My recent surgery to repair an inguinal hernia was performed by Dr. Russel Martin, and I can tell you with absolute confidence that it was the easiest surgical experience of my life. Dr. Martin is a very good-natured man who exudes and inspires confidence that clearly comes, not from arrogance, but from experience, genuine skill, and dedication to his profession. All of my questions were answered ... all of my concerns were addressed. Dr. Martin was both patient and articulate. His team in the office and at the hospital (St. Agnes) were top-flight and made me feel very well cared for the entire time. My anesthesiologists were flawless. On a scale of 1-10 my post-op pain level never got past a 4 and my recovery has been rapid (two weeks later I am in the pool swimming laps and feeling fine) I feel none of the common post-op discomfort sometimes caused by the injection of CO2. I am 78 and Dr. Martin, made sure that I was ok for the procedure by sending me to Dr. Khoi Le (also an excellent doctor) for a cardiac clearance. As I said, surgery is stressful, but I can honestly say that Dr. Martin is the best I could hope for, and I remain very satisfied and grateful for his help in improving the quality of my life. The procedure went exactly as planned and I am very satisfied. He wanted to see me for a few post-surgical visits to ensure I was healing properly and there was no sign of infection. The staff is excellent and very friendly and I never waited longer than 5 minutes to be seen. My only suggestion is to improve the after-hours call service. The on-call Dr. 7/1 (day after my surgery) was not helpful nor professional and the wait time to speak to a doctor was ridiculous. I am so happy that surgery is behind me and I am well again! They were kind, courteous and walked me through every single step from what the process entails, to what it feels like, the duration of time it was expected to take, and more. At the end, I asked one question which to my surprise was thoroughly answered, complete with a little demonstration of what the images mean, how they see them and what is normal vs. not. The only parts I didn't like? I was called ahead of time to pre pay for my 'patient responsibility' portion (a hefty amount) and I thought it was a scam at first. I asked if I could pay when I got there and they said no because of efficiency when I arrived. (sounded suspicious, but it was completely accurate) the other was parking. It seems it might be difficult to find parking sometimes, but what's nice is they have someone driving around that can take you from your car to your destination and back!

I called again at night so the medical assistant would call me first thing in the morning, saying I was still concerned about my symtpoms and wanting to see the doctor and NEVER got a call back! The medical assistant is the conduit between the patient and the doctor and his medical assistants is unprofessional and doesn't seem to care for Dr. Guinto's patients. They rescheduled me for a week after the priorly scheduled appointment. Then they called and left me a voicemail canceling that appointment. I called the office back and they said the next appointment was months out and they'd have 'Zoe' call me. Well I never got rescheduled and never got ahold of anyone. Still no follow up appointment months later. Honestly this place is the WORST office I've ever been to. I give up. You can BET they are calling me to pay my bill though, so that's lovely. Bottom line is they push hundreds of people in and out of this place and money is all they care about. ----------------------------------------------- I saw Dr. Guinto who seemed genuine and listened to my concerns. At my first visit I had to arrive an hour early where I then waited almost two hours to be called back into the room. I then got my MRI. MRI department was wonderful. No complaints there. I had some issues trying to determine why this doctor suddenly said out of network when a week earlier it said he was in network (my insurance ended up solving the issue). The office staff was of ZERO help. They have been so rude when I have called in. Now I'm trying to schedule a follow up appointment, and they are over a month and a half out AND do not care about working around your schedule. As much as I appreciated Dr. Guinto, I'm going to try to find another doctor and go here as an absolute last resort. I have a M-F job and cannot spend 3-4 hours total waiting to be seen by a doctor. It's very difficult to even get the time off for a visit as Is.
