I waited over a month for an appointment just to have a frustrating experience. I booked at 11am because I was specifically told that's when the provider sees her first patient. Only to be told I was 3rd in line and she hadn't arrived yet. Also, they had no exact ETA on her. I decided to leave at 11:20, being that we had no updates on her arrival time. To make matters worse, Maria at the front desk had a nonchalant, careless attitude when I tried to understand what was going on. When you're already stressed and taking time out of your day for an appointment you've been waiting over a month for, the last thing you need is a careless attitude instead of help. (I was so upset, it made my eyes water.) However, I do want to acknowledge Lauren, who was kind, professional, and actually took the time to make me feel heard and a little more at ease. Doctor seems kind, but her staff is terrible!! I booked online through Zocdoc for an initial consultation for abnormal bleeding. Zocdoc said doctor was in my network, but when I arrived the staff had me pay $225 out of pocket since I lacked authorization. Upon paying for and completing the first appt, the doctor told her staff to seek authorization from my insurance for the second appt which would be an ultrasound. I asked the staff if my insurance would be authorized by the next appointment and they said "Yes, and if not then we will let you know ahead of time." Well....I arrived for my second appt and I asked the staff if my insurance was authorized. They said yes and if anything were to come up, then the authorization office would have let them know. After waiting for 25 minutes, the staff calls me to the counter just to tell me that THEY ARE NOT IN NETWORK WITH MY INSURANCE AND WILL HAVE TO PAY $220 out of pocket for an ultrasound and another $225 for a separate consultation about the ultrasound results. As a medical care staff, please be more diligent about using clear communication with patients who come in after rearranging their schedules and prepping their emotions for a potentially scary news. It is UNACCEPTABLE to tell a patient one thing and then switch up the story after they have arrived, checked in, waited, and anticipated to be seen for a SERIOUS issue like cysts or polyps. I remained calm and kindly told them I would not like to pay out of pocket for the ultrasound and asked them to cancel my appointment without charging me. At least they agreed not to charge me for cancelling my appointment the day of! All of my anger and frustration is being expressed in this post but it was respectfully contained away from their presence. I am hurt, I am sad, and extremely disappointed in the lack of forethought. A phone call or email about me not being eligible would have sufficed. It doesn't take much to double check the patient list and verify their insurance/coverage. You had an entire week to do so and my ultrasound appointment was mid week so Monday blues is not a viable excuse. Piss poor care from the staff and I hope you do better rather than having such a lackadaisical approach with women's lives, time, and health!!!! read more

I hate to leave an unfavorable review, but my experience was disappointing and the services provided by both doctor and staff are trash. It's not lost on me that there are few black doctors, and many of us feel we get better care thus better health outcomes when we are cared for by black doctors. That said, I hope this review serves as feedback for improvement for the doctor and also helps future patients with not wasting time with this woman. Dr. Hull's bedside manner is just trash. I had visited the office 3 times before I saw her...each time they had a student nurse provide care. By the 3rd time, I insisted on meeting the doctor and did I ever. She came in with a nurse and an attitude. It's obvious she's not good with people or hates her job. She never greeted and just started on the procedure. Never introduced the student nurse, which I wasn't comfortable having in the room, and never asked if it was okay to have someone in the room. The doctor gave no guidance or info just gathered what she needed for the tests and told me I was done and left. I mean really? I have questions. What are next steps? Do I need a follow up? Save yourself the trouble. Go somewhere where the doctor cares and your basic health needs are met because this doctor doesn't even care to ask. She's clearly not concerned about patient healthcare or outcomes. There has to be at least 1 good doc, who isn't booked until next year who can treat patients with respect and dignity because where you won't get it from is with Dr. Hull. My first review on ZocDoc was much more pleasant but now I see why she has negative reviews. My first issue is I went and saw her, didn't even get a call back until a whole month later when the staff had the nerve to ask me if I had been contacted yet? No and already decided I wasn't going back but thank you for calling a month later. My additional issue is, when I went to her it showed she was in network, all of a sudden she's not and of