We had about a 60' tree fall during the big storm here in STL last month. We also had another tree…read morethat was leaning and would fall during the night. Someone gave me Jay's info and he was not able to help us that night. All of the places we called couldn't. The priority was getting trees off of houses - as it should have been. Jay did drop a business card off at my house the next day. We had found someone to clean up the fallen tree and take down the one that was going to fall on the night of the storm. But we needed someone to take down the four trees that were left. My husband called Jay and he came out and gave us a bid and we accepted it. Were they the least expensive? No. But they also weren't the most expensive! A crew of six guys showed up at 7:00AM on a Friday morning. They worked quickly, efficiently, and hard. In seven hours they removed four 60' trees, ground up six huge stumps and cleaned everything up. They protected our grass and other plants as well as they could. They were pleasant group of guys. They provide all sorts of outdoor services. I can't recommend them highly enough!

In addition prior to this morning I would recommend this place to anyone who needs firewood with a 5 star rating. But, after this morning they have lost me as a customer and I will make sure to tell everyone I know. I pulled into the mill, and walked up to the window to prepay just like normal. It appeared there was 3 men and a lady inside the office/pay window. As soon I I got to the window, the lady employee who had her back to me turned around, made eye contact with me, never acknowledged I was there, then turned around and walked away. My first thought was ok, maybe she has to do something before she can process my payment. Then she came back to the window, made eye contact for a second time, but, did not acknowledge I was there and walked away a second time. At that point I knocked on the window and held up my money (cash) to show the people inside I wanted to make a purchase. There was a gentleman sitting down talking on the phone, he looked up at the window then immediately turned his head and continued talking on the phone. Next the lady comes walking past the window again looked at me and for a 3rd time did not acknowledge me. At this point I decided I was no longer going to be ignored and left. If, just once someone would have opened the window and said hang on we'll be with you shortly. Or, if someone would have held up a finger to let me know they would be with me in a minute. I would have been fine with that and would have waited. But, to be completely ignored by 3 or 4 people is completely UNPROFESSIONAL!! I WILL NOT BE BACK!!!!

I will start off by saying we used this company in 2015 and 2016 without any issue. The firewood was great quality and they delivered and stacked. We were very happy and even recommended them to several friends. On October 8 of this year, I contacted Mr. Brady Voelker and spoke with him and his wife Julie about wanting a 1/2 a cord of wood. I explained that we still had some left over from last year and said I thought we could probably make due with 1/4, but my husband still wanted a 1/2. I was quoted $140 and they said they would deliver on the next Wednesday. I wasn't going to be home, but said I would leave a check for them. On Wednesday, I arrived home to find less firewood than I expected. I thought perhaps there was a misunderstanding and they had quoted and delivered 1/4 of a cord based on our conversation. I immediately called and left a message just to see if there was a miscommunication. And if I had only paid for 1/4, then all was fine. But, I just wasn't sure. I was fairly certain they had quoted the price for 1/2 a cord. They never returned the call. Over the next week, I called and left 3 or 4 messages that went unreturned. I did some research about how much wood I should actually have. From what I understand, a 1/2 a cord is 64 cubic feet. We already had about 9 cubic feet left over from last winter on our porch. The pile now measures 46.5 cubic feet, meaning we only got about 37 cubic feet delivered. We were definitely shorted if it was supposed to be a 1/2 a cord. Since they weren't returning my calls, I wasn't certain if I had paid for 1/4 or 1/2. I tried calling from a different number. They answered right away. I asked, anonymously, how much they charge for 1/2 a cord. She quoted $140. So, I then explained who I was and that I was afraid that not enough firewood had been delivered. She told me she would have Brady call me as soon as he got home. He never called. I have left numerous messages and have sent private messages through social media with no response. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that there was a miscommunication at first. But, after their avoidance to make this situation right, I now know that they took my money and did not deliver what was promised. Avoid them as they are not concerned with good business practices.

I ordered a face cord and they cross stack the wood to fill the dimensions of 4x8 shorting me on a full face cord for $150. When I called them on it one of the owner Joe said everybody does it that way and started slamming the local companies including Western Landscape Supply saying it's his business to know the competition. I've bought firewood for many years (including from WLS) and know that cross stacking logs is a way of delivering less wood to the customer. Joe tried to use the logic that everyone else does it that way (not true) and it's also to hold the wood in place - I have a metal firewood rack! The other rep (who smelled like weed) said let's add more wood to make you happy and the less than happy rep reluctantly threw @10 more logs on his cart and added it to the pile. I showed the mellow rep a pic from WLS website on my phone showing them how they stack firewood and he didn't offer a fight. Beware!
