Fiesta Americana is a beautiful and historic 18th century sugarcane hacienda turned hotel - maintaining its Spanish colonial design, architecture, and landscape with added modern amenities. When you think of a telenovela filmed at a picturesque hacienda, this is it. I spent a few mornings just walking the grounds and taking it all in, from century-old murals to photos and paintings on the wall to hidden hallways and rooms that - I must admit - made me a bit timid to explore further on my own. While touring the grounds on my own accord, I came across black and white photos of Mexican film "Los Gavilanes" (1956), which was shot at this hotel. (The film starred Pedro Infante, Lilia Prado, and Ana Bertha Lepe.) I also learned that in 2017, a secret wine room was discovered, which now the hotel hosts special private dinners for up to 10 people. So much history on this property... We stayed at the hotel for three nights, and throughout the stay we had reliable wifi, hot water, and A/C. The highlights of the stay - for me - was the grounds (I'm a plant mom and loved the landscaping), the pool (you can't beat the weather in Cuernavaca), and the breakfast buffet at La Molienda. I ate chilaquiles and papaya every single morning. Features and amenities include: :: Two pools on opposite sides of the property (both with bar service and pool towels) :: A cardio + weight gym (with gym towels, hand sani, and complimentary water bottles) :: One restaurant, La Molienda :: Spa :: A Starbucks cafe :: Multiple venue spaces for weddings and large events :: A chapel :: Bridal and groom suites :: A cantina/game room (very basic with a pool table and foosball) :: Conference rooms and convention space ...And it's dog-friendly! The only thing that wasn't five-stars about it, and you can't fault the culture/customs of a small, slow-paced town, was the service. It takes - what feels like - forever to order a drink, close a tab, get a cab (so plan ahead, and even when you do arrange for a cab, double check with the front desk). Oh, and the a la carte menu items weren't that amazing. The brunch buffet is where they truly shine.

Alex and his crew picked us up from out resort in a very nice boat and took us on a privet snorkeling adventure. They were so nice and explained everything. We even had a tour guid in the water. He would point out fish and coral for us. They brought us cold beer and the gear we needed. I paid less for this private tour then I did snorkeling at the resorts for my family. I can't wait to go back and go deep sea fishing and snorkeling with Alex and the crew. Thanks DC Explorers for a experience I will never forget! This company is a MUST!!!

Anytime we needed a taxi they called one for us which is helpful when you are traveling and running around trying to get wifi. The rooms are decent size and clean, the bathrooms are little outdated but still very clean and comfortable. The right side of the hotel hosts the grand fountain, a pool, a covered patio, and even a small chapel. We had a lovely stay, minus the mosquito bites that are unfortunately unavoidable and no fault of the hotel. Check it out, you wont be disappointed !

The price of the rooms vary according to size and if you want a room with or without air-conditioning. The climate is moderate even in the summer, with cool evenings, so most people who live here do not use air-conditioning. During the last days of August I thought I would need it but I really did not miss it. The ceiling fan in the bedroom was enough with the window open to allow cool air in. The hotel has a good security and is rather tranquil. Next to the chapel in the front of the complex there are some conference rooms. From there, there are several rows of rooms, from which you can choose the first floor the second floor. There are no elevators, so second-floor guest would need to use the stairs. The one thing I appreciate about this hotel is it's cleanliness and tranquility. Don't expect American-style amenities in your rooms such as coffee service or hairdryers. If you want coffee or something else to eat the restaurant is open during normal hours. I found the food at the restaurant to be quite good, and inexpensive. The service was friendly but not the most attentive. This hotel is family friendly. The rooms are basic but nice. I had one of the smallest rooms as I am traveling alone. There is ample closet space and plenty of plugs for recharging devices. I have not use the very small TV which is up next to the ceiling. If you want a remote you have to ask for one. I was provided one water bottle. The bathroom has soap shampoo and moisturizing cream. There were two towels one hand towel and a bathmat. The toilet area is separate from the shower and sink. There is a door separating the bedroom from the bathroom areas and entrance. I found the bed to be quite hard. The pillows were also overstuffed and very hard. Not the most comfortable but passing. The bedding was clean and linens changed daily. Without an air conditioner running to provide background noise I recommend using a white noise machine or application on your smart phone. I always carry a small speaker that connects with Bluetooth for such use. My white noise application really helps as the sound in the hallway tends to carry with the tile floor. With the window open there is some noise from the street or birds especially in the morning. So if that will bother you you need to get a room with an air-conditioner or use a white noise machine to get a good night's sleep.

We came to Mexico City for our friend's destination wedding. They said the location is two and half…read morehours south of the City, but not to worry as they would have a shuttle take the guests out to the Hacienda San Gabriel, in the Cuernavaca area. On the day of travel, we boarded the shuttle for the transport to the Hacienda. It is actually located 35 minutes south of Cuernavaca in Amacuzac, Morelos. The Hacienda was a sugar cane plantation and it still grows sugar cane as evidenced from the canes in the fields on this large property. But the main part of Hacienda is beautiful from the rooms, swimming pools, restaurant and the grounds. Our friends had a pre-wedding reception party at the bar/pool area for the guests. The next day, the wedding was held in a large lawn area that was beautifully set-up. After the wedding the guests walked to the waterfall area for the reception. Then we all proceeded to the restaurant for the dinner/reception. It was a beautiful wedding event at the Hacienda all around. For amenities, we did horseback riding, which was an hour ride guide by a vaquero, though the Hacienda property. You can swim, play tennis, go to the spa and play billiards. The restaurant offers a breakfast buffet and a set menu at the patio area. There was free wi-fi, but it was limited to the area around the hotel office and restaurant. Due to the stone walls, you cannot pick-up wi-fi from your room. Wished there were routers in the rooms. It was nice experience being in a lovely Hacienda. Beautiful grounds and friendly service.
