Our family went on a 1+ week long vacation, and we didn't have to worry about our 8-year old small dog, because he was happily having his own vacation with Jane. I'm so pleased to be keeping Jane's five star record up! We needed someone to look after our English Bulldog, Molly. She is only six months old and we were away for the weekend. Originally she was going to feed and walk her a couple of times a day but she saw that our pup was very well behaved and offered to take her in for the weekend. We were worried the whole weekend, not because she was away for a couple of days but that Molly would turn into a ball of puppy-excitement and trash her place. When Jane dropped her off she had Molly write us a letter saying all the fun things we had done and even had some pictures taken! It turns out she was a little angel and had quite the vacation herself. Molly isn't going to stay anywhere else now (we hope!) and she really enjoyed her time with Jane. I have been using Jane's Pet Sitting for a number of years now. I am very happy to write a stellar review of her services as I consider her to be a critical component of my support "team". My husband and I frequently travel for work and occasionally for pleasure. We have 2 cats that do not fair well under a boarding structure. Jane is super responsive to our requests, is a terrific communicator throughout the process and has been 100% reliable. Most importantly- our cats love her. They are very well adjusted and happy when we return. Jane insists on keeping her footprint small- meaning she's thoughtful in keeping the areas she works in clean and removes all related trash and mess. We have had 1 or 2 times where our travel overlapped with her vacation- and again thanks to her professionalism, she had a bonded backup resource that gave solid uninterrupted service in her absence. She managed that process and assumed all the responsibility with the other supplier. Travel being what it is, she has been flexible with us when our travel has unexpectedly changed and we have had to extend on the fly. Pricing is reasonable given the work she does. We called up Jane at the last minute (of course...) before the holidays. There was no room with the cat boarder we have used in the past, so Jane was our last hope. Although she wasn't planning on sitting any cats in SOMA, she agreed to visit our two cats every day for the 2 weeks we were away. She came over for an initial meeting and to review our kitties' needs. As noted in other reviews, Jane will also take care of other household tasks as required (watering plants, taking in mail, etc.). She even picked up the particular type of cat food our kitties like when we ran out of time to do so ourselves before leaving for the airport. Jane left a lovely card for us upon our return, noting how the kitties had behaved while we were away. I had a great experience boarding my 7 year old toy poodle with Jane. She is very accommodating to our last minutes schedule change and writes to us twice a day to update how my dog is doing, which is very comforting to know she's behaving and enjoying her time. Jane was recommended to me by a friend who is very particular about her pets and I have never been disappointed! I am in and out of town regularly and Jane has never had a problem accommodating my schedule. She and her husband are reliable and take great care with my cat. We travel a lot for work and pleasure. We often rely on friends and neighbors to look in on our two 17 year-old cats; but, we felt we needed some more professional care while we are away on longer trips. I have taken my dog Lacie to Jane's Pet Sitting for eight years. I go on vacation for 2-3 weeks at a time, so I want peace of mind that my dog is taken care of as well as I would myself. Jane lets her roam freely in her house, takes her to her favorite place, Golden Gate Park, and other great walking areas, takes the time to let my dog sniff the gopher holes and watch the squirrels, and gives her plenty of companionship. Jane reads and follows all my instructions for pill taking, feeding, potty breaks, and keeps my dog away from other dogs as Lacie doesn't get along with them. As Lacie gets older, (she's 17) Jane has been mindful of taking care of an older dog, while still providing her the exercise she enjoys. I don't worry about her as I know she is having a good vacation, too. Jane sends me an email most days letting me know what they did and how Lacie is doing. When my wife and I got married, Jane took care of our two cats during the honeymoon. On the first day of it, we needed to return to the apartment before getting on the road. Jane had already been by, which we knew as soon as we walked into the apartment. The food and water bowls were full, but more important than that, our cats, who are always eager to see us when we come home, didn't bother looking up when we walked through the door. Our Boston Terrier LOVES Jane's Pet Sitting! If I was a dog, I'd want Jane to watch me all the time. She is the ultimate animal lover. Our dog has been staying with her for a couple of years now and we can tell by how he races out of the car & up her stairs that he is always well taken care of. We get a "letter home" after each stay which describes the different walks they went on, what types of dogs he played with, and any other activities, etc. One time our dog did get a little something in his stomach, Jane kept us updated on his progress, offered to take him to the vet, cooked plain rice and ground chicken for him and even let him sleep in bed with her. I like Jane a lot and so does my dog Mabel! I've been taking my lab to Jane for nearly a year now...mainly when I travel for work. Jane is reliable, available and communicative throughout. Prior to Jane, I was taking Mabel to a large boarding facility. There, Mabel was bitten by another dog near her eye. I really don't feel like I have to worry about that with Jane since the animals are always with "adult supervision" and as this is an in-home environment...not some oversized kennel with teenage supervision. Also, when I'm travelling Jane usually drops me an email or two to let me know how Mabel is doing and what other dogs she is hanging with. I like that too. I'd recommend Jane. read more

She usually comes twice a day, and plays with Honey-Bee, feeds her, changes or scoops kitty litter, etc. I can't overstate how great Jane is. Honey Bee came from a shelter and has radar for anyone who is insincere or not caring. Honey Bee loves Jane. She runs to Jane and rolls over on her back, whereas with other people she dives under the bed. She will send an email to give me peace of mind, and that really helps when feeling a little guilty about having to be away. This woman is not very reliable! We spoke over the weekend before my upcoming trip and Jane confirmed that she was definitely available to care for my cat and that my neighborhood was in her area of coverage. Jane came over to meet our kittie and go over the ins and outs of what she needed. We confirmed the dates and payment price, which she said was $25 per day, and I wrote her a check and gave her the keys. Then, one day before our trip mind you, she leaves a long message saying that she would no longer be able to watch our cat. She said she herself was planning a vacation, and had too big of a load to take any more pets on. Also, she said that she should've really charged us 5 more dollars a day, and that our home was just too far for her! She did offer to hand our case over to another sitter, but it's the night before we leave! How would this work for anyone? My first thought was, "what about the check I wrote her and my keys?!". Of course I called her, and she didn't get back to me until the morning when I told her drive my check and keys to me right away. Thankfully she did. I also let her know how unproffessional she is! She knows it, because she told me herself that she blew it! Anyways, she left and then called back again to make some more excuses and to apologize again, and then re-offered to watch my cat for the cheaper price! As if money is the issue here! She even called again and left a message saying that it's not her fault because she offered to help find someone else and I didn't accept her help. Would anyone after that kind of inconvinience? I doubt it. Thank god we were able to beg our friend into taking on the responsibility, which is what we should've done in the first place! I wouldn't recommend Jane's pet sitting to anyone. Jane has been pet sitting for our cats for a couple of years now. We travel a fair amount, sometimes on longer trips and occasionally completely "off the grid." It is really important for us to have reliable, high quality care as the cats are slightly "special needs" -- one cat has a urinary tract disorder, and needs to be fed on a regular schedule with just the right amount of his special diet. He's a gobbler, but the other cat is finicky and eats a lot more slowly, so they have to eat in separate rooms. Jane is simply wonderful!! From the first visit forward, I have always known I can 100% trust her. It is such a comfort to get her regular emails telling me about how the cats are doing (with pictures too if we are away for awhile). She spends a bit of time sitting and playing with the cats during each visit. She also keeps the litter box clean, and waters our house and deck plants.
