptom. And it certainly helps that Wellness Architecture and Soft Reboot Wellness are practically neighbors in downtown Menlo Park. It makes collaborating and coordinating care for our shared patients incredibly easy. -Sara Herman, MD, ABOIM

I would recommend staying far away from this place. Dr Samia's approach to treatment is what I…read morewould consider predatory. I came to her in an extreme state of physical and emotional distress and after spending $500 on a consultation she gave me zero information on a path forward but instead told me I needed to spend $24,000 upfront to get better. When I explained that wasn't something I could do she began negotiating like a used car salesman asking what amount I felt I could pay and her offer was $12,000 but said that it wouldn't fully address my needs. She then kept insisting upon speaking with my husband herself to convince him it was okay to spend that money and when I didn't answer her call the next morning she sent an email containing testimonial videos saying "I would love to help you feel like yourself again - and know that if you choose to, we can do it:) " As if it's simply a choice to afford $24k in one lump sum upfront without any plan or idea of how it will actually help me? She also insisted I didn't need therapy and my husband and I shouldn't go to couples therapy because it doesn't work and she would serve as my therapist - she is not a trained psychologist and treating people with mental health conditions under the premise she can fill that need is crazy. I have been to many naturopathic doctors over the years and I left this experience feeling even more stress.

This is an overdue review. I saw Dr. Raphael during the pandemic. She was my first naturopathic…read moredoctor and the first doctor I had seen completely virtually. She took detailed information and concerns of mine. She was able to put in bloodwork I needed to the lab but I was able to take her recommended lab work to have my doctor put it in so that some of the lab work would be covered by insurance. The lab work is much more extensive than the basic lab work your traditional doctor does for you. Her lab work was able to have her give you recommendations on supplements and diet. The lab work is an eye opener to seeing how unbalanced my body was. Just before having the vaccine, she instructed me on what tinctures to take prior to having the vaccine so that wouldn't have any or mild side effects. The first two vaccines I took the tinctures and I barely had any symptoms. When the booster came out and I completely forgot about taking the tinctures, I had a headache and was tired for two days. I won't forget to take this going forward now. If you're looking for a naturopathic doctor, I highly recommend Dr. Kizzy Raphael where ever you are located. She does a wonderful job working with patients virtually. Her attention to detail and her eagerness to want to resolve your health issues makes her a vital part of your wellbeing.

Dr. Kizzy has helped me obtain a quality of life I didn't think was possible. I had lost faith in…read moretraditional doctors, having been told countless times from more doctors than I can remember that "I'm fine". I'd been through Kaiser, PAMF, Sutter Health; nobody would listen and nobody would help. I felt so hopeless, defeated and truly sick. I was experiencing debilitating fatigue, excruciating pain in my tailbone, extreme nausea, issues with overactive bladder, blood in my stool, a swollen abdomen, weight that I couldn't lose no matter what I tried ...the list goes on. Every day was a struggle and every day I felt so unwell, and there was no explanation. The nausea has been affecting me for over 30 years. The final straw that pushed me to find help outside of what my insurance would cover, was testing positive for colon cancer at 46. I didn't really have the money to seek alternative care, but feeling like I was on the brink of death motivated me to reprioritize my life and figure it out. I found Dr. Kizzy out of sheer desperation. I chose her because of the reviews I read. I could write pages and pages about how wonderful she is, but to summarize, I feel amazing! I don't have colon cancer. I was completely misdiagnosed by Kaiser. They kept running the same tests over and over. They refused to deviate and expand the parameters of their testing even though I wasn't getting better. They told me my ailments were all in my head. Dr. Kizzy was able to determine I had SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth), H.pylori (very common, from food poisoning) and that my adrenal gland function was extremely low. I've been a patient of Dr. Kizzy for a little over a year now and for the first time in my entire life, I'm ok. I will be forever grateful for her help! She actually listened and cared. · Debilitating Fatigue - Dr. Kizzy treated my adrenal gland function, and I have so much energy now! · Excruciating Tailbone Pain - It was from chronic stress, which led to pressure and muscle tension in my pelvic floor muscles. She recommended an amazing therapist (Taryn Weinkam, PhD) who helped me release the trauma I've been holding onto for so many years. My pain is gone! · Overactive Bladder - It was my body's response to being in a constant state of "fight or flight". The therapy helped with this as well, it's no longer an issue. · Extreme Nausea - It was from H.pylori. Nausea is one of the main symptoms. If Kaiser or Sutter had run a simple test, this could have been diagnosed decades ago. My nausea is completely gone. · Swollen Abdomen & Bloody Stool - Both of these were from SIBO and both are no longer present. · Excess Weight - SIBO contributed to this, but so did the feeling of hopelessness. I credit both Dr. Kizzy and therapy. Our bodies react to our mental state. I've dropped 30 lbs and fit back into clothes I never thought I'd be able to wear again. There is really something to that whole "mind, body, spirit" thing. I highly recommend Dr. Kizzy!
