This was my first visit, and I came in dealing with significant finger, hand, wrist, and elbow pain. Dr. Wiater was extremely attentive and took the time to truly listen to my concerns. He provided an injection, ordered a nerve study, and took me off work for a few weeks so I could properly heal. Once carpal tunnel syndrome was confirmed, he worked closely with both me and my employer to create a gradual return-to-work plan with appropriate restrictions. My pain and symptoms were never ignored. His PA, Claire, is also wonderful--compassionate, attentive, and great to work with. I am still healing from the steroid injection and will be starting physical therapy soon, but I feel confident in my care every step of the way. I highly recommend Dr. Wiater and his team. His surgical team synchronizes his orchestral abilities to perform complex neurological surgeries. As a Nurse, and clinical coordinator, I have seen the best, in my region. I wish I had the IV persons name I would ask for a review of his credentials from the state. I would steer clear of Brownshown office. Dr Michael Ellenberg explained the process in detail, had great bedside manner, was professional, friendly and very concerned about my elbow pain. By this time I was totally relaxed and ready for the procedure. Looks like good ole tendinitis to put it simple.

Immediately after surgery, the preoperative pain was gone (although there was postoperative​​ pain related to the surgery, it was only temporary). I went in for my 6 months​ follow up​ yesterday. The x rays showed complete fusion (healing) and on top of that, I continue to enjoy my pain-free​ status with excellent​ function. I love this guy, he's compassionate and caring. He talks to me like a regular person and has never made me feel like he was in a hurry. After surgery I had some issues, partly due to my having fibro and he was so patient with me. The office staff is very friendly. The only thing I could complain about is Dr Houseman's PA at Ascension Macomb. He's quite abrupt and cold. He would walk-in all high and mighty, no smile, just stand there and say "Ready to go home". Never bothering to ask how I was feeling, if everything was ok, just informing me that if I didn't go home after 3 days I'd have to go into a nursing home! (My dad had just died the week before in a nursing home) It would of been nice to know these things BEFORE surgery.

Don't take the first review from the guy that obviously needs a 'different kind of doctor' and someone to lick his wounds for him lol. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. They didn't take me back until 2:15. The doctor did not come in the room until sometime around 3:30pm. I went to ask if they perhaps forgot about me (this actually happened to me at a different place) and they assured me that this long wait is normal. What? If it's normal then perhaps trying to come up with a solution for this issue would be beneficial. My only bit of solace was knowing that they close at 4:30 so I knew I couldn't be there forever. My appointment lasted under 10 minutes. I had another appointment and because I waited so long the first time, I wanted to arrive exactly at my appointment time. I misjudged the time and would be 10 minutes late. I called though to tell them and I was put on hold. They informed the doctor and he said we would have to reschedule! lol! The person on the phone was super friendly and apologetic but I think it's insane that I can wait so long for my appointment the first time which is "normal" but they couldn't take me 10 minutes late?!? It makes me feel as though they really don't care about me as a patient. At all. I'm in pain and my appointment was just for a steroid shot.