course I'm being billed. I specifically asked her staff at the end of my appointment if there was a payment or anything and they said "if there is we'll follow up" so I guess this is their follow up. I'm very irritated and glad I decided to not go back because it's very misleading, if you look up my information and have it on file with the documents I file, you should be able to say "hey sorry but you're not in our network like we thought" I would have left and not wasted a second of my time. I would not recommend, their seems to be a level of disorganization there and while I was trying to support black business after my experience i couldn't imagine taking my now pregnant self there ever again. Janice Hull has a terrible bedside manner and is completely unprofessional. The staff was nice and approachable. I'm currently pregnant with my 3rd child, and there's a 10yr age gap in between this and my last one. I was referred to her by my primary because of my medi-cal insurance. I was originally going in because I was diagnosed with PCOS earlier this year and then I found out I was pregnant just before my appointment. We were unsure of dates because of missed periods, but that wasn't the issue. The first appointment I went into, I requested to see a specialist because I was bed rested with my other 2 children and on top of that, I had a ovarian cyst and found out I had a split uterus. Just one of those things would be a complication, especially being pregnant with PCOS. She said we'd run some tests to send me to a specialist and she never did. A few weeks later, I felt bad and called the office. They urged me to go to the ER. After an ultrasound, they told me I had a small bleed in my placenta. I followed up with Dr. Hull. She basically told me that she could put me on bedrest as a courtesy, but it wasn't needed. We ultimately fell on light duty, but to continue to live my life as normal and not to have sex, but to prepare myself for a miscarriage. But also, not to stress about it. How do you not stress about the word Miscarriage!! She scheduled me for an ultrasound the following week. I went and the tech told me my bleed was gone and so was my "pregnancy cyst". Also, that if that cyst is gone before 12wks, it's a good indicator that the pregnancy will no move forward well. Again, implying I would miscarry because I was 8wks during the ultrasound. 2 days later, I felt terrible and called the office. No one answered and it said to leave a message and my call would be returned in 30min. It was never returned and I went back to the ER. They had told me the bleed in my placenta had grown a whole cm larger than my baby. That's considered a massive hemorrhage and is high risk to my pregnancy. I had a follow up appointment the following week and called ahead to let them know what had happened so there was at least notes. I went to the appointment and one of the receptionist told me there was nothing they could do for me during that appointment because I wasn't far enough along. They wanted to reschedule me. I told them that I needed to see the doctor because the hemorrhage had grown. They put me back in the lobby until the doctor would see me. She spoke to me in her hallway, where anyone could hear. She said that there was nothing they could do for me and it was all a waiting game. To prepare myself for a miscarriage and to live my life as normal and not be afraid of lifting anything. (I have 2 jobs as a waitress) also, not to have sex. Things can turn around for my baby, but if I lose the baby, I lose the baby. I left in tears and have had to deal with all of this alone because their office would not allow my husband in. We felt she was not taking my pregnancy or concerns seriously and we opted to switch over to a doctor that specializes in high risk pregnancies. They've been trying to request my records from Dr. Hull for the pasted few weeks and have been given the run around. If you know you pregnancy history or know you're going to be high risk, please find yourself a doctor that actually cares and will have enough respect of speaking to you behind closed doors. Took my mom here for two appointments. Each time we waited a total of 2.5 hours to be seen, and then some more as we waited for examination. The second time we came back, we just needed the results of the examination, we waited 2.5 hours again to find out my mom's exam was not transcribed. The tech (I believe a third party) didn't write down the results of her scan, so the receptionists had to contact her and write it down over the phone. We waited even longer for the assisting doctor(?) to give us the results. I understand that there are wait times at every office. But it's ridiculous that we have to wait 2.5+ hours with an appointment. What is frustrating is that my mom is a diabetic, and we didn't think it would take so long. Not sure if it has to do with the type of insurance my mom has? But literally every person that came in after got seen before her. To be able to reach this office is also impossible. I've called them numerous times to fill a prescription and set appointments. I left multiple voicemails to check in, but nothing. If you really need to, it's better to come in person to make an appointment, or have your PCP contact to schedule an appointment. I hope this review can be taken to improve the business so that future patients can have a better experience. read more

