Another year, another cleaning and no cavities! Did you know that how you swallow can affect your teeth?! I didn't! But it can! I have two gaps at the bottom that are getting bigger. Maybe because of my last three surgeries in two years has affected my breathing, more mouth breathing vs nasal breathing. Dr. Goodman showed me how to swallow while smiling. I said this will be fun eating at restaurants! She laughed and said: no it's an exercise!! Haha!! We all laughed! Check ups are important. In November I went for a cleaning with Wendy which was fine. Then I learned that my dentist Dr. Ezer had left and another young dentist Dr. Penalo came to examine my teeth. She told me that I needed a crown. I asked Neda, the receptionist to send a request to my insurance company for a predetermination. After waiting almost three weeks I called the insurance company and they said there was no request submitted. I called Neda and asked her to do it which she finally did but she offered no apology for her mistake. I am very disappointed with the treatment I received this time at Dr. Goodman's office. I'll start with the bottom line. This is a great place! I have been in Toronto for two years now and hadn't found a dentist that I liked until now. Starting with the receptionist, she was all smiles and polite. Explained all the charges and appointments to me. Even though I booked for s dental cleaning and check up, I changed my mind and told that I only had time and need for a cleaning today and they were totally ok with this (after the great experience today, I booked another appointment for a general check up and consultation). The hygienist assigned to me was Wendy. What a competent and pleasant person. I have never had such a thorough cleaning and no pain ever in my life- and I am 60! She answered all my questions and explained everything she was doing to me. I'm so happy I read Meena's review and decided to come here. I can honestly say that today's visit was the first time I actually ENJOYED going to the dentist! Dr. Goodman's staff members are friendly and efficient. The receptionist got me a cancelation appointment only a day after I called! Dr. Goodman herself is fabulous and her daughters are terrific (they are also dentists at the clinic). They were all very professional and caring. I went here for tooth whitening only so can only speak to my experience (2 visits) with that. Good availability for appointment booking, friendly and professional staff, comfortable waiting room, clean. I would most likely go back for all of my dental needs except that there is no parking... well, there is but it's a pay lot and it's sometimes full and it isn't cheap. If I used transit I'd go back for sure as the office is located right at the subway stop and it seems like a good Dentistry practise. But alas, I don't. read more

I have had the most wonderful time at this family practice. It's Clean, Bright, and everyone looks so happy. Dr. Goodman (Mom) did my first check up. For me that personal touch was a big deal. We made a plan for the future of my teeth, mouth health, and Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy. I don't even know what that is but I'm excited. Appointment 2 was with Dr. Elysa Kliman, (1st daughter) to start, needles, drills, all the things that remind you of a scary film; That's the part I hate. Dr. Kliman put me at ease instantly, her energy was perfect for me as a patient. We did one filling, it was quick, cured the sensitivity. Perfect job! Appointment 3 was also with Dr. Elysa Kliman, longer appointment, 2 cavities, she had the same energy, same confidence, same results, I am blown away, with the team work, and care I received from her. She was just so nice, careful, and concerned. I now have appointments with the Myofuctional Therapist, (2nd daughter) Geneva Kliman, shes bright, professional, and is helping me with the placement of my Tongue when I speak. It's muscle memory training and I really think it's working. It can help correct snoring, acid reflux, speech, and much more. The quality of the staff and Dr's @ this office, was second to none. Before my partner introduced me to Dr. Goodman, I had never had dental work carried out without anaesthetic. A simple cleaning required nitrous oxide or I was squirming in the seat. Even with it, my teeth would ache after I had work done, sometimes for days. Dentist appointments were synonymous with pain. Since I've become a client, Dr. Goodman, Dr. Kliman, and various technicians have cleaned my teeth, installed crowns, filled cavities and done cosmetic work. To the best of my knowledge, I have had no desensitization before any of my work done at Dr. Goodman's. They are that good, not to mention friendly, cheerful and caring. They also allowed me to pay for work not covered by my insurance in instalments, not before they fixed my teeth but after. Dental care doesn't gets better than this. Strongly recommended. read more

Not the best dentist I've been to. I had a general cleaning but the hygienist seemed like he was on a time clock. Fifteen minutes to clean, ten minutes to polish and no fluoride treatment. It wasn't very thorough and when I got home my teeth still felt like there was plaque after the cleaning; I've never felt that before at any other dentist. Dr. Goodman came in to see me afterwards and noticed that my back molar seemed to be creating a crevice where food could get caught. She asked me if I had insurance and when I replied in the affirmative she advised me to make another appointment to see her about my molar. I paid for my visit and made another appointment. When I returned for my next appointment, I sat in the chair and Dr. Goodman arrived, sat down and ground down my molar. The total time for the procedure was about a minute or two. The total cost? $280!!! Thank god I had insurance! And you know what the kicker is? I still get food caught in the back molar! After this treatment of what felt like a total money grab, I decided to never step foot in this office again and I haven't. Yes Dr. Goodman is very nice, but the total experience was extremely sub-par and the exorbitant price for the minuscule procedure makes me feel like this is a shady business. read more

