Nicely organized store with great inventory variety. In addition to your card needs, you'll find great gifts for all occasions. Maybe even something for yourself! The staff is super helpful and friendly which makes shopping enjoyable. Plus they're vigilant on their COVID protocols requiring masks and all shoppers to use hand sanitizer before shopping. Visited here earlier today in the afternoon looking for gifts for my family. Was in there for about a half hour -- 3 employees and I wasn't greeted once, nor asked if I needed any help. Had plenty of money to spend and was ready to, but the stink eye from the manager was disheartening. Other people were shopping around directly in the aisles next to me and she asked them if they needed help, and greeted and said goodbye to everyone else. I've been living in New Bern since 2001 and this was an awful way to be treated by a snooty old retail hag. I'll just buy this stuff online. It's a lot cheaper. Xoxo read more

Everyone working at the store wears a face covering and will not allow anyone in without one. Apparently they have been criticized for being so strict on the face covering policy but without question this is a very good thing! People not wearing one have no consideration for their fellow man. The store has an excellent selection of merchandise and it is always clean and well stocked. My one criticism is their prices tend to be high and that warranted a one star deduction. read more

Just about the worse customer service I have ever experienced! After the postal service damaged my recordable book I returned to your store for a replacement. When the book was not in stock I asked the clerk if she could order one for me. The answer was not " I'd be glad too" but no you can do it on line yourself. It was even a chore for the employees to stop their conversation between themselves to wait on a customer. Just the worse customer service. I just wish I could have a conversation with the owner. I went in with a complaint about a product I purchased. Three different sales associates including the assistant manager said they had never sold the product. I have a witness to the fact that I bought the item there. That was 3 times in 30 minutes that I was called a liar. I made my purchase on a credit card and spent over $45.00 of which I have proof. I never intend to spend another cent there and will spread the word to all my friends. Your staff needs a little training in tactfullness. read more

I am new to New Bern and was looking for a replacement Hallmark store, strolled into this store last December, met the owner Jan who is also a painter and was able to get the 1st in a series ornament designed by her, Tryon Palace and got this years the waterfront with Santa...Nice lady and also met her husband and daughter, good people, a family owned business always needs to have a least a member of the family on site everyday to watch and see how their employees are treating customers?? My concern is there seems to be a lot of confusion with the staff on products even the ones on sale?? They have a paint dot of different colors and the customer should get the item for that percentage off. I do the WISH list and twice now my bag for July and October did not have all the ornaments I had requested?? I have been an ornament collector since 1986; I don't like to have to figure out how I'm going to get the ornaments I need. Also don't care much for the ass't manager, she is quite gruff, agumenative when you as a customer bring something to her attention; there were ornaments out that should not have been put out until November, no doubt some of them sold early, I asked as I wanted these 2 in my WISH list bag for November and didn't get an answer? She always seems to be in a rush to wait on customers, also she will blow up her employees headsets with a questions when she can see they are with a customer, I find that to be totally RUDE, NB is a senior town and we will spend and do spend money; young customers not so much, so far in the last 4 trips to this Hallmark store I have spent 800.00+ that's significant...I asked as every November they give customers a goody bag, well I ask about that and it depends on what we spend, I currently hope I get the goody bag coupon as I will be speaking to the owners if I don't. They have 1 employee that stands out in my opinion and that is Renee, she is sweet very helpful, recognizes her customers, an asset to Jan's Hallmark, there is a new young employee that is acting a bit like the ass't manager that is not a good thing when you have a lot to learn. I love them products love the sale items, but if you no longer have an item available, take down the sign..it adds more confusion that is not necessary considering how many employees are in the store at any given time, on Monday of this week, there were at least 5...store wasn't busy..so walk around double check that inventory is up to date and any promos are current. read more

I was just in the store, I stood in there for 15-20 minutes and the cashiers just kept watching us. There were 2 cashiers and neither one offered to help us. One helped a customer and turned around and started putting rubber bands on boxes. Never once did she offer help. Well, to bad for them but they just lost a customer and a sale. read more

Just visited Jan's Hallmark. It is a huge store with many brands and different types of products. An excellent place to find the perfect gift for someone (or yourself). The owner and staff are very friendly, personable and helpful. I'm so glad we happened upon this store while visiting from out of town! read more
