This is such a cool garden in Coyoacan!
This garden memorializes the 100th anniversary of the Independence of Mexico.
Jardín Centenario is right next to the Plaza Hidalgo on the Zocalo of Coyoacan. It's a laid back, manicured set of gardens with a few fountains, a gazebo, and lots of benches to hang out on.
If you show up on Saturday evenings, they have a little neighborhood party going on- with jugglers, clowns, musicians, and other performers going around for a few pesos. They also sell gifts and toys for kids, and a few handicrafts to take home with you.
It's a quite picturesque park, with the coyote fountain right in the middle of the area.
Surrounding the gardens are lots of cool places to eat or grab a drink.
I heard that the long building to the edge of the gardens is where Cortez set up his administrative offices to rule Tenochtitlon after he conquered Mexico.
Be sure to check out the fountain with the statue of the coyotes frolicking in the water! read more