Tried calling this practice in an emergency. Not only could they not fit me in, but they didn't call back when they said they would and the receptionist was rude about it. She was also extremely uninformed for someone working in a dental office - not even aware that mercury is a toxic heavy metal and saying it was good for your health. Edited to add (following owner comment): The receptionist promised to phone back, but did not. She did not recommend any alternatives - merely suggested that I 'try looking on the internet' and was actively rude about the whole thing. I was willing to come in despite the practice's use of known poisons, but was clearly shown that this is a place which does not treat people with respect. (A side note on mercury. Rather than being good for your health, as I was told here, it is one of the most toxic of all heavy metals.) read more

I just moved to Toronto from the States and found Dr. Goodman's office here on yelp. This may be the best dental experience I've ever had! It is cheaper than some of the other highly rated dentists on yelp. As a new patient at another office, you can pay up to $350 for a consultation and cleaning. It was less than half that at Dr. Goodman's office. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. I had sensitivity on a lower left molar, and was afraid it was a cavity. They did a thorough investigation and believe I wore down the enamel on one spot so it is sensitive when pressure is applied. They put some sealant on that area and told me to let them know if it was still sensitive. I have never had any of my previous dentists ask so many questions and care so much about my comfort! What a breath of fresh air! They go above and beyond here. read more

Dr. Goodman is the real deal. I saw her a few months back for an initial consult and let me tell you, I was very impressed. She went above and beyond. It is obvious she is passionate about her work and taking care of her patients. She is also a Sleep Doctor and I was able to do an overnight sleep apnea test which she assessed. Have been coming here for years and have had a very positive experience. I'm not sure how many actually check Yelp to find a dentist, but if you're reading this, you should definitely switch dentists to Dr. Goodman and Dr. Kliman. They are the best. I was over there on July 2013 while I was doing a job and it covers my dental insurance. I went there only fir a regular check up as I had dental insurance from my employer on that time. After a checking they told me to do some basic filling and I also told them I only do that part which will cover by insurance and I am not willing to pay from my pocket. I quite my previous job on last November as it was a contract and on that last 8 months period nobody infirm me that my bill was pending. Now on April I have got a letter from them saying that I have $195 to pay as it was not paid by the insurance. Isn't it weird? read more

The office staff and office are organized and friendly, the equipment is top notch, but the highlight was meeting Dr. Goodman. She is obviously passionate about what she does, not to mention skillful and knowledgeable. I had two crowns done (one of which was a complicated case: broken tooth). I went there about 2 months ago to check my teeth. The hygenist, named George, took x-rays from my teeth; he couldn't place the films correctly in my mouth for my front teeth so he took the x-rays 3 times! Very clumsy. The dentist, Dr. Elysa Kliman, checked the x-rays and told me I had a few cavities which need to be filled. I made an appointment and went back to get them done. A few weeks later, my filled teeth started becoming sensitive to heat and cold and got worse by time. I consulted another dentist and she told me I need to fix my fillings as they haven't been done properly. Overall a very disappointing experience with these people. They are clumsy and don't know what they're doing. I wish I hadn't gone there. read more

She doesn't recommend over the top procedures but still clearly is passionate about oral care. After a recommendation from a good friend of mine, I decided to get my root canal done at Dr. Goodman's office. They are very professional and pleasant to deal with. They don't try to up sale you on anything that you don't need. I chipped my tooth the root canal was done on through my own fault and Dr. Goodman fixed it for free. They also give a free complimentary teeth whitening service at the end of your visits. Go and check them out, I promise you won't regret it!!!! read more

I have had a lot of work on my teeth over the years with braces and very large teeth that have overcrowded my teeth. I have to say that this dentist is by far one of the best dentists I have ever encountered. Just today she was able to save a tooth that I did not think could be saved due to the odd position it was in. Even she said it was a challenge but she pulled it off with very minimal discomfort as it was down to the nerve. I would HIGHLY recommend her! I have also had her son Kevin and he is excellent as well. I would use either one but just felt a bit more confident with her fixing this tooth due to the challenge it presented and her extra years of experience but they work together so you will be impressed. I have potential gum disease problems possibly created by sleeping with my mouth open, grinding of teeth etc and other dentists would just tell you that its a problem. Janice took it a step further and has signed I'm o a sleep clinic to get to the root of this rather than only treating the s symptoms. I am almost afraid to say how good she and her son are for fear it won't be so easy to get an appointment!!! Bottom line? Fantastic dentists, both Janice and her son Kevin!!!! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dr Janice Goodman and her staff. She is the first doctor (dentist or otherwise) that I have gone out of my way to promote to my family and friends. Dr. Goodman has incredible "bedside" manner and always makes me feel comfortable with whatever procedure I am getting done. Along with her extensive knowledge and gentle disposition, she is responsible for helping me get over my fear of dentists. Plus she goes out of her way to stay up to date on the latest research and procedures. As if that isn't enough, her staff is always friendly and helpful, and go out of their way to help me in emergencies. When I did have a serious dental emergency and Dr. Goodman was out town, her daughter took over. As I mentioned before, I used to have a great fear of dentists and was hesitant with having her daughter work on me. I was pleasantly surprised that her children are just as knowledgeable, pleasant and wonderful to interact with as she is.
