The two times I've stayed I had a lower floor suite, which you book for yourself. The ambiance is very relaxing and Vince's years in hotel hospitality show. The lighting, the air purifiers, the very heavenly beds, the fast wifi, and the attached kitchen in the other part of the suite stocked with every type of nutritious or delicious food imaginable for you to have for a meal or snack (health bars, coffee, tea, canned food, ready to prep meals, pasta, rice, canned veggies, etc) really do the icing on the cake for here. Plus though I have never have time to use it, they have a jacuzzi outside if you want. Lastly, the view of the valley and SLC below from the main kitchen is to die for. Perfect way to start your day by waking up and having coffee with Vincent or Ken and gazing out below.

Not terrible, not $225/night quality. 6) Guest book in the room with rules & places to dine around town is outdated; Iggys? Hoppers? Both out of business for several years now. 7) No where to put your suitcase or belongings, not even a luggage rack to keep belongings off the floor. They did have a coat rack in the restroom, which was weird and not useful. 8) The concept of themed rooms is cute, candidly, this place is not somewhere we would visit again.

They had the audacity to offer a credit. As if I would EVER come back for another night of HELL? Also, why couldn't we find a water station? I was literally walking around at 2AM looking for a place to fill my water bottle. We just flew in from out of state, Park City is high altitude and the place is a literal inferno. Hello. Two bottles of water in the room isn't going to cut it. HOT & STUFFY They know this is a problem. There is a split A/C unit literally over the bed and a fan mounted next to that! Same with the closet door which hits the bed. Lame design. That spiral staircase is an accident waiting to happen. Lame design. Tiny bedroom. THE CROWD- not a vibe. I like weird, but this was more like depressing nursing home living room vibe. STUPID SIGNS saying: "we do things different". Yeah, I'll say. I could have stayed at The Montage. CLAUSTROPHOBIA I felt like I was in The Shining or A LAME BED & BREAKFAST. We left before breakfast, but I imagine the whole place would smell like breakfast including you. DESIGN: I knew what I was getting into with the Shabby Chic looking photos online. They showed a bit of restraint, borderline frumpy that fits the bed and breakfast vibes. MANAGER: Thinks he is running the most exclusive, best hotel on earth. Offered us a credit for the two nights we wouldn't be staying after a night of HELL. He just looked at us with an aphasia and utter helplessness. Nothing he could do. Shampoos were toxic. The good: One star for being clean & I liked the implements in the bathroom. They had products for looking great after treatments (hair care and skincare) as well as hairdryer and straightener. Our room had a cute little deck overlooking the heated pool and hot tub, but it was too cold (for me personally) to use any of those. I enjoyed the couch in our room while doing some work; For a change of pace, I also sat in the lobby by the grand fire place.

It felt like a perfect resting place away from home. Beyond the rooms, the entire staff was welcoming and accommodating, and every food and drink selection I tried during my stay was delicious. Special shout-out to the crab Caesar salad (featured in my photos) which was a standout. The hotel also has a really cool speakeasy-style bar, which we enjoyed one evening and added such a fun, elevated vibe to the experience. One thing I personally loved was learning about the history of the building. I did some research on my own during my stay, and knowing that the hotel is rooted in such a historic space made the experience feel even more special. Walking through the lobby honestly felt like stepping back in time for a moment, while still enjoying all the modern comforts. It added a really unique layer to the stay and made the location feel meaningful, not just beautiful. My only small complaint is that a large portion of our group's rooms were not ready at the communicated check-in time. That said, our stay did consist of an entire company arriving at once, and I'm also aware an NBA team had been staying there right before we arrived. Given the volume of guests coming and going at the same time, I can understand how that created some challenges. One feature I absolutely loved and have never seen before is the Photo Booth. It's such a unique and personal touch. The fact that it's free for hotel guests and provides branded photos to take home makes it even better. The house itself or Hus as they call it from the original Scandinavian design of it, was super warm and inviting. It was incredibly clean throughout and our room was great sized and very comfortable. The bathroom was big and it had a great shower as well. I was curious about how they could possibly supply hot water to everyone as I think they have 4 or 5 guest suites and Doug showed me how they have two hot water tanks for the just the three rooms upstairs and more for the rooms downstairs. They really seemed to think everything through here. Lots of open space in the house and at no time did we feel like guests, we felt like we were staying with friends and that was very unique to me having never done this before. Let's see, they had snacks and beverages out at some points during the day or evening and I apologize, I cannot remember which. Breakfast was OUTSTANDING! We had everything, all of the foods were there. Eggs, sausage and apple rings, pastries, fruits, juices. Everything was fantastic! I do wish we had taken more time there as it was so nice. The rooms are all beautifully decorated, with the bathrooms even coordinating with the theme. Many of the rooms have quilts made by Karen and Doug's oldest daughter. The beds and pillows were comfy and we felt right at home during our stay. Engen Hus is immaculate. I enjoyed all the natural light and attention to detail. The owner's, Karen and Doug, are kind and helpful. Breakfast was a wonderful meal, with so much food. We especially liked the fresh fruit and homemade coffee cake. We will definitely return for another stay!

With the coolers, the staff is kind enough to replace the ice when needed. Texting is easy to communicate. The rooftop bar doesn't open until four. But I was able to walk up to it. At one in the afternoon in the summer it is so hot. I can see why it's not open till after four when things cool off. Amazing views. Sadly, I think someone will be blocked when the buildings across the street get finished. Really nice stuff. Lots of shopping. Like I said a climbers dream. Four star for the rest of us.

I got two bonus weight-training workouts in here and it's a great, no-frills gym area. Just weights, bars, and racks. Loved it for a "hotel gym" (it's technically it's own gym and space, just happens to be in the hotel) -An outdoor shop (Evo) and a skatepark attached (the only time I wondered if I might be too old to be here) -A cafe with nice breakfast options and more good coffee -Coworking spaces with good WiFi throughout the space -Water fountain and water bottle station by the room Location was a quick Uber to most things, but I certainly didn't feel like the surrounding area was walkable. It felt more like large busy roads made for traffic. I felt like I got to know the baristas and bartenders, emanating good vibes and welcoming energy. I actually *wanted* to be out and about, milling throughout this cool space. Now to keep it real, part of the reason I wanted to be out was of course all the good things I've mentioned, but also because I didn't love the room. It looked cool in pictures, but was cold, soulless, had wires hanging about from the TV and lamps like a college dorm. The bed was decent but I never slept great, and it felt sterile in there.
