He showed up a few weeks later. We did not have to call him again like we have had to do with many contractors who promise and then never show. He and his helper got the big root grinder off his trailer and started the nasty, dusty job. He spoke with me before he started going over exactly what we wanted and he made suggestions which we agreed to. Then he did exactly what we agreed to. He used protective boards to avoid sending rock and/or pieces of roots in to our house, fence, or shrubs. They cleaned up the pieces including the rocks that we have in our yard all over. I remember looking at my overgrown laurel hedge while he wrote down a term I had never heard "grown to sky". I said, "Great, as long as you cut a clean line at the top to keep our privacy from the neighbours. Before his crew came I sent an email explicitly stating I wanted the laurel hedge to be neatly trimmed at the top. I wasn't home when they did the work, my husband who knows nothing was. I returned home, the hedge looked like long, sickly bamboo, front hedge is crooked, ornamental grass was not trimmed as agreed upon and paid for. I called and honestly, I cannot remember a time in my life when somebody has yelled at me the way the owner did. He was screaming at me! We paid the bill. It wasn't cheap but we always pay our bills.