I don't know what else to do so maybe this will get them to call me back. The doctor herself was fine. I was charged the out of pocket rate for a preventative visit that my insurance had paid out to them. So that means I was charged double. I have been calling for weeks, someone finally calls me back, and says they're working on it and will get back to me. That was 3 months ago. I am lost as to why this even happened. There's no issue getting through to my insurance company they pick up right away and that was the excuse that was used. Doesn't make sense. I will update this post once the office calls me back. First time mom! I was about 13 weeks at the time. Already had one ultrasound done at 6 weeks at another clinic. I was in need of an OBGYN and a second ultrasound to see how my baby was progressing. PROS: -this clinic accepts straight Medi-Cal (not a lot of clinics do) -Staff was friendly and inviting -Dr. Janice Hull was nice and professional -wait time was not long CONS: -no urine test was done, which I assumed was protocol for any clinic with a new patient claiming she's pregnant. They just took my word for it. -the doctor couldn't find my baby's heartbeat with a fetal Doppler, which made me nervous (not questioning her skills or knowledge, but I was just worried about my baby). So I hoped to get better results from the ultrasound. Turns out, they did not have an ultrasound machine on-site. They have a tech that comes in every other week and was fully booked for the upcoming week, so I'd have to wait FOUR WEEKS to get an ultrasound. -they couldn't do my bloodwork in-clinic and gave me a list of locations away from them to get my blood drawn which is pretty inconvenient -I left not knowing how my baby was doing and felt unaccomplished Luckily a week later, I found another clinic that was able to do everything in one visit and also accepted Medi-Cal. I'm sure this clinic is not always like this, I might have came in during a tough time (COVID-19). This was just my personal experience. Good luck to you! read more

I went to Dr. Hull office for my yearly check up. I was promptly greeted by Angela, a very pleasant young lady that took care of my insurance papers. This is a very busy practice but I got to understand why, the staff is efficient and they try hard to accommodate everyone, they were young pregnant ladies and older ladies like me. My nurse Patty took care of my preliminary check up and was very professional and polite and Dr. Hull took time to listen to me and asked questions to get to know my medical history , she told me that they will call me in about a week to let me know the results of my test and they did! I have been coming to Dr. Hull for 3 years now at her Santa Monica Blvd. location. While Dr. Hull has managed to be a very friendly, patient-forward doctor, I am disappointed by the service of her office. Considering she splits her time between Inglewood and Beverly Hills, it is hard to get a hold of her office. This past summer, I was expecting medical results, which I was told word be given to me within a week. I called after two weeks to follow up, emailed Dr Hull several times - not until a month did I find out that they had partial results. A week after that, they finally gave me everything after I threatened to leave. It truly is a mess of an office but whenever I have the chance to see Dr Hull it makes up for it. Stay AWAY!!! I came to Janice L Hull office last year when I found out I was pregnant with my first child. I wasn't seen by her until 3 months. It was so many times I came in and wanted information on the safety of my child. I received 2 ultrasounds 1 in the 1st trimester and the 2nd during my second trimester. My third trimester I wasn't given an ultrasound at all. At my 37 week check I told her for the 4th or 5th time about my pain and being out of breathe. When she asked about the movement of my baby I said it wasn't as strong but it's probably because I'm on the smaller side. (Let me remind you this is my first pregnancy) Her reaction was negative as if I should know something is wrong so she said go to a hospital on my way home since she can't induce me at 37 weeks. I checked in only to find out I had PREECLAMPSIA!!!! Me and my child could have died! My boyfriend watched as I endorse the worst week in the hospital. Janice L HULL never called to check on me when I missed my appointment. I could have been dead along with my son due to her negligence! I took off of work and had a SCHEDULED appointment, yet I waited over two hours before seeing the Dr.'s assistant (who is actually very kind and was apologetic). When I scheduled my appointment two weeks prior i gave them all of my insurance information and upon arrival I had to give them everything