I am unsure how I can possibly put into words how thankful I am for Laura. Instead I will write about her skill and professionalism. In doing so, I hope to convey how unique of a person she is and how truly helpful she can be. I've seen Laura in group settings of about 10 people and in a triad group with me and my spouse. In both, she is astoundingly adept at keeping everyone's focus on her and also in giving each person her full attention. Her ability to touch and relate to each person's story is remarkable and I believe that her true gift is in storytelling - she helps you read your story so that you are able to write an ending that you are proud of. And that's the thing, you feel like you are - FINALLY- in control of your story. She doesn't overwhelm, but she does (in her words) "push you to your edge." She is a gift. The group setting was for A New Way of No-ing for Women and as it was my first time being in a workshop of that nature, I didn't know what to expect. I definitely didn't expect to feel such depths of compassion, knowledge of one's self, and a certainty in owning my feelings. That workshop really delivered it for me. I knew that I had to see her with my husband. My hubby and I, I think like most couples, struggle to express our love in the balance of taking care of daily life (e.g., kids, groceries, pets, work). But there is a strength to being able to recognize that and to acknowledge that change is necessary. One session with Laura was all it took for me and hubby to feel closer to each other. Like my hubby said, "she's (Laura) unorthodox but really effective." We are so grateful to her. I hesitate to specify who should go see her because I think anyone would benefit from working with her. But because of the impact she had on my relationship with my husband, I would strongly urge anyone (man or woman) to seek her help if you feel like the story you have with your partner needs a new chapter. read more

Laura Bishop is kind, understanding, and extremely patient. Like most people, I have many stories about my past and life that I tend to mentally trip on time to time. Laura has helped me look within to find the root cause of these stories, acknowledge them and let them go. If you're a man reading this, I really hope this resonates with you in some way. A lot of men like me avoid therapy, because there is a stigma associated with it. It was time I got over the stigma, because just as I take care of my physical health by exercising, and my nutritional health by eating better foods, my mental health is equally (if not more) important. I recommend you have an open mind about this type of therapy also. It's a holistic therapy. Traditional clinical psychotherapy has its benefits, but it's not the only option when it comes to dealing with the health of our mind. Let me first say, I am a doctor. I have a pretty comprehensive education of how the human body works, so I consider the science when it comes to anything relating to the human body. I had plenty of neurology courses and other forms of human physiology while in school, including biochemistry. I can tell you with absolute certainty that feelings of happiness, anger, love, sadness, excitement, and frustration are biochemical and neurochemical in nature. Negative feelings and the chemicals associated with them can become "locked" within the body. There are more clinical and scientific terms used to describe what happens physiologically, but "locked" is a good laymen word, as it's analogous to what's actually happening at a physiological level. That locked energy can affect the way you feel about yourself, how you function in relationships, and how you react to the world around you, often in less effective ways. And that locked energy, as far as what I have personally experienced with Laura, is what she helps us release. I know -- to some, it may sound like hippy talk or weird metaphysical stuff, but it's absolutely NOT as far as how I understand the human body works. That's why I think what Laura does is so effective. She directly addresses this energy, and helps us release it by letting us share thoughts and feelings. From struggles with relationships, to putting up walls, to childhood trauma, or whatever your personal challenges may be, talking about them and **staying with the energy** associated with those feelings helps you and I move that trapped energy out of our bodies. Believe me, what Laura does works! I'm proof. I can't say I'm surprised it works, because I understand the concept of energy within the body, but since this is my first experience with holistic therapy, there still is a certain sense of surprise with what she has accomplished with me. What she does has been working with me from the very first day I started working with her, and I'm incredibly grateful to have found her. I have experienced a consistent shift in how I feel... I feel calmer. I have more clarity. I am more confident in social situations. I feel more secure with myself and who I am as a person. I feel more empathic, compassionate, communicative, and balanced. I am embracing this process completely, because I finally got tired of living the same life with all of these same trapped feelings I have been living with for years. What has my experience been like? When she and I work together, I cry. Quite honestly, I cry a lot. But that's just me. Perhaps you're not the crying type, but because I've always been more of a "feeling" person, I am not surprised I cry. I've always kind of worn my heart on my sleeve, and I've never been --as a man -- afraid to cry, because I've always understood it as a healthy release of thought based energy trapped within my body. I'm 53 years old, and if I could turn back the clock, I would have seen Laura years ago. At the least, I wish I would have had the courage to explore my "issues" and "blockages" much sooner. But, alas -- it's NEVER too late to improve myself at a deeper level if I truly want to find more peace within my life. And that's where Laura has helped. I've been looking for more peace within life, more love within my heart, more silence within my mind, and more happiness within my relationships for a very long time. I've read self-help books up the yin yang. At one point, I even got "self-help-booked-out." I had spent so much time buying books and reading about how to be a better person, that I got tired of it. Yes, there were things I had improved, but the deep tension I was holding inside, and the frequent frustration (often anger) that seemed to always be inside of me never seemed to go away. Laura is successfully helping me address the locked energy so I can release it -- and it's working. I approach people with less of a guard up. I smile more. I'm finding I'm more confident in the presence of people, especially groups of people. I feel more communicative. It's such a positive experience. I highly recommend her. It's a unique and holistic way of approaching mental health and care, and it's incredibly effective. I encourage you to give it a shot. You have zero to lose, and everything to gain. This note of support is long overdue. Laura has been in my life for a few months now and is an exceptional being. Her sense of awareness of self and others is so strong - very inspiring. For a while now, I knew I was interested in and could benefit from therapy. I just wasn't sure what sorts of therapies were out there and what I needed. I have to say that I completely lucked out. I searched for therapists in my area on yelp and read through a number of them. I was always interested in the holistic way of things, so Laura's page and reviews led me to contact her. My first few sessions I was hesitant and unsure, but sure enough, after seeing Laura weekly for a few months, I knew I had made the right choice. Laura is gentle and works with you in such a way that is warm/inviting. Her intuition and knowledge about energy/energy flow is quite amazing. I'm following up on my review from 8/19/17... I used to visit Laura frequently when I lived in South Bay and loved our sessions together. Each session brought about so many valuable lessons and insights that I still apply in my daily life. About 2 years ago, I moved to Oakland and was unable to have sessions with Laura frequently...crazy Bay Area traffic! I found myself struggling with the same daily pressures/anxieties, but difficult to build the same sort of relationship/trust I'd developed with Laura. I also had switched to a busy corporate job again and was unable to commit to other nearby therapists 9-5 M-F schedules. Laura and I decided to try out phone sessions, which gave me flexibility with my work schedule and integrated the level of support I needed while being busy. I was hesitant to try phone based therapy, but, honestly, Laura is gifted and transports you to a sacred safe space virtually (even if I'm taking the call in a work conference room between meetings!). She is able to sense the smallest energy shifts over the phone...which is so amazing to me! Laura has been so patient and flexible with our virtual sessions, I'm grateful to be able to get the support I need, even being physically distant and busy. Sometimes you come across a healer who walks their talk seamlessly, and Laura is one of them.
