Avoid! Inedible food and a headache for a refund. Rating: I'd give Japan Denver zero stars if it were an option. We ordered Teriyaki, but they sent out Hibachi instead. Usually, a wrong order is just an annoyance, but this was actually inedible. The meat was so burnt I had to spit out the first bite. To make matters worse, when we called to fix the issue, they tried to push a "food credit" on us. After tasting that char, the last thing we wanted was more food from them. My husband had to argue back and forth with them before they finally agreed to a refund on our card. First time eating here and I dined in. At first I was thinking the service would be terrible as they were not very busy (7:45) and the hostess took a minute to notice I was there, however after that the service got better. My waitress checked on me probably 3-4 times in total which I feel is good but not to much. I went with hibachi steak and added broccoli it was as you would expect pretty good. Nothing was extremely under or over cooked which was nice. I also got the egg rolls and honestly for almost $5 I feel like these didn't offer much value or flavor. I was expecting something like a Panda Express kind of egg or spring roll but it just wasn't hitting. Won't get these again. Probably try again but just do takeout. read more

We saw this place just out for a drive one day and decided to stop in and check it out. The restaurant is very clean and the food is nice and fresh. They actually have a drive- thru which I think is pretty cool. They have hot sake and a selection of beer and wine. The food portions were great. read more

Have been here multiple times before and haven't ever had any issues. This last time I went I got filet and it came out completely raw. Like fully red, not just rare. Sent it back and came back with the same steak just cooked some more and it was the toughest and lowest quality steak. The only thing keeping this place afloat is that it's the only Japanese restaurant in Denver. I used to go pretty regularly but the food quality has steadily declined to the point of where it's hit or miss every time you go. But even worse than the food is the waitstaff. To be fair, the service was always the worst in Denver but last week I reached my breaking point. I was the ONLY person in the restaurant and sat waiting for them to take my order while they sat two booths away texting and gossiping. This went on for 5 minutes before I could order a water. When I ran out of water I had to wait another 15 minutes for a refill, which is only because I had to hail the waitress WHO WAS SITTING 5 FEET AWAY. She apparently didn't like this and didn't speak to me for the rest of the time I was there, slamming down each water refill and walking to the next booth to text on her phone. Oh, and don't bother calling for take out because even when the restaurant is empty they let the phone ring will they sit less than ten feet away gossiping. Terrible food, ghetto service. I am really surprise about all the bad reviews for this place! We recently moved to the area, and are trying restaurants one by one. I am loyal to yelp, and when I saw the stars we almost did not visit, but we decided to give it a shot! One of the reasons I wanted to is because it has 100% sanitary rating! And you never really see that anywhere! The restaurant is no frills. It is not going to be the hibachi place that has the flames go flying in front of your face. But, it is inexpensive for what it is, and tastes pretty good! They have hibachi, sushi, and all of the appetizers that most Japanese places have. The restaurant is clean, and well taken care of. The portions are very big! I got the low-carb chicken, and had plenty for the next day. I I did see people complain on here about orders not being right. Our orders were correct with the exception of the sauces we ordered were wrong, as well as I asked for no carrots and I was still given carrots. I ordered by phone and picked up at the drive through. I saw wait staff and those loading boxes wearing masks. People who were cooking were not wearing masks. Is that allowed? I've messaged this manager before when I saw a kid (too young to be working) walk out of the kitchen and scoop ice with his cup. State law requires a scoop be used. Cups cannot go in the ice. The young girl on the phone confirmed my name and told us it would be 30 min. Got to the establishment about 25 min later after we called and the order was not ready. 10 cars in front of us in the pick up window. Finally got to the pick up window 30 min later to be asked what our name is, which we gave the employee. Employee then informed us that there is no order under our name at all. Ok, so what about the order itself with a different name put in? Nope. We ask to speak to the manager and a oriental gentlemen came to the window that was the owner and had zero opinion or options for us other than telling us that we need to go online or call in an order again! We proceeded to inform him we had already done so and whoever was taking the call in orders (probably the 16 year old girl on the phone that we could visibly see in the window) is not doing her job nor caring to. Owner gave us no apology nor a solution. Here we are over an hour later with no dinner... The correct thing for the owner to do was give us an order from someone that just called in that was not at the store yet and make a new order. We listened to the three servers talk about how they were getting their nails done our waitress is obviously getting hombre because that's all that will look good on her hands according to her. This is while no one was taking our order or refilling our drinks. We have eaten at a lot of sushi places from coast to coast. I have had better sushi from a gas station.They use imitation crab meat in a every thing. It was disgusting. I had the steak and shrimp. The steak was over cooked the rice tasted like a wet dog smells. The shrimp sauce is mayo and ketchup mixed. I think they were trying for yum yum sauce.