all over again. The staff here are nice girls but this does not compensate for the frustration of waiting forever to see the doctor. Erika was very kind and straight forward with me after I waited so long which helped take the edge off, but their kindness is not worth the visit. I was advised I would be given a prescription and a month has passed and the prescription has still not been submitted to the pharmacy. Please friends, don't waste your time. Find a different doctor. Writing an update because I got a call the other day from an assistant. The assistant asked me if I had gotten my surgery done (it had been 9 months since I last saw the gynecologist, Janice, because apparently she wanted to do my surgery. It took her months to decide she wanted to do surgery on me?) Considering it took more than half a year to get back in touch with me, I still think this place is not trustworthy. Why would I want to get surgery from someone who couldn't even follow up with me in a timely manner? They also called from another number not listed on this Yelp page (I looked for the listed number in my call history to see when they called), but it didn't show up and unfortunately I don't recall what number it was. I'm surprised they even called me up at all to offer a service I was seeking at the beginning of the year. I had the most horrible experience with this doctor. Im sorry to say but i highly doubt that she is even a qualified doctor. I went to her for my prenatal visits with my first baby. She was forcing me to get my pap smear test done. When i said i will do it after my delivery, she literally told me that she is not responsible if i loose my baby during delivery. Thats just one thing. During my anatomy scan, the technician didnt explain to me how the baby is doing. The only thing she told me is the gender and the heartbeat ( which i asked). During my next visit i asked the doctor to tell me how the baby is doing as noone has explained me, I also asked her to tell me the results of few tests which i had to undergo. She was like " i will tell you if there is a problem, i cant remember details about each and every patient." After that she just told me that my baby is in right position and her weight thats it, nothing else. Oh and she was really annoyed coz i asked her explain my anatomy scan. She is always in a rush and hardly answers any questions. She even receives calls while checking the baby's heartbeat with doppler. Extremely unprofessional. As i was not at all satisfied with her services, i changed my doctor. Now she has a problem with transferring my records. I have called her office multiple times but of no use. As i have high deductible plan, the billing department at her office said that i have to meet my deductibles before reaching 36weeks of pregnancy and like a stupid i have paid them around $1000 till now but only around 30% of the amount i have paid has been added to my deductibles. When i called and ask them about it, they told that a final claim has to be processed after which they will check and refund me the balance amount. When i called my insurance to know about that final claim, i got to know that they haven't received any claim. Its been more than 3 months since my last visit to her office. There is nothing good about her or her staff. Staff is extremely rude and the doctor is not fit for treating patients. If u r planning to go to her pls pls reconsider ur decision once again. Got referred by my PCP to this doctor, initially I came in the wait wasn't terrible. BUT trying to get a hold of the doctor is nearly impossible. They have their voicemail set up so that it goes straight to it. My doc never put in the request for a device I need and I just happened to find out about it 2 Months after it was supposed to be put in because I called my insurance to see wether or not it got authorized or denied. Janice as well as her Ultrasound sound is AMAZING! They are both professional. Dr. Janice was extremely involved in my gestational size. She gave insightful suggestions about my fitness routines. The Ultrasound Tech Katrina also suggested I FaceTime my Husband (since no non-patients are allowed in office due to Covid-19) and it was eye opening because I didn't even think to do this! My first visit was okay. Took me a week before I could actually talk to someone over the phone to schedule an appointment. The second time, same thing...no answer the "building lost signal". I had been rushed to the hospital and had to follow up with an OBGYN to make sure my ovaries wouldn't twist. To my luck, they scheduled me in only to find out they had done a mistake. Made another appointment and instead of calling me, they waited until the day of to tell me that they had some issues with my insurance. They told me to wait 24hours and that they'd call. I called my primary doctor and in 5 min. they gave me an answer. Whereas, this office still didn't know what was going on. They then tell me they've fixed things and that I have to reschedule and hang up. I call back and it turns out they don't even know their own