I really hate having to leave this review. There were things that were great, but major things that…read morewent very wrong. The job that was accepted was too big for them, and that was because Chivarous and his father were communicating over the phone and with pictures. So when it came time to grind the stump from the tree they cut down, the father wanted to increase the price, because it was larger than he thought it was going to be. Mind you, this was communicated to me 1) through Chivarous and 2) after my gutter sustained $1,200 worth of damage due to a falling limb as they cut the tree down. They ARE NOT INSURED. The amount of debris that came from this one tree was substantial and sat in my yard for two days. Because responses stopped while we were texting (read receipts were on), I called the city to see if they would pick up the debris as I thought they were going to leave with me with it. The city called them and the debris began to be picked up at 8:37PM that night after obtaining a truck from GA, I believe. They did a really good job of cleaning it up in the dark and came back the next day to finish the clean up. During the 4-5 days they were here, they also took down a large shed and hauled the materials away. Chivarous was always respectful even despite his father yelling at him during the cleanup. I would say small jobs might be fine, but they don't have the equipment readily available for large jobs on top of the issue of not having insurance. The damage was never even discussed outside of when it came time to pay for the job. I just kept being told that they "can fix it".

Despite not being the cheapest quote, I decided to go with Bryan, and he showed up exactly on time, 8:30am, he did exactly what we agreed to, and did it to an expert degree. I couldn't be happier with First Coast Tree. They ended up taking down a large palm that was leaning over my neighbors fence/pool. They cleared out a second tree in the front yard and then removed a huge bush line. They left the area looking cleaned up, and all in all, was a 10 out of 10 job. I've been using Bryan for years. There's a lot of 100+ year old trees on my property and they…read moreusually need attention above the 50-foot level where the canopy is. Oaks, pecans, hickory's, magnolias, and hundreds of azaleas to trim back. I'm picky. Most of the visits to my home have taken more than a day to complete. JEA sent an arborist out (at Bryan's request) one time because the canopies reached over their power lines. Both companies (JEA and First Coast) worked together for a couple of days to clear limbs away from the power lines. I try to wait for the winter months when all the leaves are down. Cheaper for me cause there's usually truckloads of waste to haul off. He's usually spent time walking the property and telling me what he thought ought to be done. He's conscientious about not wanting to kill an old tree that has shade and life left. If diseased, he'll try to shape around it so I can get a few more years out of them. When it's time to take out a bad one, he's done that too. When there's stump grinding involved, for me that's always been a huge tree we had to take down. He's always outsourced someone else that only does stump grinding and told me that's a separate company and I'll have to pay that person. He might have a grinder for little stuff, I don't know. He's never taken down anything little for me. I would recommend this company.

I am…read moreamazed that there have been no reviews here on Yelp of this excellent tree trimming/cutting business up to this point on Yelp. But for its first review, this company is more than deserving of five stars. I have used DPTS for both cutting and trimming on multiple trees in my front and back yards. And though the jobs he and his team performed in their duties on them was stellar enough, what impressed me the most was the knowledge that Durham Parker has about the trees in this area (probably even more than here) and that informs him on how he will execute a trimming or removal of a tree. It's VERY important that people choose a true professional when it comes to picking a tree service to do the job. I have three rules before choosing any business to work on my home, both interior and exterior. First, what are their ratings (mostly Google and Yelp) because you can learn some things about a business's quality of work and reputation in the area. DPTS is above stellar in this category. Second, are they licensed, qualified, have necessary insurance to conduct this type of work, along with guaranteeing it. DPTS fits this category perfectly again. Do they actually have the right equipment to get the job done safely and efficiently so your tree doesn't look like a three ring circus when a job is completed. DPTS gets an A+ in this category. Along with a crane that (I believe) can reach up to 60 feet high, they have other machines that can pull heavy branches, shave down tree stumps into dust, etc. I will admit that most may think this tree service is expensive. I would say that is in appearance only. For what this tree service offers and the success it's experienced in the JAX area and outside it, it's earned every bit of the highest rating it has received on one popular reviewing site. As an alert to those who read my review: beware of handymen who attempt to take up this type of business and come to your house and you choose them. You need to know their credentials, and especially if they are licensed and insured. If you don't and choose one of these types, you're putting your trees at risk and opening yourself to lawsuits if something goes wrong. You will never have this problem with Durham Parkers Tree Service. Durham is a pro's pro when it comes to this type of work! Bring him over to work on your tree service needs! OH! One last thing! DPTS contracts with a local tree removal service to ensure that all tree branches, stem, crown, etc. are removed after the job is completed. Excellent job from start to finish. We had a very large Viburnum hedge surrounding our corner lot…read moreproperty. It had become overgrown and unmanageable for us. These guys came out cleaned up and cut the hedge down to an appropriate height. They did an amazing job and they cleaned up after the work was done. I know it was a huge project. I truly appreciate the time and work put into this project. Highly recommend for any tree/hedge services!!!
