When I inquired what I should do, she told me she would lose money coming out to my neighborhood and I should give the certificate to someone else. I would have tipped her well for coming out of her way (and maybe I should have said exactly that in my email to her), but I'm not throwing away any more money. Allowing someone into your home when you're away -- someone to care for your pets -- requires trust. I trusted that the certificate I bought was worth something, but it is not.