ultrasound technician's schedule. For they had to wait until she felt like going in to see if I could be accommodated....it's been TWO WEEKS NOW. Fuck this place. PATIENT NEGLECT! Janice ignored my moms requests to remove her womb due to massive blood loss for years and being super anemic (got 3 blood transfusions within weeks from one another before I took her to LAC USC) her excuse was she didn't have cancer and she can't remove it unless the patient asked. When my mom did! And my mom did in fact have cancer! She never checked in on my mom even while knowing she was bleeding so much and kept having blood transfusions. Her primary doctor and another at an urgent care in Norwalk would tell my mom to go elsewhere because Janice should've taken her womb out a long time ago! Her puppets at front desk are so useless as well. They don't answer and give bs responses when they finally do, saying they'll let the dr know. My mom has been suffering since I took her to LAC USC on Feb 2021. She's dying she's in stage 4. Shame on you! She milks Medi-cal insurance and doesn't care that her patients are in pain, sick, and dying!!! read more

The worst experience ever!!! What a waste of time.. ASHLEY the "office manager" (really??) smh she was soooooooo rude, and so dry, she did not greet or welcoming me to doctor hulls place of business at all what so ever.. What the hell kind of manager is that!! First of all, on the Internet and voicemail, it clearly says business hours are from 9am-5pm, I get their and yes you guessed it right!! Lol they were CLOSED SMH.. It was a sign on the window that says business hours are 9:30-5. I was cool with that, my appointment was @ 10-10-30 anyway. so I left went to mobys for breakfast came back at 9:27am lights were on, so that's clearly a sign that someone is here and they are about to open.. 9:31 I knocked at the door, no answer. About a second later the curtains move, I'm like okay they see me standing out side and it's clearly after 9:30. But It could have been a lil wind blowing from somewhere in the inside, so I could be wrong about that.. So I called, I here the phone ring inside the office, then it goes voicemail., I knock again at 9:33 no answer, I call again,... tell me why she turns the ringer off, so I call again just to see if I'd here the phone ring in the inside the office again and guess what??? Yes your right again she turned the ringer off.. So now I'm feeling some type of way.. 3 minutes later, the door was unlocked and slightly pushed opened.. So I'm still standing outside like okayyyy "I guess she's trying to tell me" hello sorry to keep you waiting, were you waiting long? Come on in and have a seat.. Did you have an appointment today, Dr hull will be with you shortly..Ect.. I got none of that, moreover after trying to explain to her that I was outside waiting, calling, "this, that and the 3rd" this chick cut me completely off and asked, "what are you here for??" YES I WALKED THE HELL OUT!!! the so called office manager Ashley walked right by me, gave me no eye contact, no smiles, no life, no nothing.. And I'm justa smiling, and she gave me nothing.. I went in the bathroom, stood their for a sec thought about it and walked out.. And here comes DR JANICE HULL following me all the way to my car.. Oh what happen?? Why did you leave?? I told her I'm not having the best service or experience at your place of business.. Her response was "oh I understand" oh I understand" And I'm looking at her like REALLY ARE YOU SERIOUS!! Bye Felicia!!!!! I do not recommend this place to anyone!! There are other offices in this area they will appreciate your time, money and business a bit more better then Dr Janice hulls office!! After my first visit, I got a call with some results and was told that I would be prescribed something to help. On that call, I was asked to confirm the default pharmacy where I wanted my prescription sent (info that I had previously given them during my first visit). I go away for the holidays and return to pick up my prescription. The prescription had not been sent to the pharmacy. I give the doctor's office a call to find out why and was placed on hold for 7-12 minutes by the office "apprentice" (who I am certain isn't properly taking/relaying messages). She responds to every concern with "ok", but has never followed up on anything that I've discussed with her. I call again throughout the next few days hoping to speak with either of the two other front desk staff members. Unfortunately, the apprentice answered all of these calls. On top of all of that, I was told "You never provided a default pharmacy to send the prescription." It took an additional 3 weeks before the prescription was sent to the appropriate pharmacy. I wasn't going to write this review but at this point I'm pissed. I went to this office almost a week and a half ago to get a culture. My results were back pretty quick but I have yet to get my prescription filled because she's never in the office and they NEVER answer the phone. This is seriously unacceptable, unprofessional and ridiculous! read more
